  1. I had mine done when it was new three years ago and we paid 20,000 Baht. That was a 3 bedroom Bungalow with 11 windows, a large front door area and a routine back door. There are many designs to choose from and they are all different prices so some of the cost depends on your choices. I shopped around for a couple of weeks before I chose and I was quoted between 18,000 and 38,000 Baht, so there is plenty of choice.

    Sounds about right.

  2. I guess this same rule should not apply to cop killers. It is funny that mister tough on crime has a son who is a cop killer. How is that punishment working out for him? Ohh that is right Daddy plays by the double standard rule. There are rules for the non "elites" and "elites".

Very true!! Chalerm is a shame for the country.

  3. I agree with the Thais to a certain extend. In my country (Brazil) foreigners could own unlimited amounts of land until a few years ago. You know what happened? The Chinese came in and bought vast amounts of agriculture land, I am talking about huge areas that equal the size of small countries in Europe. They come in <snip> up the soil with their polluting pesticides and herbicides all to produce food mostly for their cattle back in China. This is a real problem in Brazil nowadays and many other countries in South America. In Panama, central America they did the same thing, the tip of the country on the pacific side is almost entirely owned by Chinese companies, not even the Panamanians can get in there. I would not be surprised they are doing this in Thailand because of the Chinese.

Sorry, but In Thailand foreigners never could and stll can't own land. There might be some, very few exemptions. But in general, all the land is owned by Thais.

The article is a typical case of TIT. They're discussing matters that doesn't exist.

  4. The whole article is a farce.

    1. If farangs with 1 Mio Baht can own land, why would they need to go through a spouse or company ??

    2. Therefore, land owned by a spouse or Thai company, is still thai owned.

    3. The headline of this article is therefore an ad absurdum. (NONSENSE)

This general doesn't know what he's talking about.....and by doing so, he fits himself perfectly into TIT.

    LOL

  5. The homemade one from Jo's bakery in Ban Nam Prae in Hang Dong (not easy to find) is pretty good and without sugar. Jo does it only on request. I think it's 400 g for around 60 Baht. Always available are his homemade mustard and pickled gerkins. His bread is good as well (baking twice a week,Tue/Fr). He sells imported cheese at a reasonable price too. Open only from 13:00, closed on Monday.

  6. cheers guys this stuff to going to tenerife and i have done my home work as lived in tenerife and nothing like this is there yet but the prices the beach girls are selling they swim wear and making a profit most be cheap to buy and the prices in tenerife are round 15 to 20 euro.s a set so i gues i will have to try and find him but we have hit ok with the rayon dresses so just need the swim wear it we are done. the only problem we may have is it being send over when we need more ?

Everything (clothes, textile stuff) being sold on Samui comes from Pratunam, Bobe, etc. You should really get things done in BKK rather than Nathon

  7. The "we gave the deposit to ower" sounds suspect to say the least. If they handled the rent, inspection, etc, they are the owners paid agent.

If the deposit is due you and you have supporting documents, go in to their place of business, talk to the boss, if no safication, make a general pest of yourself on a regular basis,., inform potential customers, etc.

Spot on Rich, and slapout on haggis

  8. Hi there, how to find the orchard ? any map or pics ? Cheers

I tried to scan a map for you but I was unsuccessful. It's really easy to find though. Go to and through Mae Rim, turn left at the road leading to Samoeng and it's about 1 kilometer on the left, near the crest of the first hill.

Thank you. Will check it out.

  9. More likely that the pet was either 'hurt' in an accident, or just got adopted by someone else.

I have a friend who lost their dog and he came back after three years. Now and again the dog still 'disappears' to its other owner!

Have you spoken to the dog rescue people?

More 'exotic' pets do sometimes get stolen - but not for the table. I had a well trained German Shepherd. Lots of Thais asked me if they could have my dog. I always said "yes - and he costs at least 500 baht a day to feed - then there are the vet's bills and up to 6 walks a day. Rain or shine". No one ever took my dog.

I had a sheperd too. Got bitten by a cobra, trying to defend me. Very brave dog.

But this is about a cat. And yes, I've asked Brigitte from dog and cat rescue.

She couldn't help, but said there are definately people nicking animals here.

Just trying to find out, if there are others with a similar case.

She could'nt help, but said there are people nicking animals on the island.

So, I'm just trying to find out, if there are any others who lost their pets.

  11. Pet meat trade?

I think you'd be very hard pressed to find any place, even a secret one, that serves dog meat in Samui.

I'm not talking about places that serve dog/cat meat on Samui.

I mean pets being stolen here, smuggled and sold to restaurants in Vietnam and China.

  12. Yes, Samui roads are the worst. Anywhere on the mainland roads are better. Comparing with the other islands only Koh Phangan and Koh Tao may be worse but these are smaller islands with much less population and budget. Koh Chang, Koh Lanta have much better, bitumen roads, not to mention Phuket of course. I guess Samui roads are the reflection of the corruption here which is arguably the worst in the country as well.

    Spot on !
