A 16-year-old girl and a 61-year-old woman were killed by a gunman in a shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis, Missouri, on Monday morning, according to authorities. The gunman "was quickly stopped by police," there was an exchange of gunfire and the suspect has also died, according to the St. Louis Public School District and St. Louis police. Leslie Jordan, the beloved actor, writer, and singer, has died at the age of 67. TMZ reports that Jordan died Monday (October 24th) after suffering a medical emergency and crashing his car into the side of a building. Fourth- and eighth-graders fell behind in reading and had the largest ever decline in math, according to a national educational assessment showing the devastating effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on America’s children. Police received a report on Sunday morning that the wreaths were removed from the memorial in Lower Square The vandalism of a war memorial in Kilkeel, County Down, is being treated as a hate crime by police. A number of poppy wreaths were removed from the memorial and were later found in a river and lying on a road. A 25-year-old man has been charged with the racially aggravated assault of a leading American musician in a Welsh seaside town. Hefin Parker from Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, has also been charged with a second offence of assaulting Morris Pleasure, known as Mo, a former member of the band Earth, Wind and Fire. Boris Johnson is "clearly" still going to stand to be prime minister, after holding talks with his rival Rishi Sunak, one of his supporters has said. Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg told the BBC the ex-PM had the 100 backers needed to be in the contest. Gallup, New Mexico CNN — Sadie Acevedo is living an endless cycle of grief. Her sister, Anthonette Cayedito, went missing from the family home in Gallup, New Mexico, one evening in 1986 and has not been seen since then. Acevedo believes Cayedito’s disappearance may have been tied to a relative. “I have a hole inside of my life because we don’t know where she is,” Acevedo told CNN. Hurricane Roslyn slammed into west-central Mexico on Sunday morning, “bringing damaging winds, a life-threatening storm surge and flooding rains,” forecasters said. Roslyn made landfall around 7:20 a.m. ET near Santa Cruz in northern Nayarit state. Hong Kong CNN — China’s former top leader, Hu Jintao, was unexpectedly led out of Saturday’s closing ceremony of the Communist Party Congress, in a moment of drama during what is typically a highly choreographed event. Hu, 79, was seated in a prominent position at the front table in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, directly next to his successor, current leader Xi Jinping, when he was approached by a staff member, video of the meeting shows. The Kremlin is threatening retaliatory action after authorities arrested Artyom Uss, the son of a top Russian official, at the United States’ request, for allegedly participating in a sanctions evasion and money laundering scheme.
