  1. For Methodists maybe?

I'm maybe going off topic with this but the joking remark about pillows reminded me.

FYI, re byo pillows. . I went to look at a condo in Bangsaen for a friend coming over from England.

The lady at the reception agreed with the price as on the website, then added the water and electric charges, we all know about those so no problem.

Then she asked me if he will be bringing his own bedding.

When I queried this she told me if he brings his own bedding OK, if he needs bedding the charge will be an extra 1000Baht a month!

First time I've come across that and I've been looking at and booking him in condo's every year for the last eight years.

P.S. If you want to know the name of the condo it's called the United Place Bangsaen.

  2. Slightly off this particular topic but it is to do with traffic and running red lights.

How's about parking a tank at each set of lights and when a red light runner shoots through blasting them to Kingdom Come?

I know there might be a little collateral damage but put that down to friendly fire and give 500Baht compo per vehicle.

On the subject of vehicles that don't stop at ped crossings, buy your own personal stinger, when you want to cross throw it out and wait for the vehicles to come to a grinding halt then go across folding your stinger up as you do so ready for the next time you want to cross.

Hands up those that think both are worth a try.

  3. Good morning folks.

A couple of days ago I tried to get info about opening a bank account for a friend of mine that wants to retire here at the end of the year, they all asked me if he had a w/permit.

I told them all no, he's retired he will not be working he is coming here to live/retire and needs to be able to transfer money from England here.

Long story short, they all told me he cannot open an account unless he has a work permit.

(I'm in Bansaen, I'll go to Pattaya and ask there, more farang orientated I might get on better!)

  4. Good Morning Folks.

This is not just a Thai thing charging over the odds for electricity.

I lived many years in a seaside town in England, all the apartments had their own (landlords) coin meter fitted.

Plus the rent went up according to the season, usually at Easter until the end of Sept.

I'm not saying where I was but here's a clue, the slogan for the town was

    ******** Is So Bracing.

(which in winter equated to is b****y COLD!

    ;-)

  5. Litter on the beach, drinking on the beach, smoking on the beach, tourist doing nasty disgusting things with each other, drinking alcohol on the beach, tourist killing coral to name just a few things evil tourists do.....

    Easily rectified......

Build 20foot electrified fences round them, topped with razor wire, just in case the wily tourist has bought a pair of Marigolds and some Thai electrician/Cambodian builders flip flops.

Surround the fence with rabid soi dogs and those blokes in brown in none active posts and a few rampant Lady boys wielding stiletto's and

    Bobs Yer Uncle...

    Job done!!!!!

  6. Good Morning,

    advice needed please.

I've checked up on the ferry terminals both sides but I but I have a few questions.

    Pattaya.

    1) Is there dedicated transport to the terminal, or will we need to private hire a songtheow? (motorcy taxi's are not an option)

    2) Where would the best/easiest place be to p/hire a s/theow, where the Jomtien s/theows pick up on 2nd road outside the school?

    3) Approx price?

    Hua Hin side.

I've found out that it's approx 10K from the terminal. (according to google maps, hmmmmm)

    1) Is there a bus into HH, if so where does it drop off?

    2) Or will it be a taxi, meter or otherwise?

    3) If no meter approx price?

(when I ask the price, some say I'm tight, I tell them I'm not a tourist, I just don't like paying tourist silly prices! ;-) )

    Thank you in advance.

  7. A friend of mine also had this same problem at Sriracha Immigration about three weeks ago, his bank letter was dated the day before he went in to renew. He was told it was no good and he had to go to the bank and get a letter with that days date.

He had to go all the way back to Bangsaen, get another letter from his bank and take it back to Sriracha before they would process him.

He's been using Sriracha for the last eight years but still needed the letter with ''today's''  date on it, the day before was no good they said.

Two trips to and from Bangsaen, plus 100 baht for each letter from the bank.

He was not a happy bunny. (Nationality Withheld, he is not American or nor a Brit) ;-)

  8. Just to take this 30 day extension thread a little further if I may,

A friend of mine is coming over on a 90 day Non Imm O and has realised he's going to fall short because he miscalculated his flight by eight days, (how you ask, because he's thick, I told him so because he did the same thing last year but only by three days, he listened to his bar buddies that told him he'd only get a one day fine because they'd only charge him for the second day, first day free, and he would be airside before the third day, they knocked him for three days which cost him 1.500Baht fine plus he got an overstay stamp!).

But he did save 400baht! (he squeaks when he walks so changing his departure flight is a big no no) ;-)

I know he will have to go to immigration for an extension but my question is what will he need to take with him, apart from his passport, a photo and the 1.900Baht fee?

I've waded through many pages about what he'll need but there were so many conflicting ideas that I decided to ask you guys.

Moose Cider is pretty good, and does not contain any mooses!

I agree with you on that Mr wgdanson, it is pretty good but not as good as the Strongbow, I know this because my neighbour Am liked Moose but then I was daft enough to give her a bottle of Strongbow.. Her verdict, nam apen agrit aloi, nam apen Thai aloi nid noi.

What can I say apart from I slipped up badly giving her Strongbow.
