  1. No reason to get bent out of shape and question forum rules or moves of a moderator ! It's not a wise thing to do anyway, as per forum rules. There are many ways to name people without outright naming them per se. You can use metaphors, describe them, explain the area of the city where a business is, maybe call them by a rhyming, but different name or moniker (as I did a pg back or so). It's quite easy to speak indirectly, and oh so good to develop this most important Thai skill. I appreciate that we have rules, and that there is always a little wiggle room if you are conscientious.

All that is almost useless. What do most people do if they want to check out peoples experiences with a company or shop?

They google or do some other search for the name of that company or shop. What will the result be if they google for this woman or her shop?

I'm sure Google has a lot of smart people working for them, but we are pretty far off from that day where your google search will match any of those "clever" metaphors, rhymes, or "indirect" references when you search for the name of the woman or her shop.

Sure, the very few people reading this thread may take the bother to find a local mag or drive past the area mentioned in order to deduce the name of the shop/woman in question, but this is of no help to the vast majority of people who do not, nor ever will, read this thread, but who may still be careful enough to google the name of the shop before paying for their tickets.

Which is a pity, as it seems they will almost certainly be ripped off too. I can only hope some of the people scammed will mention the name of the shop directly in some other forum, blog, or whatever, so that google will hopefully pick it up.

Can someone repeat once again (I assume it's located somewhere in this very long thread already) where the "evil" shop is located? I think I've figured out the name, but see references to the shop having moved. Where is it now?

P.M me I will give you names, address, phone n# and email address if you wish. If that is allowed I hope a moderator on here can confirm this for me. If it is not Pm. me for my personal email address and I can provide it this way.

  2. The new paper type will make the cigarette automatically put out if the smokers do not smoke the cigarette for a period of time.

So once you've lit it, you've got to keep sucking on it.

Good move! Come on, kids, keep sucking!

Actually, I thought that was a standard thing in western (at least Australian) cigarettes - partly to reduce the number of house fires caused by people falling asleep while smoking in bed.

You are quite right. Cigarettes in Australia have been using this paper for sometime now, good the lighter companies. Oh but wait Thailand is going to be the 1st country sorry.

  3. My wife and I ate there a couple weeks ago. Sorry but we will not go back it was not good and way over priced ... There are much better places to get pizza .....

Thanks for the feedback. Went last time to Mr. Chan Miss Paulines and wasn't impressed at all with their pizza either. Another place I won't be back.

In six (6) years of searching I have not found a decent pizza place in Chiangmai. I am sorry but Thai's have absolutely no idea how to make pizza.

  4. The sad thing is that there is probably a few very good small travel agents in CM who will suffer simply because of this ladies actions. A lot of people wll now steer well and truely clear of most of them out of fear of being ripped off. A few honest ones may even go out of business suffering the ripple effect.

  5. Let me clarify Thai Visa's policy regarding naming and shaming on this thread or any other.

if information regarding this company's alleged crimes is in the public domain and supplied by a credible source, eg The Nation, BK Post, CM Mail, then there is no reason why TV would not publish it, in fact should publish it, but until there is a verifiable source of information then TV cannot publish the name.

It makes no difference if the person concerned is in police custody or not, until such information is released to the public from a credible source then I'm afraid it's a no go.

But once any info regarding this company is out in the open and you can provide a credible link then please post it.

I hope this is clear, I have had to remove a really poor effort to disguise the name, next time warnings or holidays will be given to those blatantly flouting forum rules or discussing the moderation of it.

What you say is fair enough but it appears that all the posters on here have had some dealings with the person and she is already well know in Chiangmai for what she is. From waht I have read everyone already has personal factual evidence which they can verify. I personally can provide documented evidence and a 1st hand account. I think a report in a local rag 3rd hand would be less credible than a story comming from an actual victim.

  6. Why doesn't America start acting like a friend and stop insisting that Australians DIE for thier little war? I ask you this a very simple question, Why should an aussie die for bloody America?

Because Australia wants the US to help them if Indonesia - or someone else - attacks. You scratch our backs and we scratch yours. That is how it works. ;)

    The biggest joke I have ever heard. The only reason the U.S would repay the Australian deaths for thier war in Afaganistan is if Australia became the 53rd state and that will never happen. America is not a friend of Australia and will not help unless thier is something to be gained. I would rather be ruled by Indonesia ant day than be called a $%$^

  7. Blimey! It was bad enough when the wife found a condom in my trouser pockets.

But how am I going to explain all the plastic bags?

I've been buying those black bin liner rolls - you know, 50 at a time - extra strong.

And as for the poly tunnell .............. I expect I'll be sleeping on the sofa tonight.

Man you are a studmister. I have to party with you. packs of 50 way to go guy. I normally just wash out those little plastic bags I get my street food in and still have to save the rubber band to strap it on.

  8. Are we talking about xxxxxx Travel? My suggestion is stay well and clear of this woman as she is a scammer will rip you off very quick. I booked with this company once turned up at the airport to check in and was told sorry can't check in as the agent had not paid. Thai airways told me that they have a lot of problems with this company. Lost my money and missed my flight.

Well done Moetown for posting this, you beat me to it. You have done a great service to all those on Thaivisa especially in the Chiangmai area.

  9. It's time for the Aussie troops to come home and stop dying for an American cause. They would better serve Australia at home where we need them.

Seems we have touched a nerve. Well lets get things straight shall we. Australia does not have the military might to defend itself against the likes of China. No one is criticizing the bravery of Aussie troops. But there aren't very many of them.

Nor do they have many guns, bombs and rockets and such.

The reason they don't have many troops or guns or rockets is a matter of spending policy. Australia spends 2%, Israel 7% add what the US gives them and it is over 10%.

Australia has made a choice to spend the money on butter because America is spending the money on guns.

I am not trying to be insulting. But American tax payers are paying a very large percentage of the strategic defense budget of the world. UK, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Canada and Australia equal 307 billion. The US 663 billion.

In this thread you suggested Australia stop assisting America in it's war in Afghanistan. I am suggesting you start acting like an ally. Since America is allowing you to spend only a fraction of your own budget on defense why don't you start acting like a friend and assist us as you can in our endeavors.

The cost in men and material you are spending in Afghanistan is a small fraction of what it would cost you to match China's 99 billion defense budget.

The Australian government of course realizes this and also realized it in other wars. You apparently are out of sync with your countries thinking.

Wake up a bit. Saudi Arabia is spending 40 billion on defense (8.2%) Australia 20 billion (2%). Sure it is nice having a strong currency and great social programs but there might come a time when the US is going to stop paying the bills. Maybe you better think a bit more about defense. Countries are like people they can only take so much criticism.

"I am suggesting you start acting like an ally. Since America is allowing you to spend only a fraction of your own budget on defense why don't you start acting like a friend and assist us as you can in our endeavors".

Why doesn't America start acting like a friend and stop insisting that Australians DIE for thier little war? I ask you this a very simple question, Why should an aussie die for bloody America? America is not Australia's homeland. As an Aussie I will never take up arms in defence of America and it's wars but I will do in the defence of Australia. You say America is ALLOWING us to do this and that, why doesn't America simply leave us alone. Excuse me America can I go and shit now and can you please pass the toilet paper. Please Americans stop trying to dictate to the world you are and will breed more hatred and it is in the interest of world peace for the USA to take a step back and respect people and the countries of the world. WITH ALL DUE RRESPECT. America as it likes to think is not the world. No disrepect to American citizens but America does force itself on every country on the planet.

  10. I think the author of the above editorial has taken him completely out of context.

"Thompson may actually be a very modest person, but his announcement that he has come to save Thai food from “decaying” sounds arrogant. It’s the appearance of arrogance that turns the Thais off. A little bowing and scraping would have won many hearts and minds. He might have said, “I am just a poor, ignorant farang who, like many of my kind, is deeply in love with Thailand. I am struggling to master the incredibly complex and beautiful intricacies of Thai cooking, which I respect, revere, and venerate to the point of adoration; and I humbly hope that my sincere but pitifully inadequate efforts may find acceptance among the Thai people, who are justly famed for their graciousness, magnanimity, and compassion toward unworthy foreigners like myself.” That would have brought the entire nation to its feet in wild applause."

Mr Thompson was refering to the way Thai food is altered to cater for FARANG taste and he is not talking about the way in which Thai's prepare traditional food for Thai's. He has the upmost respect for Thailand, it's people and the food.

Watch this link and hear it as it was said.

  11. I just can't get into motor racing. I can stand on a footpath and watch cars go by it is all the same to me it's not really a sport. But good luck to those that can see something in it.

I don't mean to sound patronising but that shows a lack of excitement in you :ermm:

I went to see a truck rac when I was little and the noise and excitement were amazing, ever since then I've been amazed by motorsport, if you've been to a truly impressive racing meet or similar then you just can't help feel the buzz.

The F1 car today was so noisy, so shocking(for the babies in the crowd), every single person there was loving it, look at the crowds, it was absolutely rammed full and I bet most of the people there weren't really F1 fans, more likely they were just curious, and curiousity is a good thing.

Get yourself along to even a pickup truck race on the outskirts of bkk and I bet you come away pleasantly surprised - if not a bit bunged up by the plumes of diesel flying out the back of them :S

Motor racing on TV can be boring, I fully agree, if I wasn't such an armchair fan of the tiniest details of F1 I could have fallen asleep watching some races over the last few years, but actually near one of those cars, there's no way of falling asleep, they're - I hate to say this word - AWESOME.

I worked at the F1 in Melbourne 4 yrs ago (Policing) and was totaly bored for 3 days. I am more of a team orientated, contact sports person. Australian Rules Football, cricket. Not knocking motor racing but just not my scene find it dull and boring.

  12. The Australian Prime Minister, Atorney General and the Federal Police have all confirmed that he has commited no offence was in the Australian media today.

    Correction. No offense in Australia.

Yes and isn't it wonderful that Australians are afforded the freedom to express themselves and say what they want without the fear of prosecution. Australia truely is a free society. It would not harm the U.S to allow it's citizens a little of the freedom that Australia gives her citizens.

Who are you trying to BS? If they were Australian state secrets, it is possible that he could be charged. The reason that he has not broken any Australian laws is because they are American documents.

They were not only U.S documents there were also documents concerning the then Prime Minister Kevin RUDD

  13. The Australian Prime Minister, Atorney General and the Federal Police have all confirmed that he has commited no offence was in the Australian media today.

  14. Mankind has settled its differences with wars since the beginning of its existence. If you think that you can put a stop to it somehow, have at it. However, disseminating stolen documents and violating national security is still a crime and it is very possible that Mr. Assange will have to answer for it.

    You didn't answer the question.

Ok, help me out here, yes and no suffices as a reply:

    - It is your statement that anyone disseminating stolen documents are open to be killed by anyone for their crimes?

    - Do you also think that crimes of worse nature should give the same, or worse, treatment?

    - Do you think that disseminating stolen documents is a worse crime than murder, rape, incest etc?

Don't hold your breath....... He never answers a straight forward question.
