  1. Rim tape looks good! Here is what my rims have been sporting lately...... As KRS1 says on another thread, it's been great riding weather in the North but I did end up catching the very last rain storm.

Nice. Amazing how the rest of the bike stays spic and span while the the rims are all caked in mud...:)

  2. Went to the Honda Center at Mahidol Rd. last weekend for the regular service.

Decided to finally get those rim-stickers, asked for red ones but they didn't have any and tole me if I would want to place an order instead.

They were down to the last pair of silver ones as well. Got the silver ones for 150 baht a pair (300baht for both wheels).

Bought the first pair at the shop's office, had to go the display room to buy the second pair.

The silver ones I think match the black bike perfectly anyway.:)

There was a black windscreen on display at the office (not the touring-type), I guess it was for the CBR250, not sure if it fits the CBR150. I saw a few decent second-hand CBRs and Phantoms up for sale as well.

  3. Indeed it is... the weather's cooler. :D

Hopefully, there won't be any rainstorms for a while. One thing I've noticed is the traffic got denser, possibly because of the "Yi-Peng" celebration.

Been also seeing a lot more tourists in rented bikes around the Mae Rim area.

A trip to the San Kamphaeng Hot Springs from the city is definitely nice, especially with the smooth roads, and light traffic...

Ratchaphruek Flower Gardens isn't that bad either once you get past the heavy traffic around the Huay Kaew area...

    Then there's always Doi Suthep...

  4. Took a peek at Honda Europe's Virtual Press Office, no news on the 2012 CBR250R-fi (not even for new color schemes). There are some new pictures of the 2012 CBR125R-fi.

Seeing as the color schemes between the three small CBRs (125,150, 250) have more or less been similar there might be one in "Repsol" colors next year (especially since their winning in MotoGP).

  5. Hi,

I just happened to see a CBR250 at a Honda dealer here in Khon Kaen some days ago, and I got interested and may want to upgrade from my Honda 125 PGM-FI.

I like the red color of the CBR, but here in town I have only seen the black one, and all dealers say, oh, cannot order a red one !

Prices vary a lot. Most of the bikes seen are with ABS, which I would prefer, prices from 117,500 - to 140,000 Baht.

One without ABS was 130,000 Baht !

I did not ask for extras, I just asked for the price.

Is it possible to get a red CBR250 anywhere, it seems the thais just love the black one ?

How about the ABS system, is it worth the extra money ?

Come to Chiang Mai. I can take you to 3 different dealers that have EVERY color available. All Black / Black & Silver / All Red / Red & Silver / Metallic Gray. ABS & Non ABS. Price for Non is averaging 115k, ABS 129.

Is ABS worth the extra? YES!!!!! At least in my opinion.

    I'm going with this one:

ALL CBR decals will be removed, and on either side of the front will be this:

Hey, I'm a Retired Jarhead, so what else would go on there???

    :whistling:

Swap the silver bits for red ones or paint them over maybe?

You could get an engraved bronze USMC seal or a faux bronze plastic badge instead of just a colored vinyl decal.

Incidentally, has anyone seen a tri-color variant for sale in Thailand? A friend from Boston was trying to get one here for when he settles for good in Chiang Mai (probably late next year)...

Yesterday, I saw an all-black one parked a few meters from Tesco Mae Malai, a teenager was sitting on it, acting all cool. As I passed by, the kid sort of jumped from the seat and straightened out like a lizard with it's tail just cut. I couldn't help but smile as I thought that he probably thought I was the owner of the bike... I was also glad my decision not to take my own bike out but rather, take up a colleague's offer to go with her in her car, was sort of justified.:D

  6. A brand new fuel-injected Dream is probably cheaper than a brand new fuel injected Wave. I was at one of the Honda Dealers in Chiang Mai when they launched the FI version of the Dream a few months back and the place was crowded with buyers (I think they had a promotional discount or something).

The new FI wave looks "sharper" compared to the Dream.:)

This might be a bit of help:

  7. You guys must have been roasting with all that gear you wear .Me i just have jeans and a Tshirt ( mostly no helmet ,but would wear one on a long run ) when i ride .

Judging by the ridiculous statement you just made, now I understand why you bought a Lifan. You ever hear of ATGATT? Don't dress for the ride, dress for the meeting you have with the pavement at 100+km/h.

I hear that skin grafts are extremely painful. Each to his own. ATGATT for me :)

The thought of what was once the skin on your butt is now the skin on your arms...:bah:. I guess it's ATGATT for me too.:D

    ...but not like this...

  8. Ah. The problem with superlatives? If the best just got better then technically it went down one step from best to better..

Always a problem when over using superlatives. It's like calling anything "new" Like Fiat Nuovo 500. OK until you wish to reintroduce a newer one.

What if you say, "The best just got even better..."?

  9. Hi there,

Well just to finish this one off, for me anyway, I paid a visit to Ching Mai on Tuesday and visited the shops that were recommended. Managed to buy two new crash hats, XXL and a couple of spare visors.

Bought them from Helmets & Dirt who have a website, www.helmet2home.com or call on 083-7606067 or 086-6546498.

Where are they located? The prices are pretty good on that website...

Across Suriwong Bookstore. When you buy stuff from the store instead of ordering from the website, the owner will still give you a few hundred baht off your purchase, depending on what you're buying.

Oh thats the same shop, didn't know that, thanks!. I've been there a few times, price is certainly right. I wonder if they're supplied via Mae Sai as their selection of helmets looks similar to the shops up there. Or maybe it's just a co incidence they have lots of LS2s...

Hmm... that has got me thinking...

I just recalled, didn't you just get a Spark helmet from Kawasaki a couple of months back?

  11. There's also a decent riverside restuarant near the Mae Ngat dam, just in case you get hungry. :D

An English friend once told me they shot scenes for Rambo 4 near the river :)

Some nice twisties towards Chiang Dao to the right after the local Land Transportation Office, but be careful as the roads are sometimes very narrow (at least there's no potholes).:)

  12. The engine does sound better on PURE. My bike is now running purely on pure PURE since I've filled up at the same PURE station three times in a row (wow that's so many "pures" in a sentence, pardon the attempts at levity- I couldn't resist, been writing a boring training manual the whole day :D ).

In case everyone gets the wanderlust up north, the station is a bit further from Mae Rim going towards Chiang Dao a few kms before the intersection to Rajabhat. Yes, the station does look a bit run down compared to the Shell and PTT stations on the opposite side of the road further along the way.

  13. You could have just replaced the bike with another second hand (something around the 20 -25k mark). People here can be greedy and opportunistic. I'm sure the owner understands the value of depreciation, but seeing as she can make a whole lot of dough from you with the situation, you get it right?

I think you were screwed and the BIBs were probably in it too. Too bad it's too late now as the BIBs have given you a quotation. Maybe they'll still agree with replacing the bike, instead of paying for it.

  14. >>they sized you up when you rode in on your budget CB'r' and knew you couldn't afford their merchandise? <<

Far better that than arriving on a Tiger boxer !!!Then they would know that you have zero taste as well as being skint LOL !!!

this is funny shit coming from a man who drives a chinese copy of a famous yamaha bike and is always bragging about it to try and get other people to buy one .....:whistling:

    :cheesy:

    FACEPALM!:cheesy:
