  1. The link provided to PattayaOne states that it was not a Swede but a Dane that actually owned the Euros that was supposed to be exchanged.

    Geeezzzz.... strange story indeed:

    1. Why did the Dane have Euros in his possession, when the official currency in Denmark is DKK?
    2. Why wasn't he able to exchange the money himself? He couldn't be too occupied, as he later turned up and confirmed the German's story!

BTW....just because the German has tattoos, does that mean he is a criminal? Sound like that when reading the posts in here! :-(

1.The guy might not live in Denmark or he gets paid in Euro's.

Dont think anybody specifically pointed out his tattoos or said he was a criminal, people were just indicating that they wouldn't trust the guy going by the general appearance from the photo I guess. Would you hand over 300K cash to someone like in the photo, im guessing they are not the closest of friend as they come from two different countries.

  2. Hi All,

Has anyone fitted the 351cc big bore kit to either their KLX or D-Tracker. Im currently following up on previous intentions to research and possibly c/o the upgrade to my KLX.

Have been in contact with Bill Blue in the states and he tells me that he has supplied x3 kits to Thailand, see below feedback from him:

    Hey Johnny,

I have sent 3 351 kits to Thailand last year some of the people are using the Two Brothers Juice box to modify the injection system some have used other systems. No one has let me know how the 351 kit works with the EFI.

You will need to send me your cylinder I dont have any cylinders to build the kits with it takes me 2 days to build the 351 kit from start to shipping.

    351 kit is $527.45 + shipping & insurance.

Im very interested to know the outcome, if its reliable or not. Have read some positive feedback on Thumpertalk, also some negative.

If anyone has any info I would really appreciate some feedback/details.

  3. I live at Land and Houses, Siwalee, and very happy with the location. It has everything your asking for (not sure about tennis court though).Im no expert but the build quality appears good compared to others ive lived in.It is located south of the airport and there is air traffic noise but personally it doesnt bother me. Im not sure of the prices as I rent but there are some larger properties that would fit your budget. There building another project/extention to the west.

    Hope this helpsTT

  4. Rode the Samoeng Loop clockwise this morning on my KLX. Departed at 08:30hrs and arrived home at 11:00hrs. Should have worn a jacket as the first half an hour or so was pretty cold, thats a first for me on a bike.

What some wonderful scenery, couldn't help but stop every 10 minutes to take some photos. The road was awesome, although not so great on knobblies. Will have to get some 17's on with some proper road rubber and have another go.

A great morning ride, off for some lunch now.

    Cheers

  5. Hey Nikster,

Thanks for the input. Just got back from the BigC where I picked up another USB micro cable, just to eliminate the cable at fault, and would you believe, ping, showed up straight away in iTunes. Whats more strange I slaved the old cable back into the ATV and it worked also!!!!! dont ask coz I have no idea. The only thing I have done since I couldnt get it connected to iTunes was leave it unplugged over night, so it looks like leaving it unplugged for a while has reset it. It does say on the apple help somewhere if you unplug it from the cord for a few minutes or something it also resets the unit.

Anyway got the thing restored to factory and ill wait until a proper 4.2.1 jailbreak arrives. Havent used any of the other tools you mention, although I have TinyUmbrella and just about to use it to back the ATV SHSH bLobs incase things go pear shaped again.

Thanks again for your input, appreciate it

    Cheers

  6. Hi all,

Today I tried to jailbreak my AppleTV 2G (Black) using PNWage Tools. The OS that was on the ATV was the latest 4.2.1. The dev teams do not have an official JB out for this yet but there is a tethered process that can be done, this youtube video explains how to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EWKr7Ww_c0

The jail-breaking went according to the video, however when I plugged the ATV into my TV at the end it booted up, showed the apple logo on the screen then the signal disappeared. The ATV is in a constant state with the led steadily flashing on and off.

The unit will not be recognize when its tethered to my iMac in iTunes (via USB micro cable) so I cant restore it there also. PWNage tools has a DFU button and asks to "connect device to USB" but when I connect it doesn't see it. Ive tried all sorts of combinations with the remote to get it into DFU mode without much success.

Im trying to jailbreak it so that I can upload Fire Core onto to which transforms it from something pretty useless in Thailand to a multi media powerhouse.

Any experiences or assistance would be gratefully appreciated. Im in CM and if anybody knows any thai/shop that can deal with these sorts of issues would appreciate some details. I know some of these guys are wizards with stuff like this.

    Cheers

  7. It is not a good idea to get in a pissing match with the kind of Thai person that owns bars. If you can get the police to do something to limit them on legal grounds, you will probably be much better off. They usually need a load of licenses, so a policeman can find something to control them if he wants to.

OP has not mentioned whether the owners are Thai or Farang. If Thai yes I agree, it could turn ugly and is why I indicated extreme measures only. As previously mentioned best advise would come from a "Thai" legal advisor.

    All the bset

  8. Bets advise I would have thought would come from a Thai solicitor. Why they approve these establishments in residential areas or specifically private homes is beyond me, but hey TIT.

Good luck with the outcome, I can imagine your frustration.

PS What about if you played your ACDC music pretty loud on your outdoor Bose system while the customers were enjoying there meal or relaxing with a beer, dont think the customers would hang around too long. The management would get the point rather quickly and hopefully come to a compromise with you. However this is pretty extreme measures

  9. Did you have the correct polarity for the 9VDC, 1A adapter as indicated on the trainer? Was the 9 VDC plug a good, snug fit?

Yes correct polarity and a snug fit, and your correct to point this out as its a mistake easily made with the interchangeable tips. I think these cheap multi adapters don't supply the current indicated on their spec labels.

I've since found and contacted this gym equipment dealer in Chiang Mai http://gymtech.tarad.com who are going to order the correct adapter from Bangkok for 500 baht.

Thanks for your input though, good observation.

  10. Most of what you want is available for free already you just need the hardware.

    Hi

great give me some links and enlighten me...I want to quite this untrue relation!

    cheers

    B.

    Google 'card sharing' and dreamboxes.

While its possible to do it free.. Its a lot more plug and play if you pay about 200b a month.

A super reliable net connection is essential.

  11. Hi Everyone,

Wasn't sure where to post this so will try in here first. I have an Elliptical Trainer, Model Spirit XE330. Unfortunately when I moved to Chiang Mai the power adapter got lost. All I can find through google is resellers and cannot for the life of me find where it was manufactured. I went out and bought a multi adapter switchable to 9vdc and rated for 1amp (in photos). According to the sticker at the side of the power point this is whats required. Unfortunately it was a no go. The display was dimly lit, but that was about it. Appeared it wasn't getting enough current. Im a bit concerned of blowing the electronics up with the wrong adapter.

Has anyone got any idea where I can get a suitable replacement or some advice on the correct multi charger. Need to get on it quickly to shed the extra inches gained around the waist over Christmas/New year.

Happy New Year to everyone on TV

    Cheers

  12. Most of what you want is available for free already you just need the hardware.

    Hi Gary,

Would you mind expanding on this, contacts etc.? Would be interested in the alternatives.

Jsat is a Thai Visa sponsor have a look at thier web site they show what is available. I believe they only service the Bangkok area, there are installers in Chiang Mai or if you want I can put you in touch with a guy who knows what he is doing, however he only speaks Thai.

That would be great, if you can PM me with the details...THANKS

  14. Try downloading Vuze(Google)for torrents, with 3BB. Vuze has its own player. It shows those downloading, down/up speeds.Save your legal torrents to a separate external drive of 1Tb or more.Works well, FWIW. Cheers

Vuze (Azureus) is Java based and is heavy on system resources, forget about running any other CPU/RAM intensive programs during Vuze operation, unless you have a super duper computer ofcourse. Theres no doubt the best torrent client for PC/MAC is uTorrent. The setup is a doddle and it does exactly what is says on the tin. Ive never had to mess about with settings on routers, torrent clients or operating systems. I have had the occasional red/orange lights indicating TCP ports blocked, NAt/PMP problem, its best not to touch anything as it sorts itself out. uTorrent preferences/Network there is a box you can check to "Automatically map port (NAT-PMP or UPnP)). I will occassionally randomize the TCP port, you can also select automatic randomize during client launch, but why change something that is working. If you dont get a green connection light just leave it a while and you'll get it eventually. Ive also had good download speeds without the green light.

  15. Have been using torrents for years and the speed of the download has everything to do with the torrent selected. I have noticed recently that during the day 3BB is definitely throttling back the use of torrents, not sure how they do this as I use uTorrent which encripts in/outgoing traffic. After midnight it all kicks back into life and I sometimes see 1.2Mb/s (12meg connection)

  16. Im personally loving the climate, just perfect for me. The simulated British weather dome at Chiang Mai zoo needs to be utilised and used to introduce folk to proper cold weather. Some parts of Scotland were as low as -20C a week or so ago, thats twice as cold as that dome. 15C does not warrant a disaster, come on its not that cold. Im sure though its cold(er) up the mountains and im also sure the hill tribe/Thai folk were allready prepared for the lower temperatures.Next weather thread in 2-3 months, "its too hot"!!!!

  17. ^ just my opinion but you are still a UK resident.Because you reside here on a Non-O doesn't make you a resident.

Sorry have to disagree, I left the UK 7 years ago, completed non-resident application and qualified after five years and no longer required to complete a tax return, call it what you want but im not a resident in the UK for tax purposes. Maybe what you meant to say is I am a UK citizen?

At no point did I state that I was a resident in Thailand because I hold a non O. I was simply stating my status and looking for options to invest through a stock broker as an expat.

Ive had further feedback from Internaxx. Contrary to what they said previously all that is required, according to the reply below and the forms that were sent is a certified copy of my passport which should easily be achievable at any consulate in Thailand and proof of my address in Thailand, ie electricity bill with name on or a residency certificate which can easily be sourced from an immigration office (same form used for buying a car/motorcycle etc with).

At this point I should be up and running tax free with Intermaxx as my broker. Thanks AyG for mentioning this broker, I hope it works out.

I might be jumping the gun slightly, but ive been looking into trading software that will run on a mac. So far Ninjatrader and Share Scope seem to have the best reviews and have loads of support for newbies. Both of these will have to be run on bootcamp or what I use, VMware Fusion as there is no native application support for OSX yet. I am testing Ninjatrader out just now in simulation mode where it then can be linked to a live feed for paper trading and eventually pairing it with a broker for real trading. It all takes time I suppose, less haste more speed as they say.

Having gone through almost the exact same scenario a few months ago, I did the following.

"is a certified copy of my passport which should easily be achievable at any consulate in Thailand"

The British Embassay will charge in the region of 2,000 baht for this service.

I instead went to my local bank, and had them certify the copy of my passport for free, this was accepted as evidence of my address and identity.

I didnt exactly lie, I told the bank I was considering transferring X amount to the account in Thailand and my stockbroker required this paperwork.

The bank copied the passport, then typed up the usual I certify this is a true likeness of Mr X residing at 123 soi abc, Bangkok.

Signed by bank manager and stamped up with the banks stamp, a pain free experience, and less painfull than the fees the British embassay would have inflicted.

Great tip rgs, I was on my way to the consulate in Chiang Mai tomorrow morning to get my passport certified which was going to cost 1,200 baht. As im relatively new to Chiang Mai opening a bank account up this way is still on the list of things to do, so will get both done at the same time, many thanks for the advise.
