  2. I'm married to a Thai.Does this now mean i now need 800,000 in my uk current a/c for 3 months previous to applying for my multi-entry Non immigrant (o)visa, plus another 400,000/ 800,000 in my thai bank for 3 months before making an application for a marriage/retirement visa, therefore making it a total of between 1.2 and 1.6 million baht depending on what visa i choose, all tied up in banks doing nothing and earning nothing in percent.Or would i be granted a retirement visa from the uk based on having 800,000 for a period of 3 or more months in my uk account alone.

Please would someone be kind enough to clarify this.

  3. Hi

Just wondering if anyone of you kind people could help.I'm a British citizen married to a Thai.My multiple entry non-immigrant (o) current 90 Days is due to expire on November 29th 2013, but the main visa is valid until May 2014,with British passport valid till 2017.

I live in Phitsanulok, but always go to Pattaya for a few days holiday and visit friends.During this time i do a visa run to Cambodia, there and back about 9 hours from Pattaya, never a problem and re-enter Thailand with another 90 days on my passport.

I have recently discovered that there's an international border post opened last year at Phu du in Uttaradit approx 220km's from me, going into Paklay,Laos.http://www.rideasia.net/motorcycle-forum/red-tape-border-crossing-requirements/3733-pu-du-border-crossing-uttaradit-province-paklay-laos.html

Being a keen biker i fancied doing a ride there.

    3 Questions:-

    1) Would i still get a 90 day stamp upon re-entering Thailand?

    2) Is there a visa charge for entering Laos,if so how much ?

    3) Would the lao immigration officers allow me to take my bike across the border.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and many thanks for taking the time to read my post.

  4. Been looking for something similar myself and many thanks for the link, but it appears after perusing their website the policy's not worth a w--k.Let me quote from their website.

Benefits & Privileges for Regular Members:-

Free unlimited towing services for a period of 1 year within 15 kms. An additional 20 baht/kms. will apply beyond 15 kms.

Benefits & Privileges for VIP Members:-

Free unlimited towing services for a period of 1 year within 30 kms. An additional 20 baht/kms. will apply beyond 30 kms.

So if for example like myself you like to ride all over the country,if you were living in Chiang Mai and was to break down in say Surat Thani thats an approximate distance of 1335 Kilometers. The company if you're a regular member most generously allows you 15km's free towing and if you're a VIP member they allow you a whopping 30km's,then it's 20 baht each extra km.This calculates at best(VIP MEMBER) to 26,100 Baht and that's on top of your annual membership fee.

At that rate you wouldn't want to breakdown far away from home too often.

I know this is Thailand but it's hardly,Green flag, the AA or the RAC.

Have a look here.... RAC covers 10 miles.....at a much much higher cost.

    http://www.rac.co.uk/breakdown-cover/uk-breakdown/?vehicleCover=true&recovery=true

maybe have to put the criticism on a UK forum?

    Recovery

We'll take you, up to 7 passengers and your car to your chosen destination anywhere in mainland UK.

  5. There's good people and bad people everywhere.I remember once when the I.R.A performed one of their spectaculars in London. One of the victims was asked her feelings towards Irish people. She replied''it was an Irishman who tried to kill her(the bomber) and an Irishman who saved her life (the surgeon) and that she held no grudge against anyone. This in my opinion is an admirable but correct and open-minded view.

  6. I used to like Thai, but not anymore.Do they honestly take people to be stupid?Obviously they do.I think this will end up costing them a nice few Baht.

I would personally recommend any of the 5 that come out of the U.A.E,never in all my years of flying have i had a problem with them, and there's hardly a whiskers difference between them. They are:-

    GULF AIR OUT OF BAHRAIN

    EMIRATES OUT OF DUBAI

    ETIHAD OUT OF ABU DHABI

    QATAR OUT OF DOHA

    OMAN OUT OF MUSCAT

If i had to single one out as being marginally better it would be OMAN AIR.

  8. Ironic...this same forum advertises several online-dating services for Thai girls..the same ones that will rob you blind and/or cash you in for a green card back home. What a demented world, it has truly become.

Do the same Thai girls hold a gun to your head and say ''I'm gonna rob you"or does the farang allow it to happen.Who's to blame? you decide. In case you hadn't noticed there's good and bad people of all colours, creed and religion in all walks of life.

  9. I wonder if he hadn't been caught would he have voluntarily gone to the police and said "I'm terribly sorry but i've just kamoyed an a/c unit coz i wanted to knock it out to pay for treatment for my sick son''.

The crime wasn't in the thieving of the a/c unit, the crime was getting caught. It doesn't matter whether or not it's 3 in the morning, there's always a Thai see's or hears something,it's just their nosyness you see. They're the equivalent of the good old British curtain twitcher.

  10. Sickening.I'm sure i also read somewhere they've dropped the drink driving and the stuffing nose candy up his rich little bugle charge.

One has to ask if he wasn't under the influence of both, would the accident ever have occured and perhaps the poor unfortunate copper God rest his soul, would still be alive.

The higher they are the filthier it gets.Just like a bunch of Bananas not a straight one amongst them.
