I understand the difference you're raising. But the commonality I'm raising is, AFAICT, two different people (Madonna and the preacher) who apparently both believe (in his case believed) that they could go out and mingle freely in this time of pandemic without fear of consequence.

It's just a Sky news article, so take it for what it's worth. I guess it depends on if she really believes she's immune from CV now and plans to act accordingly, as the article suggests, just because she has antibodies....

At best, under the current circumstances, I'd say her choice of phrasing in the Instagram post was poor and insensitive, amid a couple thousand Americans dropping dead of CV each and every day.

But she has not been going out freely, she has been in lockdown, and she does believe the virus exists and she took care to get a test that she believes protects her to some extent. I believe she has access to some pretty good medical care. She also only said she was going for a DRIVE in her CAR.

I think she is an atheist.  The preacher believed going out and doing his duty to God was more important than anything and that would protect him?  He went to a high density festival and mingled with people for several days in what turned out to be a hot spot.  She also hates Trump.

These are really two opposite people and situations totally.

I am staying locked down but will go out today in my car to do some grocery shopping and I don’t have antibodies that I know of.  I haven’t been shopping for about a month now however I don’t think you will compare me to the dead preacher guy for taking that risk?

  2. Okay Rob, so you met the “entire family” and that means you know them?  You  maybe don’t understand that the entire family is invested in this relationship going well, not only the woman.  It would be a bit unusual that a 35 year old doesn’t have kids, so does she have some others?  It is pretty common for a woman to pretend she has no kids to make herself seem more attractive to a mate.  These kind of lies are not even considered lies really, they HAVE to do it!!  And yes, the whole family, the whole of Thailand understands this!!  Only you don’t.

You never mentioned where did the teenager’s Mother go and when and is it associated with his problems?  Or do the other kids he is hurting belong to her?  I just want your eyes to be open that these kind of lies can be going on and just because you met a bunch of poor smiley people, who appear to be nice to you, doesn’t mean what they tell you is true.

  3. Well rumak, I am not asking, I am suggesting something to the OP and people reading this.  I read his past posts.  He seems to be a total newbie here and hooked up with an Issan woman.  His few posts spell trouble to me in typical ways you will recognize.  Like she forgot to mention her child who she claims is her nephew ...etc.

  4. I’m pretty sure the Mother is the OP’s 35 year old girlfriend, but he probably doesn’t know that yet.

Rob, you seem like a nice person who is struggling and soon will be circling the drain with this family and relationship.  I wonder how your million baht, or more, insurance policy on her parents worked out?

Maybe the boy has been acting out because his Mom left recently, that is the missing piece of the puzzle nobody is telling you?

Please do not make presumptions regarding the mental or physical state of anyone that you not personally familiar with. The worst I may be guilty of is a poor attempt at humour and I doubt that you are qualified to be the judge of that, given your nasty reply

What was your reply to geisha??  Not just a nasty one-off for no reason???  Can’t take your own medicine???

Yes. Sad though it is, and I really do sympathise, because, as fiercely as I criticise Thais for their culture, the quality of their life is, in general not very high, especially around here. This was pretty predictable though, indeed I think one poster did exactly that several weeks ago.  He  (I think it was a he) was right.

Are you saying a poster here killed himself recently??  Who was it??  How do you know?

I don't have contact with any of my family anymore and we plan to stay here, so it's more functional.

You have not explained why this would be “more functional”. The only thing that comes to mind is if you are Asian American and hoping to pass yourself off as Thai?

  9. I think this could be a time to negotiate.  At the very least if you pay, I would not want to have to get the letter.  Ever.  So make an excuse why you can’t travel there, like have no more money, you are sick, no need to make much sense, Thai lies never make much sense, just offer an excuse, and ask them to help you.  Maybe say you are willing to pay but don’t have 15,000 can they help you there to reduce that, you only have 7000 right now?  Then maybe they will say 10k will be enough?  Remember their real goal is money not the letter.

i was careful in my preparations for my extension at CW, had all the right documents, and gave them the correct 1900 baht with my application.

my passport was returned with 100 baht and a receipt for 1900 baht.

    did i get scammed?

You are lucky you got out of there.  It was probably a set up for theft charges, they were planning on taking you to a safe house and extorting money from you over a series of days, **** **** style.  ????????

Post was far too long.  I saw how long and skipped it, so no further comment, bar, OP needs to get a life and stop asking others for advice, especially on TVF of all places .

There is this thing called Twitter for people who demand brevity ...
