  1. Thanks Sheryl, Can I take it alongside the Doxycycline? I thought I maybe could use Doxy + Metronidazole as an alternative if can't take Doxy + Augmentin? As the table below from nice (Uk National institute for Health)
  2. Thanks Co-Amoxiclav is the same as Amoxicillin with clavulanate, seems to be the main one to use just not sure I can take with my current Doxycycline. Yes cats have a lot of bacteria in the mouth, less concerned for rabies (known indoor cat, previously vaccinated but a while ago) but should take some antibiotics for anything else she could have. I wanted to confirm and start asap even if decide to get the rabies shots tomorrow .
  3. Thanks, I can't until tomorrow. Don't really think I need to as the cat is known to us doesn't have rabies and stays indoors. But probably should take antibiotics, would have taken coamoxiclav for 3 days, but as I'm already taking Doxycycline not sure what to do.
  4. Bitten by our indoor cat breaking up a fight, its not that deep but it bled, puncture wounds. She has been vaccinated but not for maybe a couple of years. More concerned about infection than rabies. Cleaned with soap and water, then alcohol, then betadine. I am taking Doxycyline 100mg x 2 for last 20 days for something else, will this help for the cat bite, I read it can be taken with metronizadole for this purpose. Or should I take co-amoxiclav which seems to be most recommended. If so can I still take the Doxy? Thanks sorry not a great picture, but thats the worst of it, the rest are scratches rather that bites
  5. Looks like its cheaper also to do it this way, fee is less than using 'low cost transfer' from UK bank. Do they charge you to deposit into the account?
  6. Only if you transfer 500GBP +, still guaranteed under 500 GBP (for now)
  7. transfers <500GBP are still giving guaranteed rates at the moment
  8. I got 40.7 with wise last night, wasn't sure what would happen this morning so only did my normal transfer. Did the Uk govt not expect this to happen? Kwasi is making no comment at all about it, he doesn't comment about markets ! He did say though there are more tax cuts to come. I don't get what's going on, BoE is upping rates to control spending and inflation, Govt is cutting taxes, surely they are working against each other. Weak pound will only add to inflation and higher interest rates.
  9. GBP-THB Where do you look for forecasts? I've used poundf.co.uk before, latest predictions are down, over next few days, weeks, months, years eg Monday forecast min 38.91, max 40.09, rate 39.50 and heading mostly down the rest of the year, Nov close 37.15 I'd like to compare other forecasts, pretty much all mainstream UK news is all doom and gloom today. Whats predicted to happen next week when trading opens on Monday?
  10. Not been able to check if it still works again because I checked the remember me for 7 days box so it doesn't ask for the access code, will try it again after the 7 days.
  11. I will put the sim back in the original phone after I am done, and see if it now works. Maybe it has been fixed?
  12. I have put my True sim into another phone and tried again, I didn't think it would work but the code came in a few seconds! Its an android phone, there is no spam filter or anything on it that I know of, have had the messages before no problem, the memory is not full. Don't know if it was fluke and will now work in my usual phone, will try after I have done what I need to online. Thanks for all the help
  13. Thanks just tried again today, still not working with True. Can you tell me what number the message came from, without that I can't really report it to True - even having the number not sure who I can report it to to get them to understand
  14. Been trying all day today to login to UK Government Gateway tax account , but also not working for other services e.g. pension forecast, NI contributions, file a return etc. I've used it for years, I can sign in but the 6 digit access code that is normally sent to your registered phone by SMS message does not arrive (Yes my Thai number/phone is the one registered, it confirms last few digits before sending). I've called and contacted them about it but no real help, they did say that they have changed the communications partner. They said my provider (True) may be blocking the number but they can't tell me what number its sent from now (its 60551 on a UK phone) The last time I used it was Feb I still have the old message in my phone. If anyone else here is registered for this can you try and log in for me. see if you get the access code? Thanks.
  15. I still don't get why the HMRC officer said don't put anything in 17 (countries which you are a national and/or resident) but I should fill in 18 (countries which you are resident for tax purposes other than UK). Don't want it coming back saying I missed out 17.
  16. No I thought that, he said I didn't need to put anything is 17, but to put in 18 to get personal allowance as a British Citizen (also follows what I was told yesterday by a different officer to fill in boxes up to 19) Didn't really get the reason behind it he just said to get personal allowance, but I did specifically ask about 17 and then said so 17 I leave blank, he agreed.
  17. I have been talking to HMRC again, a very chatty technical officer. He says if you are a British Citizen X Box16 (which we knew) he said Box17 can be left bank, before there used to be a code for GBR but that isn't used anymore, only need to fill in code for other countries. He says fill in THA in box 18 to ensure you get tax allowances. The rest past Box 19 onwards don't need (in my case).
  18. Just an update on this part, GBR does not appear in the list of country codes in the 'HMRC Residence, remittance basic etc notes' Great Britain, United Kingdom is not listed there is only code ZZZ for 'None of the above'
  19. It was a long time ago but remember filling in some form and I got a tax rebate for that year I left, I also registered as non resident landlord so the agent doesn't take off tax. For CGT on property non residents are only exempt for gains up to April 2015 when it changed, I did not live in the property as a private residence any time after 2015 so I think only now get 9 month PRR. So my CGT liability is April 2015 to the day I dispose of the property. I didn't pay for a valuation at 6 April 2015, but an agent valued it and I have a copy of the email in June 2015 and 10 months earlier June 2014 my neighbour with an identical property sold so I have that also. Yes makes sense for Q17, maybe I will do the same just put GBR and nothing in Q18 onwards. The technical officer at HMRC did say I probably only needed to complete up to box 19. -Thanks
  20. Thanks, I was about to say I don't think you should put GBR in Q17, but actually on reading it again it says "countries of which you are a National and/or resident" So as a British National should put GBR but I'm not sure if should put THA also. I'm on annual extensions, so I'm not a permanent resident but as a temporary resident do I need to then put THA in Q17 as well as GBR? for Q18 (resident for tax purposes) I'm in Thailand longer than 180 but have no income here, so am I tax resident as far as HMRC is concerned? I just want to make sure I am non resident when I come to CGT in the future. HMRC are not much help they just say cant advise on residence in UK or other countries. The reason I am doing this now and realised my mistake not doing SA109 for >10yrs and only doing online returns is that I am considering selling my UK property so for CGT want to make sure I am non resident (non residents are only liable for CGT for gains after April 2015 - rebasing). I spoke to HMRC without giving them any personal details, they said I should print and sent in paper copies of SA109 going back to 2018/2019 to correct my mistake. HMRC are not helpful they say cannot advise on your residence status in UK or other countries.
  21. Sorry to bring up an old thread I can make new if mods prefer. I'm looking at doing the SA109, its a not that easy to follow, can anyone offer any advice? I am out of the Uk for more than 10yrs (only 10 days in uk) previously done my tax return online which I now know I shouldn't have done as it didn't include SA109 (I have spoken to HMRC and this is being sorted out). I have rented UK property which is under the personal allowance so don't actually pay any tax, no other income. Q1-14 I think I have understood, Q15-17 I will just X in Q16 entitled to personal allowance (as hold british passport), Q17 enter code for countries you are resident, I guess I would be resident in Thailand (I'm on annual extensions) so THA. Q18-22 Residence in other countries, do I need this part? Q18 asks which countries you are tax resident in, being in Thailand over 180 days means I'm tax resident here, but do I need to do this, if you fill in Q18 it expect you fill in Q19, 20-22 are about double taxations agreement so don't need this? Q23-27 Domicile I don't think I need? Q28-39 Don' think I need? Thanks.
