A basic human right of being able to express an opinion or having free speech is still sadly lacking in this country. It will be interesting to see how stuff like this plays out in the future in Thailand.

Saw that too. Says to follow him on Twitter (which is awful).

I don't know where you live in Hua Hin but i have spent some days
here in september, hanging around walking and driving my car and it was a ghost city, very small traffic on the road, most of the restaurants in the city was empty (One sunday evening i was the only customer in a big sea food restaurant in the front line) and so on.
A lot of choice in the hotels with big promotions also because no customers and even the night market was half empty.
Listen to you it seems the flood of tourists is just arrived this lasts days.
Similar experience. Hua Hin was absolutely dead in July. Actually felt depressing walking around as literally all the restaurants and bars were empty.

It's still amazing to me after all these years how decades of social conditioning can pacify a populace to the point that no matter what happens, 99.9% just accept it as the way things are. I mean, we see it to a certain extent in western democracies, but it's taken to an entirely new level in this part of the world.
Great post. So true.

Branded goods are not cheap here. A huge percentage of branded products in the UK, US and Europe are considerably cheaper than Thailand. Tourists will not come here and spend lots of money just because their Gucci bag or iPhone is cheaper to buy here.

As usual, the man is completely reactive to situations. If it wasn't for the pollution returning this week he would not have been proactive in any way to try and rectify this problem before it starts properly again in a few months.

We got married when we were both living in England which was her idea over doing it in Thailand. I didn't pay anything and it was never mentioned. I always perceived it as an outdated ritual that is better left to the Thais for their showing off. If her family ever asked for it, I would have said in Western culture the bride's family pays for the wedding ceremony (which she knew already).
Not sure whether or not it made a difference, but we were 29 and 28 when we got married a few years ago so it was different to a lot of relationships here. She is very westernised (been to university in England) and didn't seem to care about the idea of showing off a sinsod. I am not sure whether or not her family and her had more private conversations about me not paying it, but I don't care.
Perhaps I did pay a form of sinsod as during our time living in England for a few years I was teaching and she was studying her Masters degree and only working part time so I was paying for the majority of our expenses (bills, transport, holidays etc).

The company is pretty much insolvent so he is clearly lying as usual.

Absolutely. The election was obviously not fair, but the most disappointing thing was the huge number of Thai people that supported them. A military should never be ruling a country in 2019. It is mental.

I am guessing she used a fake passport and wasn't Thai. Most likely Burmese.

No, Mr P, they won't.
Case closed.

I wonder if Thaworn has got any experience in the restructuring or refinancing of major companies.

The over supply is staggering, yet basic school level economics would show what you should then do. However, if I look from my balcony I can see 2 or 3 new developments being built in a 1km stretch which already has 3 developments.
The prices are also far too high for a country with basically no large middle class base and strict rules on the much maligned foreigners.
8M THB for a one bedroom on Sukhumvit Soi 3 was a sign I saw the other week. Over 200,000 GBP for a 1 bedroom condo on arguably the most disgusting street in the city. Shear madness.

No problem, they will start spraying water from the top of buildings to sort this out.

I like this guy and really hope he is able to stick to his aim. Some of the interviews I have seen him given in English have been impressive. This is the sort of man who 'could' begin to change things here if he is ever given the chance.

Nothing to do with the road carnage here phases me now. It is completely lawless and stuff like this happens so often. Just driving out of Bangkok last weekend some of the sights were just mind-boggling.

Inevitable. Did Prayut and his goons actually foresee the possibility of implementing a system such as this in a country whose current rail network looks like something from about 1920.

No issues here unless I have had a skin full of beers. I think I am hornier now (in my 30s) than I when I was 18 or 19. Long may it continue.

Me too - it's Netflix's fault because what they call season one is actually season 3!
What! Is that season 3 on there now? I thought it was the old season 1!

Why cant people mention sex without laughing ?
Its quite common in Thailand , *sex* is the funniest word in the World .
Just say the word and everyone bursts out laughing .
Not laughing, I am licking my lips remembering it!

No, I haven't.
Eight years we have been together now and I haven't done anything, despite many opportunities and offers. I cheated on a few previous girlfriends (in England and Bangkok) when I was younger too but this one has felt different.
Obviously I love to window shop, and often think about what it might be like with certain women I see and meet, but quite often the reality is never as good. It definitely takes time to make the sex life really good and a one night stand doesn't interest me.

many tourists are dying on the nation's roads
Is there data on this, because I would guess the number is minuscule in comparison to the average of 60 a day.
This is a good idea, but there is a far bigger issue here that as usual hasn't / won't be addressed.

I cannot wait to see these trying to be enforced.
