  1. hi all,

Really need some assistance on this case. We have a big condo in Chiang Mai that has issues with water getting into the condo via thw window area. We just had people come in and put silicone on the outsides of all windows but there is still a big problem.

I cant tell where the water is getting in, through the window itself or via some cracks under and above the window.

But this is a massive problem and I really need to get this fixed before the teak floor gets ruined any further.

Someone suggested sealant paint around the outside of the windows and on the concrete around that area. Other have said we need a metal flashing over the window and possibly under the window as well.

This building is also like 25 years old so that probably doesnt help. The last renovation of this condo was 13 years ago so the windows themselves arent new but it dont know how much that matters.

    Any advice appreciated.

     Thank you!

...so, what type of water pressure are you experiencing at the kitchen faucet, or other faucets (if any)?

If it worked for a week after installing the pump an replacing the tap then maybe, as has already been suggested, the faucet filter screens are being plugged by hard water deposits or other debris in the line.  What happens if you take the faucet screen filter off and open the tap?

Hmm I believe the pressure there is normal. ok it makes sense then. So basically I should take off the metal filter thing in the faucet?

Is this a new problem or an ongoing problem.

Have you checked for any blocked filters in the taps, the heater or  shower head?

tap is new. Replaced it when we installed the pump. Its been going on since the unit was bought, but nothing much was done about it at first as management wouldnt allow any pump installation before, but this time didnt say anything and even showed us where to do it.

  4. hi all,

Looking for some guidance. I intend to get a plumber to help me with this but Id like to advice on what needs to be done so I know if the plumber is legit or not.

Anyway we have quite low water pressure coming to the bathroom. Faucet and shower. Shower is a bit better but faucet is terrible.

Its a 7th floor unit and we even installed a pump from the main pipe into the water meter, which helped for a couple of weeks but then got really bad again.

What needs to be done here to fix this problem once and for all? Its an older 20 years+ building up here in Chiang Mai.

We've spent 10k baht on installing pump and some other stuff and now back to square 1.

    Please advise!

    Thank you in advance!

  5. Hey all,

Living in CM, Im considering relocating to BKK. However I would be travelling to CNX every week for a few days, which is why Im considering living closer to the airport.

Can anyone tell me what it would be like to live in Chatuchak area? It seems to look good. Theres a huge park, the market itself, seems like there are malls around there and the price for rentals seems quite low compared to if you were closer to Sukhumvit? BTS access seems fine too depending on where you find a rental. Its also close to Don Muang airport, which would make for less travel time.

Does anyone have experience living there and could you tell me if theres enough amenities like decent cafes and restaurants in the area?

How about travel time to downtown via MRT/BTS? How long does that take? Thanks

    Thanks

  6. hey there,

Currently living in CM, but bored after being here for 5 years. Just wondering while Im looking at condos, how busy is Phuket immigration? CNX immigration is a nightmare and the way they handle applications is extremely wasteful time-wise.

Also wondering if there are any language schools in Phuket so I can start a new ED visa.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

  7. Let all foreign nationals purchase firearms. This country would be a much better place. As it stands these criminals know that foreigner can not easily poses guns. So let them buy them freely. Good for the economy and takes the criminals edge away. This is the only way to curb the current trend. The only way......

One hopes you are not in charge of anything. And I mean anything at all.

555 I dunno why your comment had me in tears cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

  8. I heard that Rimping delivers cooked Turkeys for christmas. However after calling them just now, they are booked for today and tomorrow.

Anyone know any other places where you can order a cooked turkey or something smiliar for delivery in Chiang Mai?

If not, does anyone know wheres a good place to buy a portable oven to cook roasts etc.

    Thanks

  9. Hey all,

I've noticed a lot of small restaurants that sell cakes usually have the same kind of cakes. Cheesecakes etc.

Anyone know what bakery most of these places are ordering from?

I like Dukes cakes also. Does anyone know if they make their own cakes or order from somewhere? A friend of mine is opening a small coffee shop and would like to be able to order high quality cakes to sell in the shop.

    Thanks a lot.

  10. If you like the european lifestyle of cafes and nice restaurants, Nimman is your area of choice. Also lots of nightlife spots with young thai girls there.

If you wanna spend more time in girlie bars, then the east side of the moat is great. Restaurant choices in that area are also nice but I would say Nimman restaurants and hangout spots are slighty superior.

I used to live at Chiang Mai gate, which was also great. Area isnt that nice but its fast access to both the east side of town and Nimman.

  11. Thanks a lot for the encouraging post paz.

What is bringing me through this with some positivity is the fact that my girlfriend and her family have taken good care of me. The selflessness of thai people doesnt cease to amaze me. Im sure if I was stuck in the west with no immediate family, it would be a miserable experience.

My plan is to work a lot from home and make as much money as possible so I can take a long vacation(Maldives comes to mind) and spoil my girlfriend as much as I can when this is over :P

Ill keep updating this thread so it can help others as much as possible in the future.

So far the plan is to just re-lengthen the femur, which Im hoping can happen without too many complications. The doctor told me the other day that after the frame is taken off, they will put a cast on my leg, which I will need to wear for a month as there is a risk of refracture if a cast is not used.

  12. hey all.

    Just an update.

I ended up staying in Chiang Mai and getting treated by Dr. Yuddhasert at Sripat Hospital, who was recommended to me by Dr. Anupong Loahapoonrungsri (specialist in Orthopedic Trauma).

Dr. Yuddhasert has done over a 100 operations using the Ilizarov method and was certain he would be able to make sure my femur would finally heal and also take care of the issue of having a shorter leg than the other.

Surgery was done about two weeks ago and I remained at the hospital for another week before being discharged. The bill was 300k baht.

During surgery they removed all the infected area on the femur basically cutting it out and also made a cut lower down on the femur so the middle part is movable and will be needed to lengthen the femur back to normal length.

They took out about 7cm, which the doctor says would take about 10.5 months before they would take off the Ilizarov frame. Basically Im using a spanner lengthening the femur 1mm per day untill the desired length has been reached and thereafter there is a consolidation period where the femur solidifies. After the Frame is taken off, Ill have to wear a cast for a month.

Here are some pics and here's hoping the next year goes by fast as Ive already had 1.5 years of dragging around a broken leg tongue.png
