Here are the charges Representative Jaime Raskin, a Maryland Democrat, announced the following charges against Donald Trump had been recommended to the Department of Justice: Obstruction of an official proceeding Conspiracy to defraud the United States Conspiracy to make a false statement Inciting, assisting, aiding, or comforting an insurrection These referrals are not legally binding, but Raskin said they have ample evidence to back up their recommendations. The justice department is conducting its own separate investigation into the riot. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-us-canada-63994477- 10 replies

The House select committee examining the Jan. 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol is holding its final public meeting. The panel is expected to consider criminal referrals for former President Donald Trump and possibly for other figures who played a role in the failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election. This week, the committee, which will be disbanded at the end of the year, is expected to also release a comprehensive report with findings and recommendations from its 18-month investigation. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/live-updates/jan6-committee-meeting-live-updates/?id=95423616

The government's plan to deport migrants to Rwanda is lawful, the High Court has ruled. The court ruled on Monday that the scheme did not breach the UN's Refugee Convention or human rights laws. But the cases of eight asylum seekers had not been "properly considered" and would need to be reconsidered, judges added. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-64024461

Retiring Sen. Pat Toomey said Sunday he would urge his successor not to work to kill the filibuster. Speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union,” the two-term Pennsylvania Republican said he would tell Sen.-elect John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and his Democratic colleagues: “Don’t blow up the Senate by destroying the filibuster. That would be a terrible thing for America, for our government, for the Senate, certainly. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/12/18/toomey-fetterman-filibuster-senate-00074481

It took a decade and a half, but he did it. It took years of disappointment, a brief retirement from the Argentina national team, five World Cup appearances, a ton of frustration, the survival of two wild and furious France comebacks and a nerve-shredding penalty shootout Sunday. But history will only remember that on a December night in Qatar, the world's most popular player finally won soccer's most important trophy, as his country beat France in one of the most thrilling finals in World Cup history. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/soccer/lionel-messi-powers-argentina-past-france-in-dramatic-world-cup-final

A look at their site does not indicate that their services are restricted to Females of Africa/Caribbean descent. It does state that they SPECIALIZE in domestic abuse of African/Caribbean descent. Many charities have specialized services for a particular group. That does not mean they turn others away. Like many charities, they will refer you to an appropriate organization for the type of problem you are facing. It does not become racist or sexist unless the same type of services aren't available to people on a broader scale. So are the services offered by this organization available to everyone who is a victim of domestic abuse? I suspect the services are. I suspect that there is no preference in funding various charities dealing with domestic abuse for African/Caribbean victims. I also suspect men of all colors can access services for domestic violence. The information being posted is most likely false and it is misleading. Please stop. -

The head of America’s largest shale oil operator has hit back at White House claims that his industry is acting against the national interest by failing to speed up drilling, insisting that doing so would hurt energy stocks. Putting profits into rapid production growth at the expense of shareholder returns will drive investors away and leave the “back down” sector of the stock market, said Scott Sheffield, chief executive of Texas-based Pioneer Natural Resources. Amos Hochstein, the White House’s chief energy adviser, told the Financial Times it was “un-American” for companies to funnel record profits linked to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine into shareholder returns. https://biz.crast.net/americas-biggest-shale-operator-says-more-drilling-will-hurt-the-industry/#:~:text=America's biggest shale operator says more drilling will hurt the industry,-by Harold Vazquez&text=Putting profits into rapid production,Texas-based Pioneer Natural Resources.
