The Justice Department is asking a federal judge to hold Donald Trump in contempt of court for failing to comply with a subpoena issued this summer ordering the former president to turn over records marked classified, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN. The development comes after Trump’s legal team said it conducted searches at four locations just before Thanksgiving, finding two documents with classified markings at a storage facility in Florida. The Trump team turned over those two documents to the FBI and announced to a federal judge in Washington, DC, that they believed Trump was now in compliance with a 6-month-old subpoena. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/08/politics/doj-trump-contempt-classified-documents/index.html

Is detention on a Saturday legal in Thal schools?
Scott replied to Smee's topic in Primary & Secondary Education
I've not known it to be used as a punishment for misbehavior, but occasionally students are required to attend on a Saturday due to poor academic performance. It's rare, but it does happen. -

Police and medical personnel were called to the Texas home of Sen. Ted Cruz Tuesday night after reports of a 14-year-old girl at the property suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds to her arms. The teen was taken to the hospital shortly after. It’s unclear who the girl was—though Cruz does have two daughters: Catherine, 11, and Caroline, 14. In a response to The Daily Beast, a representative for his office said: “This is a family matter, and thankfully their daughter is OK.” https://news.yahoo.com/police-called-ted-cruz-texas-045239352.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAEIHBOFLS-7N8ko7X9X6CoeHmw43ySr3xkYglICHPzeWJubthh_uOAvRAW-_xm73RRq2e1K_SEo3uXVQITY7bekp8iLeSeXgdbtfqBnuuqiaBdh9N2WkbH-sgObPZ5lBVKLJRg1ql3OfGDrLK6bENF7g0K4vLUDz57y4AJ6A-W-Z

Lukashenko understands that at some point Putin will carry out an operation to join Belarus into Russia, Pavlo Klimkin believes At the same time, the diplomat noted that Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko had not yet "granted" the Russian dictator a final union of Belarus with Russia – "which would make Putin say: ‘Well, we are finally getting our Belarus back’.” Klimkin also stated that Putin does not trust Lukashenko, and understands that the Belarusian dictator "draws money from him" to keep the Belarusian economy afloat. "And under the current sanctions, what can Belarus do economically?” the former Ukrainian minister asked. https://news.yahoo.com/russia-plans-annex-belarus-says-095700490.html

Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock has defeated Republican Herschel Walker in his bid for re-election, NBC News has projected. The victory earns a six-year term for Warnock, grants Democrats a 51-49 edge in the Senate, and brings an end to Walker’s tortured run for office. Ahead of Tuesday's runoff, Warnock's campaign relied on an extensive get-out-the-vote effort involving activist groups and more than 900 staffers — hundreds more than they had on staff ahead of the general election in November. https://www.msnbc.com/the-reidout/reidout-blog/raphael-warnock-wins-georgia-senate-runoff-election-2022-rcna53201
