I've frequently visited PI and their lack of solid infrastructure is the 2nd most important deterrent. I sadly admit that the #1 deterrent is the lack of ANYTHING like Walking Street/LK Metro/Soi 6/Soapy Massage rooms. I am such a slave to my tallywhacker! The Philippines offers NO nude/topless dancers, NO short time rooms (at least that I could find), it just seems like Jomtien offers it all. Close enough to the action, great apartment with an ocean view, good health care, far away enough from Pattaya monger spillover.

I went there Tuesday morning for both 90 day reporting and show money in the bank for 90 days, NO ONE in any queue for either reporting. In and out in under 10 minutes. The gal at the desk didn't even bother giving me a queue ticket, she said just go on to the desk.

Always got it same day, different strokes I suppose.....
Different Immigration offices. Jomtien has been "next day service" as far back as I can recall. Of course, my memory is shorter than my tallywhacker, so take that as you will.

Lucky dogs! (I tried to stop myself but was weak)

Email me when anything happens~very little know-how or human resources to make this succeed. Most of the people that can do this choose to leave Thailand
I have a friend here in Thailand who is the hiring manager for a Fortune 100 firm. He has a devil of a time trying to hire SAP programmers and this TM30 garbage was the feather that broke the camel's back. He's fed up and seeking life elsewhere.

Personally, I only rent. I tried ownership and it wasn't my cup of tea. She and I are STILL friends and friends we will always remain. I've heard in some European countries it's quite acceptable for a man to have a little "strange on the side" as long as it's kept discreet. And isn't that the very definition of a "gick?" I have a friend in Jomtien whose Thai gf tells him she doesn't care if he plays around as long as he wears a raincoat and NEVER brings the gick home.

How can a government that created these problems in order to line their own pockets (and buy some DAMNED nice watches!) be expected to fix these problems? They got theirs, too bad for the rest of us.

I live in Bangkok and visit Pattaya often. None of the local people I have spoken with even like Indian people. Everyone tells me that they are cheap, rude and smell. I know this to be true because I worked with Indian people for many years. I have literally seen bar girls stand in the doorway and tell the Indian men to go somewhere else.
I've had more than my fair share of soapies. While waiting for the tub to fill, I'd chat with the girls, and invariably the subject of favorite/least favorite customers came up. Absolutely 100% agreed that men from India didn't want to get cleaned up in the bath and were mainly interested in butt sex. As Sgt. Joe Friday would say, "Just the facts, ma'am."

Mother taught me that if you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all.
So I have no comment about the Indians.
I see what you did there!

Business people I know have been burned too many times to deal with their shenanigans any more. Time will tell.

So, will this officially replace "Thainess?"

Watch the cost skyrocket.

I shopped at Tesco this week on one of their "No plastic bags" days. I had a backpack in my motorbike storage and didn't need any bags. Before I knew it, the cashier had put my stuff in a plastic bag. So much for THAT policy.

To Hell with them; what about innocent Bystanders and Motorists ? The Police here remind me of the old Wild West as they don't care where their bullets land either !
THANK you!!! "The car was riddled with bullets." I'm betting NONE of the BiB shooters are crack shots and not ALL the bullets fired landed in the car.

My conclusion is something I have often worried over. Once you use an agent you are going to be a repeat customer. The charge you paid was expensive at 28.000 baht, even including a multiple re-entry permit.
Still, no need to leave 800,000 in a bank account I bet.
That's what I've always wondered about, having to show the 800k was still in your bank account even when it clearly was not. THAT kind of stuff is obviously very illegal and I'd hate to be the first one when immigration decided to make examples of cheating farangs!

Immigration will take care of everything INCLUDING a new multiple re-entry for 18 or 19k baht. Speaking from personal experience.

What's good for you would be the LAST option I would ever choose (owning a home in Phuket). I rent a large two-bedroom condo in Na Jomtien overlooking the Gulf of Thailand on the 26th floor of a really nice building. Perfect for me, and many people would say "Never for me." My favorite saying learned in Thailand - Up to you.

As long as Thailand continues to pay its police near-starvation wages, why should anything change?
I know a pro-Thaksin officer, was upper mid level. Three nice cars, beautiful home, lovely wife. Then came the regime change. He wasn't fired, but was moved to an inactive post where all he received was his salary. Within a year, cars all gone along with his wife and he had to move into a much humbler studio apartment. Of COURSE if they're not paid a living wage they will abuse their positions.

51% teens pregnancy? This is huge. In my country I know almost nobody who got pregnant before finishing high school...
I don't buy that number for a second, and if this number is wildly inaccurate, what does that say about all the other numbers?

Why not ask any owner of such a sidecar, they soon tell you where to get it. Easy????

Good news coming for expats regarding 90 day reporting - TM 28 and TM 30 being discussed Friday

I used it a year ago successfully. Tried it again this week and it failed. For what it's worth, I then went to Jomtien Immigration Tuesday and the gal at the entry desk didn't even bother giving me a queue ticket, there was no one else there. She said "Just go." Less than 10 minutes for BOTH 90 day reporting and showing them my "90 day money-in-the-bank" paperwork.
