  1. I ate at Sun Dog Diner a week ago. The decor, setting and location are nice. The Milkshakes are good, as well as their unlimited refill of cokes in a jar. The Happy Days series running on a big flat screen makes it nostalgic. Now, the bad points! For someone who obviously spent a lot of money setting this place up, it is very disappointing to see that the food is in ridiculously small portions and not really good at all!! At 200 baht a Swiss cheeseburger(7-11 burgers are bigger and tastier and I hate 7-11 burgers) with about 6 french fries spread out(to make it look full) on a huge empty plate, who do you think you are fooling? It is aimed at Americans yet serves Kiddie menu portions. I can't remember what the price was for each item but it came to 1000 baht(+/-) for a plate of 5-6 teenie weemie bite size mozzarella sticks, the "hockey puck" size burger, chicken tenders, milkshake and a coke. I wouldn't mind if the food tasted good and the portions were normal, not Cambodia Polpot era portions. Absolutely shameful. I hope they quickly revise their menu, portions and chef. If not it will go under by Christmas! I would love to see it succeed because there is no place like it yet in Jomtien but the food should be the main reason for repeat customers not the icing on the cake. Until then get your burgers at hard rock, tequila reef, american rib company or anywhere but this place.

  2. It is always the people that have no experience that have the most to say! I have had over 10 dogs as personal pets and have trained over 30 for the Thai police and Navy, as well as Singaporean Army. Personally, I have had 2 Rotties but have trained all kinds of breeds from Alsatians to Turkish Anatolians. Rottweilers are lovely family oriented dogs with a drive. They are working dogs basically. If they are well socialised and given proper exercise, there are no problems. The problems arise, when the owners lock up their animals, mistreat them, entice aggression and use them as status symbol. Thus ignoring the bond and socialisation which must be established between owner(alpha) and the dog. I am not being an advocate for the Devil here but there is a lot of misinformation being fueled by ignorant people.

  3. There is a pet store that sells puppies in The Avenue on 2nd road opposite Soi Yamato. The store is on the ground floor to the left of Villa Supermarket.

  4. Lived there from '95-98. No seven-elevens/family mart, stale bread, newspapers came in late afternoon, dirt road through Chaweng and Lamai....lots of shabby little huts/bars/restaurants. It had its charm but it was inconvenient at times. I visited once in 2004 and didn't recognise the place. Most of the people I knew both thai and farang have moved on and left the island.

  5. ^^^Soundhouse is in Soi town in town which is the soi on the right....just before foodland as you are going west(towards the beach) just before foodland on Central Pattaya road.

In Bangkok, in the Pratunam area on New petchaburi road, where Pantip Plaza is(they have a few shops Pantip but nothing special) as you pass Pantip there will be one shop on the left after 200 meters. On the otherside of the road, there will be Lucky music shop..marshall, martin, prs dealership. In the back of Lucky, there is a courtyard/carpark with Second music...second hand gear...fenders, gibsons, amps, basses, pedals, acoustics...depending on when you go, there are some true gems in there...There is also the Fender, Gibson dealership in Central world Plaza on 3rd floor, Music Concept. On Paya Thai road (walkable distance from Lucky/Second....just keep going until the intersection and turn left towards Mahboonkrong-Siam discovery) Music Society, they have good gear as well...it is an open air complex of Japanese style restaurants and pubs..COCO Walk...its in there on the left. If you are willing to be adventurous, sit in traffic and lose a day...or if you are going to make some big purchases..go to Chinatown..kasem road..the street has all the major wholesalers...Boosey&Hawkes is good, bought a lot of gear there...Petch siam was good as well..they are all on the same street.

There are other places but I have not been....basically just avoid the shops in the big malls...apart from Music concept in Central Plaza( they give you 15-20% off on a +/- reasonable price) great service as well.

  6. I have to keep mine on all the time. If I turn it off, it won't start again....the fan gets louder and the monitor won't turn on. I took it to 4 technicians and they couldn't find the problem. So, its always on untill we get a power outage like today....and I have to crawl back to the laptop :)

  7. I have a Fender Bassman '59 (tweed) reissue for sale. It is in mint condition. Have hardly used it. I remember seeing A Laney halfstack in Suriya....tube amp but very expensive. Pm me for details.

  8. I am not talking about frankenstein jobs, they must have original engines( although the 2 jz is worthy!). They are very different cars but for those in the know which one is more reliable, less pricey to maintain, easier to find parts for, more enjoyable to drive? In Thailand of course. On a second note anyone know any good garages for both the Merc and Bmw in Bangkok/Chonburi area? :)
