  1. Alan and GeordiePhil - are you guys in Thailand or are you waiting in UK ? I'm just behind you in the queue so I'm hoping for the week after- I can honestly say the wait has been a awful, had so many unnecessary rows on the phone with the missus about nothing, we keep saying if we can get through these few weeks it will be all down hill I only hope we're right :-)

hi all40ne, im back in u.k. now ,returned here at the end of may as i had to return to work, me and the missus are the same we had a few tiffs too , but i think that all part of being seperated so early in our marriage it not easy having a relationship on web cam or phone, there are times when u need to feel close to each other, but it will all come good in the end , just have to hang in :)

    Phil

Yes, guys I'm in the UK too, waiting and waiting, its funny how the rows are over silly little things, but really me and the misses know that its because we are missing each other so much, its easyer to get angry with each other than with the whole wait. Its worth the wait tho. :whistling::rolleyes:

  3. To all those currently going through the process, for whichever country, best of luck; and remember that patience is a virtue that is difficult to have, but essential in situations like this. If you, or your loved one, meet the requirements for the visa, and have shown that this is so, then you will get what you want; even though it may take a while. A settlement visa is for a lifetime together; surely the preparation and the weeks or even months of waiting for it is worth it in the end.

Beautifully said 7by7, this is why we do it. If you want it so much its worth the time and effort.

  4. Hi All, just looking into airline tickets while Im waiting for my Wifes Spouce Visa to be granted, has anyone got any ideas on the best way to book a one way flight to the UK for my Wife ? Ive looked on Thai International and they are asking £1,000 over for a direct flight one way to heathrow.... this is crazy.

Would like it to be a direct flight.

Anybody got any ideas, on companies, cost and how to do it, should i send the money to my wife and she buy the ticket in BKK, or I do it from this end in the UK, but does this create problems with collection at the airport, as they ask for proof with the credit card or debit card.

    Alan

  5. did you print a copy of the application and submit that with your supporting docs or dont they need a printed copy? and could you have saved a copy of the online app. to your computer, to print at a later date? (does it give you that option)

    cheers

I finished of my supporting docs, did the online application, booked the appointment and printed of the application all in Bangkok in one day easy, just make sure you find a good internet shop, you know nice and quiet, because you will have a lot of paper work lieing around  .

You can save the online doc if you want to, and print of the application later.

  6. Theres another week gone. I wonder if we'll get home in time for Christmas

I'm feeling it too, you should hear news very soon, its only been 3 weeks and 3 days for us, this is the longest wait I think I have ever known. It is a big come down I think, doing all the planing and thinking, taking time about doing the Spouse Visa, then just to sit a wait, but waiting is what we have to do now. Wishing for the weeks to fly by. :jap:

My wife and stepson are booked in for tomorrow also (26th).

So you can add me to the list from then too.

    SL.

What does your printed off copy of the online visa application look like, mine looks like just a copy ????

AND The Check List .... Do I tick the checklist or not ???? Or do they do this, and I just give the printed form ????

    Alan

  8. Mate you have to slow down, and I know really inside your thinking " YES BUT SHE THIS, AND SHE SAID THAT, SHE LIKE NO OTHER WOMAN IVE EVER MET ".

But Brother this is Thailand, and all the woman are beautiful and kind, in there own way. You have to listen to everybody here, we are strangers to you, outsiders, and these people in life tend to give good anvice.

If this is really Love you are both feeling, then time will tell, and a Visa to the UK can wait. And the same with Marriage, there is alot for you too learn about Thailand and the girls, trust us.

    Alan

  9. Filled and sent online application, got my wife the appointment on Thursday 26 at Regent House.

The printed off Spouse Visa Application is like a print off???? I know this may sound funny but I was thinking it was going to look like the old Visa Forms, in colour and with the UK Border Agency logo in the top left hand corner. Is this right ???

Good luck Tigerjohn, Im sure you will here soon.

  10. Just like to tell everybody that we today got married, and in using Thai Visa Forum has been so helpfull. Thank you all.

We managed to do it all in 2 Days, Monday & Tuesday, British Embasy closed due to holidays, so early Wednesday morning we were at the gates with my printed affermation ready, it seemed to flow very easy really, picked up affermation Wednesday 2.00pm, went across the road to a translation place called Ploenchit Translation Center, got all documation translated, they put all my papers together for us ready to take to the MFA.

Thursday morning up early, BTS to Mo Chit, left at exit 3, went outside and jumped into a taxi, the taxi driver knew already were we where going, funny really. We arrived at the MFA for about 9.00am, handed in paperwork, and was told to collect at 12.00, left there around 1.30pm. Got straight into a taxi to Mo Chit, BTS to On Nut, and went to a place just down from Tesco Lotus in On Nut, I think it was called a Family Center. There were a few mistakes that my wife to be had done on the hand written affermation and information, but it was not a problem, the nice lady was wonderful.

Married by 4.00pm . Wonderful really.

Once again thank you all for your advice  .

Next job is her Spouse Visa.

    Alan

  11. See Guide to supporting documents - Settlement.

    Also, How to apply says

Step 4 - Prepare your documents

    Original documents & photocopies

You must provide original documents with a photocopy of each original document you are submitting (including your passport photograph page). In particular, you should include original documents relating to birth, marriage, divorce and death. If you are not able to include originals of these then you should send certified copies. Failure to submit original documents or certified copies may mean your application is delayed or refused. Your original documents might not be returned to you if you do not provide photocopies.

They are reluctant to accept photocopies, especially of financial evidence, as these can easily be altered.

Do not hide the account number etc. I believe that they do sometimes check with the bank, especially if only copies have been submitted.

Thank you 7by7 & kunash, will be given all originals as its better to be safe then sorry, and plus I have nothing to hide, and if it helps my love to get her Spouse Visa to the UK, I'm in.

  12. Its a very simple process and if you don't do it because you can't be bothered with the "hassle" then you don't deserve to have custody.

Good point, if you don't try to sort this out now, you don't know what the future brings, you just might wish you had done it, its only "hassel" at the time, when completed and its all done, your me over the moon.

    Alan

  13. Hello All

Just wanted to clarify the Original Documention needed to hand in with the Spouse Visa, as I'm a little worried about getting these papers lost in transit, and didn't want to hand in papers which were not necessary. With the Bank & Credit Card Details should the account number, sort code etc be blanked out with a black marker.

    From myself.

    Bank Statements

    Credit Card Statement

    Marriage Certificate

    From my Wife.

    Passport

    TB Test Paper

    English Language test results

Every other document is OK to be a printed copy.

If I have missed anything, please put me right.

    Alan
