  1. Flood prone city with bomb hazard and scammy/corrupt useless officials. This is the city of angels? No, this city is a tourist magnet. For tourists who have money to throw around but are not interested in seeing the country. They have other intentions in mind. Just face it. There's nothing spectacular in Thailand anymore. Dirty beaches covered with umbrellas, scammy vendors, corrupt immigration officers and policemen, westernized Thai cuisine, dangerous roads and drivers, political unrests. I'm smart. I migrated to Australia already.

  2. Why is everyone bashing this PM? Whether she be woman, puppet, smart, or stupid is totally irrelevant. Problem is she's now a politician, therefore not to be trusted. Thai people should focus on the problem and appoint a team of water management professionals to think up a strategy. The team should be paid by whichever government in power and only them whose judgment on the matter be considered. (of course they would also be watched by ombudsman and the anti-corruption people. There are always greedy people out there whose objective is to get a hundred billion baht budget)

  3. Abhisit's government failed. Thailand failed. Yingluck's government fails, Thailand fails. Whats the difference? Nothing. Thailand is hopeless. Unless someone new, promising, and does it for the passion of our King and the well being of Thailand, will our country wake up and reunite to compete with the rest of the world. Politics is a thing of the past. We have to start to face reality. Solve the flood phenomena together, solve corruption together, solve drug trafficking together, solve human trafficking together. Rather than UTILIZING these issues to bash each other!!

  4. Ignorant. Nobody knows the situation. The problem with our world is we PRE-judge (Funny that's where the word prejudice comes from). I guess you were there when she was swallowing them.? Have you ever heard of people being forced do things? lol WOOOW .. Do you know they didn't kidnap or threaten her? Do you know her entire story? Kill first then maybe ask questions later! I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Like talking to brain-washed government workers.

If you don't know of people who have been affected by drugs, you never must walk outside your house, have any family, have any friends, or know anybody. EVERYBODY knows of someone who's been affected by drugs LOL.

You have a very good point. Many offenders are victims of hostage situations or are financially crippled. They have no choice. Upon agreement, they have already accepted the risk involved.. unlike the unfortunate who are never exposed to the real world. Thailand should make it loud and clear. Even on TV. (I remember an antidrug campaign in Australia and even Bangkok Hilton works.!) EVERYONE should be warned that this path is the end of life. PERIOD.

  5. Simple. A terror warning is not the same thing as a do not travel warning. The threat of Hezbollah terrorists in Thailand targeting western targets in light of the somewhat likely bombing of Iran by Israel remains real.

Things have to get REALLY BAD in a country for there to be do not travel/get out now alerts. Like in Syria now.

Schmember, almost 30 thousand quotes.! TV must be your life! Will there be a celebration?

  6. Given recent references, mostly vague and inconspicuous, to Thailand as a possible failed state, this isn't surprising from the US. Nevertheless, I'm sure the State Department is up to its regular manipulative shenanigans. That picture is too close and rather unflattering. She looks less real than the girl's smile at Au Bon Pain. And sometimes, I can't help but comment on the US government's obliqueness as a totally unflattering American phenomenon. Foreign governments like China love it, because they can play right in tune. I just want to say to "What are ya blathering on about now, Kennedy?" This does fit with the current Thai government's concept of proper evidence: "If we say its so, ITS SO! Are listening to...?"

Hmmmm, I reread your own comments several times and still don't know what you are trying to say. Can you please tell me what YOU are on about without the confused/confusing innuendo?

Me too. Very confusing and convoluted.

I third that opinion. Can you translate into Thai or sthg? My English is no good. It's only my first language, please use simpler words..

  7. Moving the capital would be ideal.

If we disregard the millions of billions invested in property development and the number of lives and families that are bound to their birthland and their ancestor's ancestor's birthland, and the history this capital holds.

Yet, it still does not compare to the millions of lives and their livelihood that will be affected in the process, whether it takes 20 years, or 200 years.

Building a dyke around the whole city is cheaper. (excluding the bits and pieces of the pie that some officials expect to get for their authorisation autograph..)

  8. Devil's Island in Thailand?

Fantastic, a Thai Alcazar sorry Alcatraz smile.png

Thailand already has one.... or had one.

They could simply re-open the prison on Koh Tarutao.

It has already had its torture pits reconstructed.

Just make sure the island prison remains supplied this time around so as to prevent the guards and prisoners working together as

    The Pirates of Tarutao.

    (very good book).

Oh, Buchholz, I do hope you got the book out of a library and didn't buy one. Otherwise your money would have gone to a TRT Politician, Pongpol Adireksarn aka Paul Adirex, giggle.gif . Cue response comparing Thaksin/PTP/banned TRT/Red Shirts to "The Pirates of Tarutao"...........

What? I thought he's a retired politician. I read the "King Kong Effect" also a very good book. Tho' "Pirates of Tarutao" is more exciting.

  9. This is going to be very difficult as most of the new police who bought their was in to get the position haven't yet collected enough returns from their investment. The costs of some positions fetch up to a hundred million. How tight the security for police entry exams is just a disguise. At the end of the day, you can throw the exam sheets away and they will already have the best man or woman for each position.

  10. Who are they joking??!!! the numbers of tourists declined to a low margin and have stayed low ever since! thrive where? Its only the local Thais travelling over new years.!! normally I would have a few dozen friends show up every year for new years, This year NONE! Your old tricks' not working anymore, youse better think of some real action plan!!!

  11. Thailand was once a leading world producer of rice. But that was long gone when people started selling off their farmlands for a few bahts to get a better life. Whether they did or not, nevermind. But with that kind of attitude, What was once a backbone for Thai exports slowly diminished. Vietman, India, and most of all, China, has all the signature characteristics of Thailand's once 'best rice'. Their prices are lower and availability certain. It takes a miracle to turn Thailand back to what once was glory.
