Travel around Europe, the Americas, Australia, Africa and even other Asian countries, and they will see that Thailand doesn't really have that much to offer. With 1.9 billion, I can build an IT factory, capable of producing EVERYONE a tablet at the same low price as the China. As for the flood thingy, do not depend on the government to solve this. We pay tax so they can protect our well being, but when it comes to water management, it is in a grey area. They can always say it's act of god. so, Trust yourself and follow your instincts. My cats and dogs arent blaming me of the flood.. If I rescue them in the process of rescuing myself, then they're safe. If not, Then they drown with me. The government will never win when it comes to this matter. Share of freedom. In china, the politicians are the only free people who treat their citizens like animals. Vietnam, on the other hand, has reformed. They are democratic yet they observe the limits of their freedom so as not to kill their own country. Unlike Thailand of course. 'Bring the money to me'. Thats whats most important in Thailand now. Shane, you could consider Air Asia X - they run a route from KUL to OOL (Cooloongatta) at pretty reasonable rates. From KUL there are several flights to HKT.

From brisvegas to OOL - Qld rail offers a rail-bus service.

Thai people cannot afford to hire locals anymore. We learn it from other countries. Taiwan and Japan once invested in Thailand because they couldn't afford manufacturing in their own countries. Now even the Thais cannot even afford local labor. Therefore if there were anymore investments from overseas, we shall be expecting more in retail rather than manufacturing. 'Spend more than produce'. When this is the case, it's all downhill.
