I'm just here to read the angry comments from the retirees who also can't afford to retire in their own country but feel they have a god-given right to retire cheaply in Thailand and will complain like there's no tomorrow if they have to pay more than they did 10 years ago for something.

P.s. I've heard the Philippines is nice this time of year...

if your idea was a good one then fine, just remember there's a lot of competition in the food business in bkk. also, you'll need decent capital and good thai connections otherwise i'd say you're taking a serious risk with your capital. do more research, i suspect it's not as easy as you think

Taking a serious risk with his Life aswell, a young foreigner opening up a fast Food joint in BKK, unless he has very good Thai  connections this is a non starter, there are plenty of other countries to persue your venture, i would give this place a miss life is to short my Friend.

The word "pedantic" comes to mind. The immigration officials are generally bound by the rules and will usually err to the side of caution. I had a friend who broke his back and when it came time do do the perfunctory visa run, they showed NO mercy. He even had a Thai doctor write a letter saying this guy should NOT be moved. Immigration gave him a 7-day grace period but he still wound up having to do the visa run in extreme agony.

Like others have written, suck it up, save up for a year and come back a man wealthy in wallet and wisdom.

And hopefully he will have grown up a bit instead of behaving like a Bloody six year old !

The man is at best loathsome   and completely unsuitable to be a president

I am both amazed he was voted in  by sundry idiots  and even more so hes  not yet been assassinated.or at least dumped from office

If i was in UK i would certainly  protest he is not welcome  the sooner he understands the better

PS i am not Muslim, unemployed , pro brexit type nor a student,

The US State Department's protocol office must be agonizing over this one.  It sounds like a premise to a Monty Python sketch.  Maybe Donald will entertain everyone with stories about supervising his beauty pageants.

Maybe some Pussy Grabbin Stories, more Tea Vicar.  :giggle:

Good points. I wonder if there's anything in the cabin crew job description / cabin crew procedures about regularly walking around the cabin to watch for theft at the seat, from overhead bins etc?

On the other hand does anybody expect that Thai cabin crew would seriously follow this procedure (if it exists).

True, why do people carry so much cash money on flights and why is it in cabin bags in overhead lockers, not on their body?

Further, how come it's that easy for thieves to take the cash (or whatever) from bags in overhead lockers? I always put passport etc., in a zipped pocket which is fully inside of another zipped section of my bag. Not difficult, not a  total roadblock to professional thieves but it would take another half a minute or so to get to the document or whatever.

This is becoming a regular event, perhaps there is a need for all airlines to make an announcement (several times) immediately on arrival for passengers to retrieve their bags from the overhead bin and do a quick check if anything is missing while the passengers are waiting for the airbridge to be connected and the door opened?

British Airways Cabin Crew would probably of said to the Guy after he notified them of the Theft, (  So ! what do you want me to do about it ! )   ?

    Easy to deduce from the red shirts;

    NOK Air - Yellow shirts

    Thai Smile - Orange shirts

Bangkok Air is white  and they are not LCC

There are only two low cost airlines on the KBV route who have employees in red shirts. I can think of one LCC that has a trim on the sleeves like the  guys in the photo. I do not think it is Thai Air Asia. because their colour is a different red and no trim.   A google flights search will tell you the other airline.

    British Airways ?  :giggle:

You appear to be one of those who blame Man for the change in weather when, in reality, it's a natural thing.  There have been 5 major Ice Ages in Earth's history, and they all happened long before Man ever arrived.  It's a Natural thing.

    Thank you Mr. Drumph.

'Those breaking the law will be fined up to 10,000 baht and/or jailed for up to six months said Pol Col Krisana Pattanacharoen'

There is absolutely no correlation within the crime committed and the sentence you 'could' receive, I state 'could' as we all know in a corrupt third world there is often the option to bribe your way out of trouble but come on, six months for having a beer on a 'Buddhist' holiday!!!!

No expert but wasn't Buddha a kind of live and let live kind of a chap, does seem slightly skewed when you can beat the living <deleted> out of somebody and receive nothing more than a B500 fine and a slap on the wrist so long as you are Thai obviously, different set of rules again if you are one of those damned interfering foreigners......

This country is a joke, no wonder more and more Ex Pats are heading Home or to pastures new, can you imagine having to live here and being in an unhappy Thai Marriage aswell, those poor Sods of which there are many.

Did you not understand that busking is not begging even when staring at the definitions?

Well, if you take away the Bowl its Busking, if you place a Bowl in front of you for Donations its Begging, the fact there attempting to entertain badly by playing a musical Instrument is merely a cover for guess what, BEGGING !people get pulled up at Swampy all the time having to show 20,000 Baht before there even allowed Entry and these scrounging Vermin are openly breaking the Law and the Terms of their Visa.
