loong replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
In January, it was announced that local authorities should take action against excessive noise levels from entertainment venues. As per usual, completely ignored! -
Thai government seeks to mandate graphic warnings on alcohol products
loong replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
in my experience, very few people drink beer from a bottle if you exclude foreigners. Most Thais buy large bottles which those "condoms" aren't available for. Most Thai bars, you cannot even buy small bottles. -

Move over elephant pants, “Capybara pants” are here!
loong replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I keep seeing this term "Soft Power" recently. To be honest, I have no idea what it means and had to look it up, but still not clear. I just cannot see how these pants can be defined as "soft power"! Can somebody please explain? -

If I remember correctly that requirement was introduced in Pattaya about 20 years ago. -
Thai workers invited to apply for high-paying oil rig jobs in Brunei
loong replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A bit over 50,000 Baht/month may sound good for a Thai, but it seems very low for an experienced worker on an oil rig and exploitation! -
If i was given a price and rejected it because I considered it too high, it would not even occur to me that the person may threaten my life. If you want to buy something in a shop and the assistant tries to overcharge you, will you meekly pay up in case the assistant attacks you with a knife?

British Teacher Who Allegedly Molested a Minor arrested in Thailand
loong replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
What is your point? Why mention that this is the 2nd Brit this month? Are you implying that all Brits are child molesters? You know that there are child molesters of all races and creeds, do you? There are black child molesters. Would you dare imply that all blacks are child molesters? -
Ubon Ratchathani teen negotiates fine with community service
loong replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Does that mean that she would have had to pay 500 Baht per night she spent in prison or that her fine would be reduced by 500 Baht per night? -

Visiting German leader commends Thai court on Pita’s shareholding case
loong replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The court should not be commended. They should be questioned why it has taken so long, why wasn't it immediately thrown out? It was well known and could be easily checked that ITV was no longer any sort of media company and had not been for many years. If I remember correctly, the shares are worthless and it is not even possible to sell them. -
It is strange that whenever something like this is reported the majority of posters assume that the person is guilty.

I remember around about 20 years ago, Pattaya police announced that they are illegal if used to carry passengers and any foreigner caught riding one with passengers will be prosecuted. Not locals, just foreigners! They should be registered but can only be registered to carry goods, not passengers in the sidecar.

can you understand today's actors mumbling on tv?
loong replied to Pouatchee's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I totally agree with the posters that have to use the subtitles. Many times I have given up trying to watch something if it doesn't have subtitles as i have no idea what is going on. Watching old movies or TV shows, I generally have no problem (except with some regional accents). This must be a common problem and you would think that the program makers were aware and actually do something about it. While they are at it, they could quit doing so many dark scenes. It is doubly infuriating when you can't see what is going on because the scene is so dark! -
Concerns after two foreign women sunbathe in Chiang Mai temple
loong replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
They were not half naked and they were not in the temple, they were lying in the grass outside. I have seen plenty of Thai women dressed similarly in temple grounds. They will put a wrap around if they enter the actual temple.
