Say what! Explain what does your home country afford Thai tourists. With my Thai partner we visit Japan twice a year as Thai can obtain 15 day visa exempt. Even then the return fight is required to get on the departing flight. Have taken her to OZ many times. That was MANY page application with me as sponsor. I give up trying to take her to Europe etc. Just too hard.
Even with her multi entry 12 to Au....do you think I could fly her to say Singapore for w/e then return. Do 4 times in a year. NO!
Get over yourself.
Are you saying that you think your Thai person cannot go to Singapore? Because they can, it is part of ASEAN.

So you are saying that all people working on line in Thailand are paying taxes to their home country and if American they are registered as being self employed and their company is also providing benefits. Not happening
Self employed people in the US have their business registered with the Government and have an ID number issued. They are required to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes -double the amount that is normally split between a worker and an employer. In addition- they are required to pay Federal, State and local taxes.
Hardly misinformation- and I don't go on rampages- I simply tell it like it is. If American- You may want to check the IRS Regulations as well as the US Social Security Administration.
Here we go, I didn’t want to bother going back and quoting your old posts with contradictions, and wrong information. I am not on a computer so that is more difficult. But now you are adding things I don’t remember being in the discussion at all, such as are they “paying benefits”. I thought we were talking about digital nomads which I see as freelance work, more or less. Not people with employees. That takes everything in a whole different direction doesn’t it?
You tend to write things in a way that makes the meaning incorrect ...like above, the way you talk about SS and Medicare taxes, your statement says that a self employed person must pay double the amount that is paid by the employer and employee normally. I know I think what you mean, but that is not what you wrote. Maybe you are not American and truly didn’t understand ....I’m not sure?? But if you are self employed you pay your employee share as normal, and you pay the employer share, since you are also the employer ...making that amount double what it was when you were only an employee of a company, since that tax is split equally. But you don’t pay double that total amount.
Then your your comment about paying Federal and State taxes ...well all
Americans have to pay Federal taxes no matter where they live, so it doesn’t matter a lot what way they are doing business or getting their money, for a small guy working alone, he is not a corporation. He doesn’t have to pay state tax if he is not a legal resident of any state. He doesn’t owe sales tax, he is not selling things.
Just because people you work with don’t 1099 you doesn’t mean you are not responsible to report your income. If they are all paying their taxes or not, I don’t know but many business owners and freelancers who live in the US cheat like hell so what is the difference?? You don’t have to register to be a freelance worker.
I think one reason we had a lot of digital nomads, is because younger people could not find good jobs after 2008, some people who also got laid off from previously decent jobs, they took off to low cost of living areas, just like retirees, and decided to enjoy the time, see the world before they had a house and 3 kids, and they got by some lean years this way. They may have used some benefits, some savings, done some work however they could, and passed five years on the road, good for them ....better than wasting away for minimum wage getting depressed and doing nothing important anyway. Those jobs were not going to be paying a pension ...no jobs do anymore, if American they don’t get health insurance usually, get no BENEFITS ...many of you baby boomers had a great career situation that is not happening the same way these days.
I have a feeling you aren’t American and got a few facts off ...maybe ...the fact that you would even say providing benefits as if that is a legal right ...that is not an American thing ...getting paid is about the only legal right you have.

No1, when I wrote to Fred what you quoted from me above, I was somewhere in the middle of reading this long thread. It shoots my answer towards the end. Then I continued to read and more posts happened ...understand how it works??
However regarding your man with two different ages ...isn’t that due to one age being the man in the story who got rejected, the engineer, who is 53, and the other man who is older, is the poster who has has an account on TV?.
I don’t personally think this is such a big deal.

I don't disagree with what Thai Dream has written, except his views on healthcare. However, he's free to express his views honestly. Not everyone agrees with your views and should not be put down others for expressing them. If you simply shut down and refuse to listen to opposing views how can you listen.
Using terms like "rampage of misinformation and nonsense" shows the narrowness of thoughts.
Fred in a few posts, ThaiDream made several factual mistakes, they are not opinions. Regarding SS and taxes and things, I read it several hours ago and I don’t feel like going over it again, he blatantly contradicted himself within the post, which is why I used the word nonsense ...as in ...it made no sense.
Thank you for your efforts to control me. I notice you do that often with people.

National Insurance payments (British pension) for offshore workers in the Uk is 2.50 GBP/week.
You can set it up to automatically be debited from your bank account, or pay a year at a time, or in arrears up to 5 years.
Most Euro countries have similar arrangements.
Yes, also in the US you pay social security as a self employed person ...Thai Dream went on a rampage of misinformation and nonsense.

Amy Kat writes "I really hate when people conflate the definitions of stupid and ignorant ...and then get insulted when the word ignorant is used correctly and not as an insult, as Jingthing did." Sorry but that's a very ignorant statement. I hope you understand and are not offended Amy by my calling you ignorant. You don't mind if I call you ignorant right? Do you like it?
Why don’t you Google “ignorance of the law” quotes and see what you find out? Then change your avatar name to Mr. Smarty Pants so we will know who we are dealing with, okay?

Why don’t you tell us what kind of job, everything you suggest sounds inappropriate to me.
There are nice pants in the world that are not part of a suit, that are not jeans and not sweat pants either. You can dress them up or down as you like.
Also, will you be interviewing with Thais, or with what ...the culture of the people might matter?

By the way, I mentioned at the start that low thyroid can cause skin problems and then James26 wrote you who seems to be a vet and he wrote the same thing that it is a number one cause along with Cushing’s disease, and made some suggestions ....did any vets do bloodwork looking for things like that?? You should read his post again and maybe start looking inside too?? The ivermectin you can do anyway as your parasite preventative and worming is good to do from time to time. I noticed now, your dog is 8 and this just started this year, so that might indicate it is age related like how thyroid disorders tend to start? Or other things he talked about ...
It might just be a symptom of a larger illness and everybody is missing it. Low thyroid is fairly common and easy to solve for example.
-
Well I can’t read that package. Usually ivermectin is sold for farm animals like pigs or cattle at a hugely too large dose for dogs. It needs to be mixed up correctly and put in an appropriate base liquid. Sometimes some pet stores sell pills from China but I don’t know the quality and you can’t control the dose as well ....if the dose is even correct on the pills. Just to be safe, I would go to a Thai vet, they all have this product made by Bayer, Baymec, it is called there, that is pig and cattle version. That is what Thais use not all those expensive products. Then they give you a small 1cc syringe, and you put it directly in dogs mouth. Dose based on weight, they will tell you correct dose for controlling ticks and worms and all those things. I would buy a large bottle that lasted for months, for 8 dogs, for maybe 300 baht or so. And that is mostly profit for them. Don’t try it yourself, you can easily get a decimal point wrong and overdose your dog, although they can tolerate a large amount safely ...but not 1000 times.
-
Yes, once you dig into it and confront Fred he has to check out. He just wants to lecture people from his pulpit with his control freak nature.

I want to know what misconceptions Fred needs to work on correcting also?!! And why?? I think I know but let him explain before I do it for him.

Actually the cost of the Elite Visa vs Non O retirement isn't that great. If I were living in the Bangkok area, an Elite Visa might make sense with the perks, but I live 600 KM north. Italy would be OK but I don't speak Italian.
What perks are those Fred that you would pay $280 a month for??
-
You might want to try having your dog fully dewormed. I have been reading lately about various worms that can cause skin problems ...hookworms for example, and others.
Also you can use ivermectin orally from a vet, once a month instead of all those expensive products to kill parasites. It will also act as a dewormer I think for some worms but not every? I did that for all my dogs, 8 of them, and never had any problems. It is a very safe drug and very cheap. Vets don’t always suggest it to farangs. You use it at higher dosage than for just preventing heartworm ...this is the drug that prevents heartworm in case you don’t know that is in Heartguard. Then you don’t need to buy that.
Since I left Thailand and stopped that my dogs got some minor skin problems and itchy things also they never once had. Oh, you can’t treat Collie type breeds, Please look up your particular dog breed before you do it, some dogs can’t take ivermectin ...notice to anyone reading this. Not you OP.

Thai civil servants are scared of their boss. If they displease their boss, they get sidelined. So the question is why are certain Immigration senior figures (only in the regional office covering the main international airports) pushing this order on to their front line staff. Who knows? The reason is being kept secret. There has been no official press release or police order changing the way the law should be implemented.
Perhaps somebody's wife was denied entry into a Western country for the same reason. Perhaps senior Immigration figures (only in the regional office covering the main international airports) are getting a cut of Elite visa sales. Who knows? Nobody, because it is all being kept secret.
I have been thinking for quite a while that this problem is coming from someone who likes Germany a lot ...maybe some resentments, payback for various things.

Well you could try to tell her that you have locked it ...you better lock it down remotely, your computer, that it is worthless to her, your clothes are generally worthless, and you are willing to pay her 10k or something. Have the money in cash and be there and ready to take your stuff when you say it. Have a friend go with you, etc. Try something like that if you can stay calm.

At the end of day if he makes it bad enough or he makes her lose face bad enough it could get much much uglier
She could claim not only he owes her back rent but he abused her or any other lie she wants to tell
Well she is not his landlord I suppose? Someone else is. He can judge, is the rent paid? The police aren’t there to figure out each and every bill. I think it is pretty obvious when a woman is trying to keep your things and he goes to the police ...does she look beat up? I don’t know ...if you want to live in fear, then let her steal all your stuff, try to negotiate the number lower, spend some time ...it will go down with time, or kiss ass and make up. Then run away later, don’t ever let them get any power over you in the future. I always fought the battle...I don’t like to lose. It always worked out for me but it is a risk.

Well I agree a lawyer is usually unhelpful here, but if police won’t help ...just keep in mind that what she is doing is a crime. You lived there, your things are there, you did not have a chance to get them yet, this is not a dispute about who bought the TV, obviously male clothing is not hers, pretty obviously a computer in English with all your details in it is not hers, etc. Your bank book is not hers. Just like a landlord cannot one day just lock you out and keep all your things because he doesn’t like you??? Can he???

I can’t believe they wouldn’t let you get your clothes? Yes, you can’t break in. How did it come about that you left with nothing and no key?
You could record her threats and then report her for extortion. Or get a lawyer to negotiate to give you the things or get reported. You can’t steal someone’s things and threaten to sell them back because you are angry.

Well I think many of these type of men that I wrote about above, seem to be good tourists to have. The ones I met a lot of them were staying at hotels where I used to go for the pools. They would stay for 2 months at a time on a regular schedule for example. They had girlfriends they supported. They had a bit more of a vacation mentality than your average person who is really living here, so they were out spending and having fun. They knew they had work so we’re not on such a limited budget as some retirees. If these people don’t matter to the economy than why is Thailand giving 1000 baht out to Thais to stimulate tourism. Those guys spent more each day. And brought it from outside ...what good is it to get broke Thais to spend more traveling around for a tiny discount on some <deleted> item??
