I am not required to sit a test to renew my car/motorcycle licences. I do the reaction and vision tests, watch a video in english on the computer at the DLT and get issued my new licenses.

That's the way I did my renewals in the past also, but now it's different with the online reservation and testing systems. It's probably best to do as much as you can online to save time when you do your next renewal. The website to book a reservation to visit the office is: https://www.dlt.go.th/en .

The website to do the testing is: https://www.dltelearning.com . I would suggest visiting these websites before renewing your license next time. Thanks very much for your reply.

I renewed my auto license last year, motorcycle this year.  After registering I watched the video in English.  The problem was that the "instructional" video is in segments.
Each segment goes by quickly with only one mention of some rules then a test - sometimes with questions not covered in that segment.  I also got the exact same question after two segments.  I passed and got a QR code but they didn't tell me my score.

Hint:  If you fail don't worry, just keep trying until you learn the rules and pass.

At the DLT office I did have to do the eye test and the brake test but I think the distance alignment test wasn't working because I didn't have to do it.  If you have never done these tests then try to get toward the back of the line so you can watch others do the tests to see how they are done.

Thanks for the information and for your advice. I got my first motorcycle license in 2004, so I've been through the renewal process more than once. This is the first time, however, that I've had to do anything online. In the past, I just showed up early with the necessary documents and waited all day until I got my new license. I don't remember now which tests were conducted. Once I get through the online testing, I expect the rest will be relatively simple, especially since I've already booked an appointment for 1:30 in the afternoon. If it takes all afternoon, so be it. This process takes place only once every five years, so I can and will endure. Thanks again for taking the time to reply to my post.

When I watched this eLearning, there were subtitles for the parts spoken in Thai.

Did you enter the website through the "Foreigner" option and register with your passport number?

I don't remember the exact steps.

I was able to register as a foreigner without any complications at the website mentioned above, the one without the hyphen. It wasn't until I checked the third video of the three for motorcycle licenses that I found the English subtitles. So it should be no problem completing the renewal process from here. Thanks very much for your reply.

I just successfully renewed my license yesterday. I had the same problem with the website, but someone suggested I use www.dltelearning.com (no hyphen) instead which shows the video (with subtitles) and questions in English. You have to register first by choosing the Foreigner option.

I got a QR code which I had to print out and take to the DLT. To be honest I don't think they even looked at it. Anyway it worked for me at the Pattaya office.

I was able to find the video with the English subtitles. It was the third of the three videos for the motorcycle license. I had only tried the first one last night, assuming the other two were the same. Thanks very much for your invaluable assistance. It will make getting the new license much easier than it would have been otherwise. Extremely gratifying to know that as Thai Visa members we are available to help each other out if we can. As I said in my post, the voice of experience is always the wisest.

  5. My Thai motorcycle driving license expired last November. My Thai friend advised me to reserve a time slot to visit the Department of Land Transportation here in Chiang Mai to renew my license. I was able to register and book a time on the DLT webpage as a foreigner using English without complications. The next step is to listen to a one-hour instructional video and then take a test based on the information presented in the video. Unfortunately, this was the complicated part. The problem is that the presenter in the video is speaking Thai. An exhaustive search could produce no English language video. The questions that followed the video were in English, so no problem there. But I can't answer the questions without watching the video, and I can't watch the video if it's not in English. Has anyone else experienced this problem while trying to renew a motorcycle driving license? The voice of experience is always the wisest. Any advice as to how I can solve my problem or information about the driving license renewal process would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much in advance.

In my opinion, this is a step in the right direction.

Foreigners living in Thailand can still use PayPal to send money.

They will not be able to receive money.

If you want to receive money, probably you are doing some business. You are supposed to pay the tax in Thailand.

Register your business in Thailand, pay the tax every year.

Then you can use PayPal to receive money.

PayPal is using this approach in many countries, not only Thailand.

What a completely idiotic post. I receive money into my PayPal account so that I can pay for goods and services that I need to pay for using PayPal. I don't have a business, in Thailand or anywhere else. How can someone only pay out of their account if they never receive any funds into their account to replenish it? Is PayPal a bottomless well that provides us with free money? I don't think so. If you pay out funds, but don't transfer any in, then your account will at some point be at zero. If so, how can you continue to pay out of it? I'd like to suggest that next time you might try thinking a little bit before submitting a ludicrous and ridiculous post like this one.

  7. Where my companion buys them, they are available in any desired quantity. Fifty leaves cooked to perfection (by her) seems to have the desired effect, without exception. Some people would doubtless require more or fewer leaves, as individual tastes differ greatly.

Is Thailand the only nation that cuts a murder sentence in half, due to a confession of guilt? And what does this say about the culture and the judicial system? He deserved death.

Didn't you read the original article? It clearly stated that EU countries will not extradite someone to be tried in a country where he or she might face the death penalty. The Thai authorities had to pledge that they would not seek the death penalty or he would not have been extradited at all. I agree that he deserves to be executed, but it's a moot point in that it has never been and will never be a possibility in this case. Eight years imprisonment is better than no punishment at all.

Very sorry, but significant time constraints preclude me from listing examples with any degree of specificity. Assuming you are a long-time ex-pat, as I am, you can doubtless think of numerous possible responses to your query if sufficient contemplation and cogitation are devoted to the endeavour. Thanks very much for your reply.

I got some from Lazada, dried the leaves, made a tea with 3 leaves for one cup of tea. Everyone says how bad it tastes, I don't find it bad at all, but do notice a numbing sensation of my tongue. I don't feel any type of "buzz" or high, however I do feel a little more energized. Does anyone feel a high from it?

You don't really feel a buzz or high from it. It's more like a very relaxed and mellow sensation, which is typical of all opioids, a class of chemicals that includes kratom. You might get a more powerful response if you tried a more potent brew. Your recipe is a bit weak. I used 50 leaves, which produced two 1.5 litre bottles of kratom that was pretty strong stuff.

That just about sums up nearly everything that is constructed or installed here :+)

Actually, that just about sums up nearly everything in existence here in Thailand, except, of course, the various orifices of the women and the ladyboys. Those orifices are extremely well maintained and always working splendidly, albeit at an exorbitant cost.

Cheers mate and Good day to you and your acquaintance

BTW, does your acquaintance prefer the

old predator or the new predator, the quick finisher or the slow finisher?

All my acquaintances definitely prefer the new predator and his newfound penchant for finishing very slowly, as do I. In this regard, the Kratom is absolutely a Godsend, or Buddhasend, if you prefer. The only problem is that there is a bit of a hangover the next morning, not dissimilar to the effect of imbibing too much alcohol. You feel fatigued and lethargic, with an upset stomach and headache. The same remedies that help with the alcohol variety also help with the Kratom hangover. After a given amount of time you're back to your old self again, ready for another ecstatic encounter with a lovely young Thai lady.

Dude, your reply to my 'sample size' comment is awesome, you say a lot but are saying very little, meaning nothing.

What's in that kratom cocktail, more than just kratom. You got some ganja going on there.

Tell me more about your kratom cocktail, how do you get the leaf to a liquid, what's your recipe?

I totally misinterpreted your "sample size" comment. I thought you meant the sample size of only one female acquaintance, hence my reply. I now understand that you meant the sample size of the Kratom. Perhaps if you'd said "the sample size of Kratom was too small," the confusion could have been avoided. A little specificity in this case would have gone a long way.

As I stated in a later post, the sample size was sufficient to achieve the desired result, yet not so big that the desired result became impossible. Therefore, the sample size was spot on.

As for your question about my Kratom recipe, the Kratom I drink is made by one of my female acquaintances. She boils approximately 50 Kratom leaves until they create a dark brown liquid. She then strains this liquid into another pot to let it cool. After cooling she fills two 1.5 litre plastic water bottles with the pungent, brown liquid. So you turn leaves into liquid by putting them in water and boiling them. There is no ganja or any other ingredient mixed with the Kratom. It is only Kratom. I hope that this answers your question.

you mean that it stop you from releasing too quickly ?

is it a famous effect ?

Yes, that is what I mean. That it stops you from releasing too quickly. My guess is that it is not a well known effect of Kratom itself, but it is certainly a well known effect of opioids in general. The problem is that if you use too much of an opioid it prevents you from achieving an erection. In that case finishing too fast won't be a problem because you won't be able to have intercourse in the first place. The key to using opioids is to use enough to delay ejaculation without using too much to cause erectile dysfunction. It is a very fine line, so you have to experiment to find out just how much of the opioid, including Kratom, is effective for you.

  16. 37 minutes ago, thaicookingchef said:

do you know the recipe to mix it with cough syrup ?

At one time, many years ago, cough syrup contained codeine, which is also an opioid. As such it was highly addictive and subject to abuse. For these reasons codeine was replaced by dextromethorphan, which is not addictive and has no psychotropic effects. You could drink a gallon of today's cough syrup and not get any opioid effect. I suspect, however, that you would puke your guts out all over the bathroom.

My suggestion is to forget about the cough syrup and instead focus on finding the right amount of Kratom to achieve the effect that you desire, whatever that may be.

    Poor research

Sample size is too small, need more research

I should help with the research, give the members more proof

    Where are you located?

I should engaged with your female Thai acquaintance in this activity and give a detailed report.

To answer your questions: The sample actually included more than one encounter with more than one acquaintance. Still small but big enough to show a real difference between encounters with Kratom versus those without.

I am located in the beautiful and aptly named "Land of Smiles." Greater specificity will not be forthcoming at this time.

Thai acquaintances such as mine can be readily and easily acquired in the aforementioned "Land of Smiles." They can be purchased for long time use over years or even decades, or they can be rented by the hour. The possibilities are virtually limitless. If you are in Bangkok, I would have suggested starting at NaNa Plaza, Sukhumvit Soi 4 or Soi Cowboy, between Sois 21 and 23, also known as Soi Asoke. In the age of COVID-19, however, I don't know what is available in these two venerable locations. In any event, be resourceful, and, to quote the Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime you'll find you get what you need."

  18. I learned by accident that Kratom has an unexpected and much appreciated side benefit. Approximately an hour after drinking roughly half a large glass of Kratom, I engaged one of my female Thai acquaintances in activity of a decidedly amorous nature. Much to my surprise and delight, I found that the time until our coupling drew to a close was prolonged well beyond normal parameters. Research into the characteristics of Kratom revealed that it is an opioid, which are well known to delay the completion of acts of physical intimacy. For those who may suffer from a problem with these acts reaching their conclusion too quickly, Kratom might provide a safe (if not overindulged in), easily administered, and now legal remedy.

Today I made my extension in CNX. I had no problem the last 9 year. First I passed the guard and got number 3024 (no. 24) I was huddled in a tent. After 30 minutes, the young people had checked that I had the right documents . After that, I left the tent and met the officer. He checked the papers. "You have not copy the first page of the passport" -he said. "Well, that page is on page no. 2 in the Income Letter". I answered super nice (in Thai). "Not enough he ansvered me". "But last year you wanted me to take away that page, because you told me to much paper". I replied supernice (in thai). "Ok this time we skip it", he said...with an officer's voice....Many Chinese trampled around but after 40 minutes all clear and really super fast service. I am impressed.
One question. My friend makes 0 extension on Friday for the first time. Is his TM 6 enough for to show adress certificate??? He has 49% ownership of the house and his wife 51% if I understood correctly. And he arrived with O spoused 90 days - but wants to apply for an extension retirement.

Thanks for your detailed reply. Good to know that I can look forward to super fast service at Chiang Mai Immigration, which is certainly different than in the past. The TM 6 is the Arrival/Departure card. It only shows the most recent date that someone entered Thailand. An address certificate would be what's called a Certificate of Residence, which is TM 16. To get it your friend must go upstairs at the Immigration office (to either the second or third floor; I can't remember.) The cost last time I got a certificate was 500 baht. It may be more than that now.

Was in there today getting 1 yr extension (marriage), I didn't realise what that tent was for, so just went up to the counter inside and handed over documents and was given the last TF ticket of the day. Maybe having two active kids in tow helped.

Was busier than last year at same time. Arrived at 1.30pm and out at 4pm.

I supplied copies of last 90 day report (they kept it), last TM30 (they kept it), TM7, updated bank passbook/letter from bank AND printout from bank which I got this morning. I did a small bank transfer this morning but it didn't show on my updated bank book OR the statement I got from the bank today after I had done the transfer, which I didn't notice and don't know why, so had to walk down to Bank in Airport Central to update book again!

Also, give them the original of the bank letters and statements. The bank gave me one original and two copies, I gave them the two copies (didn't even realise, the only difference is the small blue stamp on them) had to go to car and get the original.

The lady mentioned quite specificially do not copy 2 pages of passport onto one page and don't give them copy of whole passport! I supplied WHOLE passport BUT only, photo/details page, last expired visa page, last extension page and copy of last TM6 slip are required.

Apart from the above, same as last year.

Thanks for your detailed reply. I had forgotten that copies of only the relevant pages of the passport are required. I was going to copy them all until I read your post. That saves me and the Immigration officer a bit of a hassle.

I extended my permission of stay 3 weeks ago. Painless process. First, on the parking lot, in front of the main car entrance, they'll check your temperature, give you a little sticker that you'll stick to your clothes, and give you a waiting number. With that number, you'll go under the temporary tent, on the left of the parking, and sit while waiting to be called. Your documents will be checked there. There can be a long wait. For my extension, I had to wait about one hour as there was only one person on duty. Once checked and validated, you'll get a big cardboard number and you can enter the main building. Report to the information counters, submit your documents once again, and you'll get another queuing number. That's it. Same documents as before.

Thanks very much for your highly informative reply. That answers my question completely.
