If the list published by the BBC is read fully, this clearly states that a new list is to be decided on and listed on Thursday and should refer to the list of red countries in S.America and Asia. Let‘s see if the to be published list excludes Thailand a.o.

I am a PR living in Chiang Mai. When and if Chiang Mai (supposedly November 1) opens and fully vaccinated (I have two AZ vaccinations), people do not need to enter quarantine, I would like to go to Europe for a short while (app. 2 weeks). Will a CoE still be necessary and if so, can one obtain one here before leaving on holiday. Obviously, as a PR holder, I have a reentry visa and a stamp on my PR book allowing me to leave and return within 12 months.
Your views and advice would be greatly appreciated

Fully vaccinated, both shots AstraZeneca, both here in Thailand.

I do know of honest people who used the system to return to Thailand, their permanent residence. There was nothing wrong about it. They had the choice of flying to Bangkok and spend 14 days in hotel quarantine, or fly to Phuket, stay there 14 days wandering around and enjoying their time there and then returning home, wherever that is in Thailand. So, what's wrong with this, it’s a win-win solution.

Yes, I got my second AZ shot yesterday. I got my first jab on June 7. and had an appointment for the second one for September 27. I was contacted about three weeks ago, advising me that my appointment for the second AZ shot had been changed to August 30. There was no fuss and I was in and out in 35 minutes. The whole place was very well run.

I have talked to sandboxers that are on holiday for a few weeks and others that have arrived on a more long term basis. Every one of them are happy to be here, enjoying their relative freedom and are certainly not 'stuck'. There is also no perception that they think they are only wanted here for their money or can go home.
How nice and refreshing to read a positive comment instead of the usual saddening, complaining ones. many thanks!

And that is why after 14 yrs i changed to a marriage visa 2 yrs ago,on another note, saying how much Thai banks have in unpaid loans ,3 years ago i phoned the bank to ask how much they wanted for a house on our estate,29 million , about 3 weeks ago i phoned again 15 million," i cant afford it i replied ,oh the owner will cut to 12 million ime sure" and thats just one property, been empty for about 5 to 6 yrs.i reckon at the very most its worth 8 million these days.
Well, looking at ads and speaking to real estate people. one thing is certain, it is a buyer's market. Some properties, not only condos, have dropped by 50% in value.

KannikaP... It says, "DPA offers protection to both Thai and foreign individuals and juristic persons who hold accounts in the Thai currency in any of 35 financial institutions" So, it doesn't seem like it would affect other currencies, but that would be worth sussing out for sure.
There is NO PROTECTION to foreign currency accounts. However, If one has accounts with the bigger , assume safer banks like Bangkok Bank , SCB, etc, I doubt that one has reasons to worry. Remembering the 1997/8 awful crisis, the bigger financial institutions were OK.

Here I am "up country" and got my first shot of AZ day before yesterday. At least the label on my form for next time says it's AZ... Batch No. and all !
Wonder if there is any info on AZ first and Sinovac second ! ????
Do you have a date for your second jab? As far as I could gather, they don't intend vaccinating first with AZ and a second jab of Sinovac. It's only the other way around, at least for now.......
-
Most people up country(Thai and expatriates with pink cards over 60) who got their first AZ jab in June have appointments extending to 16 weeks in between first and second jab. Are these appointments reduced now to 12 weeks for the second AZ jab? Noting that in deep red provinces the pause between the two AZ jab is 12 weeks, one would assume that 12 weeks is the maximum allowable pause. Or am I wrong????

Solar with batteries, silent power until the batteries are exhausted, then just silence!
Genset, rather noisier power until the fuel is exhausted, then re-fill the tank and continue! Rinse and repeat as often as required.
If it's purely reliable backup power you need then it's the diesel genset every time. Of course you have fuel costs to meet but diesel is cheap and most will run on a mix of used cooking oil if you have a source.
We are currently experimenting with an on-grid solar hybrid, stores excess solar power in the batteries, then once they're full export excess to the grid (net metering, conventional meter going backwards). Use the stored power at night (still grid-tie) but retain some for the power failures. Inverter and batteries $$$. I'll add to the car-port thread when I have something useful.
What are the costs of the system you are currently experimenting?
-
If the solar cells and batteries can be installed at reasonable costs, I would be very interested. Have tried a generator, but stopped using it, too loud and complicated to use.

Happy Birthday and many, many healthy and happy returns of the day, dear friend!

Ie. If they work from Thailand they must pay income tax even if they import that income in the following calendar year/s.
Not quite. You are right if the income is generated from Thailand, or generated working for a Thai company out of Thailand. However, if the income is generated oversea from a source which is not present in, nor connected to Thailand then the only income taxed here is income brought into Thailand and earned in the same Tax year

I am British and was taught a million had SIX noughts. So how many in a billion, please? And a trillion too?
Very simple. Add three 0 to the million to make it a billion, and a further three 0 to male it a trillion. For continental Europe a Milliard is a billion and a billion stands for a trillion. Clear????????

If you look at my post, I was replying to the poster who said he could get the vaccine where he lives, not in Bangkok.
You are right, but I was asking where is it where the poster could get the A/Z outside Bangkok.

Got a Sinovac shot last Wednesday. On August 4 I should receive my AZ one. Mix-and-match may not be ideal, but I take it over nothing at all.
Where did you get the first shot, and where is it for the next one??

I'm double jabbed, one shot AZ, one shot Pfizer, so I'm good.
But if I had health issues and I was in Thailand I would be gone by now to somewhere I could get a jab, like my home country. Things are only going to get worse IMO.
So I would pose the question, how bad do things have to get in Thailand, before people decide to leave to get a jab.
Unfortunately, if you don't live in Bangkok, I don't know how to get out to a country where I can get a vaccine. There are no flights, trains or buses from the north to Bangkok and one can only take international flights from Bangkok (or Phuket????)

Risking other lives ? How?
By infecting others with the virus. The risks are small? How about the recent figures, including mortality rates?

And going to bangkok on short notice won't suit everyone.
Just gets yours where you live.
Easier said than done. Presently it is practically. Impossible to get the AZ vaccine in most provinces. Where can one get this vaccine?

Mexico, Thailand and more could be removed from red travel list
in Thailand News
Posted
The report about Thailand probably being removed from the red list on Thursday, has proved to be correct. Not only has Thailand been removed from the red list, but, at least AZ, administered in Thailand. is being recognized in the UK as fully vaccinated. Very positive developments for Thais and Thai Residents intending travelling to the UK.
