  1. Bloody hell wants to live to 98, to spend all his money, how could you spend a billion baht in 23 years i think impossible, unless he ends up marrying a bargirl.biggrin.png

True a bargirl will always say you look young, your virile and extreemly handsome for a fraction of the cost. About $2.50 (AUD) a day and you can have a 18 yr old Thai bargirl.

  2. Most toilets out here are fine - it is the

lack of toilet paper, soap, and hand towels

for the user that needs changing.

Will you be asking for this next?

Some people need to harden up, we aussies don't need airconditioned toilets with soothing piped music, littered with rose petals and rose water on tap to gentely wash our rear end oriface. A bit of scrub out the back and a few Gympie-Gympie leaves and the job is done.

  3. I am a little confused, looking at the photograph I can't see a single asian in the group. Is this story the result of a demonstration by farangs in Thailand (Bangkok) prostesting against the squat toilets? The farangs look a little silly protesting about this, if they are not happy with Thai toilets don't expect Thailand to change just for them.

Mate. Check Noob7 post #7. Cheers

I think it is a Thai media thing, they just pull a photograph out of the toilet and use it even if it has absolutely nothing to do with the story. I guess they think most people will not notice mind blowing huge error after all the educated editor did not notice the huge flaw staring him in the face.

  4. Ah Thailand is now the toilet HUB. Thailand is 60 years behind the developed world when it comes to sewage treatment and still installing septic tanks at every new house built in new estates. The septic tank technology went out over 60 yrs ago, instead of stockpiling your countries poop in anticipation of a world shortage move with the times and catch up. No othere country is in competition with you to become the <deleted> HUB of the world.

  5. If an F1 car can bring 100,000 on to the streets of Bangkok I just think how many will come for the F1, When you conceder the extra thousands of overseas visitors flocking to Bangkok for the event, it is not the few thousand Baht they spend on the race tickets that counts but the other money they spend on hotels, transport, meals and entertainment , most will probable spend a couple of weeks in Thailand and most Thais will be looking forward to cashing in on it.

The one thing I am sure of is Thailand's hospitality will make it one of the popular venues on the F1 calender.

Yes I hear J.J is applying the finishing scratches to his fleet of new jet skis in anticipation of an increase in business.

  6. Strike 1: Kills a motorcyclist while allegedly speeding

Strike 2: Motorcyclist is a policeman

Strike 3: Leaves scene of accident without stopping

Strike 4: Tries to put blame on family staff member

Strike 5: Over the alcohol limit

    Strike 6: Cocaine in bloodstream

Strike 7: Doesn't feel like turning up to Police station again to hear charges.

But will it be enough strikes for someone from such a rich and powerful family to serve jail time?

Nope and he will probably still drive in the celebrity race at the 2014 grand prix.

Is he scheduled to drive in that?

Just a bit of sacasism on my part, but don't be suprised if he does. In Australia during the grand prix car manufacturers provide vehicles (promotional campaign) and celebrities and high profile people have a novelty race. Now this guy's family is a majority shareholder in redbull a MAJOR sponser of the event and they also own the farari dealership in Thailand. I can see this guy partaking in the celebrity race as the Red Bull, Farari and Thailand poster boy with the full backing of the Red Bull family.

  9. HAHAHAHAHA. They won't even be able to speak basic English in 6 months.

Manchester United, Chelseee, Liverpull, Arsenal, been speeking English long time.

So they know thier english geography, I presume these are english towns but I may be wrong.

They are all football teams. One, called Manchester United, is based is Manchester, which is a city. One, called Liverpool, is based in Liverpool, which is also a city. Two, called Chelsea and Arsenal, are based in London, which is a capital city.

I hope that clarifies it for you.

Yes thanks. Soccer is not big in Australia so I guess that is why I had never heard of them.

  10. So given the negative cynical and smarty pants responses so far, lets look at the potential positives. It will be a good move to have police who have a minimum grasp of English. It is possible to create English communication skills in six months with willing participants and competent trainers. Thai people have capacities for growth beyond most of the commentary here. Few of you yet appear to grasp the significance of the attempt. If you tend to rely on smug superior criticism instead of embracing a forward thinking ideal you are diminishing the chances of its success. Try and be a bit more optimistic.

I understand what you are saying but how long have the tourist police been in existance, 15 yrs or so? (maybe longer) Weren't they established to help promote tourism and to assist International tourists if they found themselves in a predicament or were the victims of crime? How long have tourists been coming to Thailand? Why has it taken Thailand so long to realise that probably 99.9% of the tourists who come for thier one week annual holiday actually speak a different language to Thais? Would it not make more sense for them to actually recruit people who already (from the beginning) speak english, russian etc instead of waiting years to realise that they can't communicate and perform thier basic role.

It's the 7 PPPPPPP's (Prior Preparation & Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance)

  11. Seems a little like a pipe dream. One would have thought that when they were planning and establishing the corp of tourist police a "prerequisite" of employment would be that they were fluent in a foreign language. The whole concept of the tourist police semms a little pointless if they can't communicate with tourists.

It is a little like thier high speed train project, they have organised the box lunches but then oh <deleted> we forgot to build the lines and order the trains,

Now that would be logical to recruit staff who already have a fluency in a 2nd language but this is Thailand. The roof has to go up before the walls.

  12. Thailand is ready to be the hub of everything ....

    Thailand is so great

    Thailand is the best

Thailand can do it (when it gets out of rehab)

Seen my experience since 1977 as international purchaser in foods, and since 1994 with my own trading company:

Thailand never takes any initiative, so let the Chinese already take over a big part of their former exports

Thailand is always to slow and too late, so is now waiting till Vietnam takes over the rest of agricultural export

Thai sales staff do not know their products, are not interested to co-think to find new ways, new alternatives,

Thai sales staff are waiting till orders drop into their in-e-mail box, and even then are too lazy to process

Thai sales staff lacks adequate knowledge of English to really understand the wishes of their overseas customers, so loose 95-98% of their new opportunities.

Thai M.D. does not allow any of their staff ( even noyt to the "export manager"), to take any other decission except what to order if overseas buyers are invited to the restaurant the BOZZ decided to go.

    Take off your pink glasses....

    It is much worse.......

Thai sales staff: If they don't know, or don't understand the question, they just keep silent and hope the customer forgets about it. Even at companies like TNT the sales, or actually no one you can reach per phone knows their own truck network.

And beside what you told about decisions: The Thai MD seems to be never available for the staff asking him something.....

For international sales/exports/responding to emails Thailand is one of the worst countries.....

Actually TNT transport is an Australian Company and not Thai.

  13. The seventh paragraph says the wife left leaving the son and birth certificate, if he has the birth certificate why does he need the signature of the runaway mother?

    Sent from my GT-I9003

I am on my sons certificate, but in Thailand that is not enough. I had to go through the courts and have them officially recognise me as the biological father, my wife also had to give evidence. Just to get a one year visa extention

  14. If there goal is to see how much rice they can warehouse rather than sell it is a complete success. 30,000 square meters of storage at the old airport and still looking for other places to store it.

I can just imagine the rats defacating all through it whilsts it rots or do they ship the rat infested stuff overseas.

  15. Saw this on Australian T.V. Was being said that the government is paying the farmers exagerated prices for the rice, 500 US per tonne. The farmers are cultivating as much as they can as fast as they can to get the money which is resulting in a poorer quality of rice. The government now has massive stockpiles of rice that it can't sell on the international market at thier exagerated prices because countries are turning to other S/E Asian countries for thier rice which is apparently better quality at the moment and cheaper.

The current affairs reporter was saying that Thailand has shot itself in the foot. Maybe the international media have it wrong.

  16. Do you think they will stop killing people if Friday is a holiday?

Has announcing any day as a holiday stopped the 'West' from invading and massacring people by the thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands?

Nah, so let's stop being all holier-than-thou and the en gros childish anti-Muslim rhetoric. It's no surprise that the killing there hasn't stopped while this bigoted ranting is echoed through the brains of Bangkok-Buddhists as well.

People here constantly complain about how they have no rights and how badly they are treated . . . do you think the Muslims in the south have it any better . . . and they are citizens.

I've lived in a majority-Muslim country for four years now and - surprise, surprise - no-one has killed me or anyone non-Muslim or Muslim I know.

I do not think it is about the west attacking muslims and that the west is the cause of the muslim conflicts. Muslims just do not get along with non muslims, they are attacking and killing Budhists, Hindu's Jews, Christians in just about every country on the planet. 700 religions are not ganging up on Islam it is Islam attacking them. Tomorrow is the 10th aniversary of the Bali bombing and threats of terrorist attacks by muslims have been made against the Australian P.M and other diplomats attending. They are not threatening muslims it is the muslims making the threats in the name of islam.
