A DVD without a DVD option would be pretty silly, wouldn't it? -
can you understand today's actors mumbling on tv?

I totally agree with the posters that have to use the subtitles. Many times I have given up trying to watch something if it doesn't have subtitles as i have no idea what is going on. Watching old movies or TV shows, I generally have no problem (except with some regional accents). This must be a common problem and you would think that the program makers were aware and actually do something about it. While they are at it, they could quit doing so many dark scenes. It is doubly infuriating when you can't see what is going on because the scene is so dark! -
Concerns after two foreign women sunbathe in Chiang Mai temple

They were not half naked and they were not in the temple, they were lying in the grass outside. I have seen plenty of Thai women dressed similarly in temple grounds. They will put a wrap around if they enter the actual temple. -

You know nothing about them yet you call them pathetic specimens! I prefer to think that they most likely didn't realise that sunbathing there may cause offense to anyone. They are in Thailand after all - not Iran! -
Smoking is an addiction and I believe that it has been proved that increasing the price does little to encourage people to quit. I know just how hard it is to quit smoking, I tried many times. Only after a health matter was I finally able to give up. Low income people with a smoking addiction will still spend money on cigarettes even though they cannot afford it, so their families suffer. In Thailand they do have the option of cheap tobacco, but I think that they may be even worse for health with thick rolling papers and no filters.

That would be a great idea for the government to reduce the road death statistics. Give everyone with a motorbike a car to replace the bike. With all those cars on the road instead of bikes - near zero accidents and near zero deaths because traffic would be at a standstill most of the time! -
Pattaya: Pathway hazard caused by parked cars, potholes, and uneven tiles

I've seen a few people come a cropper with those floor tiles on the pathway when they are wet. You would have to be a complete moron to use them outside! -

Thai Government Debates Alcohol Advertising, Sales Hours

It is not the logo on a soda water. The adverts for soda/mineral water with the same name as the big beer brands, keep the brand name familiar. This means that the brewers sell more of their beers. Don't ask me why, because I don't know, but I do know that the advertisers know what works. -
Fruits and vegetables are always expensive if you buy them in the supermarkets. In the Thai markets fruit prices are pretty much seasonal. At the moment oranges start at 20 Baht/kilo. Veg in the market can fluctuate from day to day, but mostly quite stable. Toms at the moment can be 50 Baht/kilo 1 day and 20 Baht the next. Good size bundles of Chinese Kale are 10 Baht. Carrots are always cheap.

Difficult to make out in the photo. The motorcyclists are on the wrong side of the road? It appears to be a child standing in the road, so did the driver swerve to avoid him/her? -

Amazing photo! They managed to get every single person in it looking bored stiff. I think that the photographer must have said "Say Jeez" instead of "say cheese". -
I always assumed that sugar is used during the brewing process. Ie. yeast consumes sugar and produces alcohol. Of course, my assumption could be wrong.

Why do they mess up simple calculations so often in these news items? The conversion to $ should be in billions, not millions.
