Thailand's rice farmers are getting squeezed already, cost of production is up, price for sale of rice low all a wage hike will do is put laborers out of work as farmers turn to machines to do the job cheaper/ bigger investment firms move to other countries

but carry on, you reap what you sow, exports are already suffering a wage hike can only make things worse

Yes drinking and driving can be dangerous as bad drivers become worse but I for one do not care don't do it myself but don't care still, life is inherently dangerous get over it maybe we need to pick a continent for those that like to be told what to do and move them there so they can then live happily with ever increasing rules regulations and clamp downs on everything then they can be happy and leave everyone else alone .

All you need is a pair of EYES, wasn't there a law banning the burning of paddy and sugar cane with a fine of 5000 bht which nobody took any notice of !!

When the shin government put the minimum wage up to bht 300, a lot of subsistence farmers cut down and just made rice for the family as they could not afford to pay it, then because the farm stores had to pay more in wages they put up the price of chemicals and fertilizers making rice farming more expensive, we used to use local labour to help plant and harvest the rice but now we hire the machines to do the job, giving a wage rise is not always the answer as once prices go up they very seldom come down again. what it does do however is put people out of work and some smaller firms/ businesses to close down
