Hi All,
Our maid Khun Toy is looking for part time job on weekends. Preferably in Naklua area.
She is 37 years old, hard working, polite, understanding and speaks good English (many years experience in restaurants).
She can do house cleaning, baby sitting and massage (in high season, she works in massage shops too).
Normally, her price is 100 Baht/hour. But for house/apt cleaning, better set the price after checking the size/job content etc.
If you have such need, pls contact her directly via mobile: 08-7608 9115
PS: If she doesn't answer the phone right away, then she must be busy in work. And she will surely call you back after work finishes.
Thanks and Happy Snake Year 2013!!

Maybe you can try PK cleaning co.
We have been using it until now. 500 Baht for half a day cleaning. If you pay 12 times in advance then you get 10% discount.
http://www.pkcleanservice.com/default.asp
PS: After the baby is born, you/yr wife will get very very busy. Suggest you hire a full time maid. Cost is from 8K to 12K, depending on the size of your house and work load etc

We've bought the small green box from Foodland today. Many recommend it because it can also kill the ants back in the nest (hope it can kill the ant queen also !!!!)
And bought chalk, rubber band and plastic boxes for the cot legs .
Above are for the short term. If these not work well, then have to call professional companies to destroy those little devils.
Below things can also prevent ants (I've got it from internet):
Garlic, lemon, rubber, baked egg shell (I think it contains borax), borax
In my country, borax can be found in any TCM shop. It is an ingredient for traditional chinese medicine and very cheap. Maybe BKK also has TCM shops that sell borax?
Indeed, compared to all other poison, borax should be the safest weapon against those devils.

Thanks all for your useful information!!
An ant massacre will soon go on at my home
Wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year in 2013 !!!

Any one has experience ?
My baby (2 month old) always sleeps long hours at night. But last night, she burst into loud crying every hour. Only in this morning, I realised why: there are several ants in her bed!!!! She scratched her face badly and some ants were crawling on her body
The bed sheet/mat were just washed yesterday. And our apt is on 43th floor, very clean and tidy. Normally, ants only exist in our kitchen area, but now, they go to the bedroom!!!
Is there any natural way to kill ants? Or, I have to use pest spray (hope it will not harm baby) ?
In the past, I did not want to kill the ants because they don't bother me much.. But now, seems I have to start killing!!!
Thanks a lot in advance

I prefer helping the orphans, handicapped, those suffering from natural disasters etc than helping those who have arms/legs and can make a living by themselves.
Should Bill Gates tip us for sympathy ?! The financial gap between him and us is much bigger than the gap between us and the service workers here .....
-
Some tippers keep insulting non-tippers CC. Is this also "democracy", eh?
Some tippers insist non-tippers are exploiting the service workers and cause them poverty...Hmmm, this noble logic reminds me of the communism in my country, ha ha
Yes, this post is getting a bit boring now. Some argue not with facts, but with fantasy and calling others bad names...
Anyway, it does not bother me at all
-
In Japan there isn't and you aren't. Best service in the world, too, far as I know.
In Japan, leaving a tip can be an insult--so, you think I am incapable of my work? You need to "bribe" me for the work that I'm supposed to do?
... Sure the massage is expensive in Japan, because the price level is higher there.
Yes, the massage price is cheap in Thailand. But also the price for food, labor, schooling, clothes, accommodation etc.
Better calculate the percentage of the price to the income, then have a better view.

The poor in Africa don't have the basic guarantee for life and it's hard for them to survive and make a living.
The "poor" in Thailand, at least have food, shelter , some schooling, a motorbike, a cell phone and a job (otherwise, you won't be able to know them at all). Better life comes from strive and effort. Tipping will not change one's life or one nation's economy fundamentally. But donation can bring much bigger changes to others (who are really in need)' life: food, education, infrastructure, etc
Thailand is a blessed land. It was not "blood washed" and destroyed in the War (I think you know why) like other Asian countries. If its government keep doing efforts, there could bring big improvements.
Some people try hard to make others feel guilty if they don't tip here. That is why I'm writing here.

Many Farangs have sort of pity feeling towards the massage ladies, which I think is quite unnecessary and odd. Sure the ladies are not well off and in the eyes of westerners, they can be classified as "poor". But in thailand, due to the religion reason, most of the people are happy and calm. You are richer than them, but dare you say you are much happier than them? Material standards are weak in front of mental things.
In Thailand, land is fertile, climate is good, I seldom see somebody who is really having a miserable life. If you go to some African countries, and see those malnutrition faces and skinny bodies, then you know what is "poverty". Thailand has various kinds of charity organisations and they care for the people in need. Earning a small income doesn't mean the need of sympathy. Sometimes, sympathy is humiliating.
I often go to a 200 baht massage shop near my condo. I don't talk with them during massage and don't give tip either. Just pay the price and say "Thank You" and leave. They are always polite and never show a snobbish look. If I have to give a tip to get good service , then I won't go there anymore. Because it will remind me that in some countries, when you pass immigration desk, you have to give the police some tips so he won't find fault with you.....
The street food stall owners also work very hard and only charge 30 for noodle/rice. And the construction workers, etc etc. Why Farangs don't tip them?!?!
Tip is like a gift. Will you be happy if you receive a gift? Yes; Will you be annoyed if you don't get one? No.
In Thailand, I only tip if I go to some high end westernised places. Not because I want to help the employee, but because of the etiquette. No need to argue, thailand is not a tipping country like those old European countries.

Asiacat:
Obviously you are an idiot cat
If you can't provide necessary info, better save your energy for barking.
Many people are reading this forum, better brush your teeth before stink here with your big mouth and small brain.
Seems you have some hatred towards something. Pathetic! No need to bite around just because of your dark experience or something.
In the motor rental shop here, no license is required (who's fault ?!?!?!?!); and most of the travellers who rent motors do have good skill of riding or driving in their own countries.
And most of the local traffic accident victims have license but they don't give a dam_n to the traffic rules!
Take back your arrogance and open your eyes, you silly cat

Any one can give me some info from own experience ?
Or, is there even some "easy" way ? (You know what I mean, ho ho )
It seems more difficult to ride motorbike without license these days.... Police check so often
PS: I have a domestic automobile driving license. So it is not valid for motorbike.

Today I met some mama who also use BPH for delivery.
One had c-cession 1 year ago, and paid 50K. She did not use insurance.
The other will have the natural birth in this month end. She uses insurance and the quote for her is 80K.
PS: Before I asked for cost estimation, I had already contacted my insurance company and they confirmed all necessary medical cost will be covered. Thus I started the following steps....
-
It is indeed shocking that there is such a big price gap.... As this was our first born, we fully trusted BPH and did not give any doubt about anything with BPH.
Now I've joined a mama group in pattaya, I will try to find out more. Quite some non-thai mamas did delivery in BPH.
Really odd, hmmmm

I just had my baby delivered last month in BPH. Here is some info:
1. In the last month before delivery, we were sent to a dept (maybe the Finance dept, can't remember clearly now) for price estimation. The lady told me, for a standardC-session delivery is 130K Baht (with 4 days 3 nights stay in hospital)
2. Then, we went to the International Service Dept, asking the staff to contact our insurance company for a direct cost settlement between them. (During my stay in hospital, my hub sent there again for reconfirmation and he was told everything was OK)
3. Our baby was born 2 weeks earlier due to emergency situation. And I stayed in hospital for 7 days and 7 nights because I requested to stay longer.
4. My ward was on 12 F of building E (guess is the new building?). Nice room with good view and good service. I wish I could stay there longer!
5. When I checked out, I was led to another dept and sign on the invoices. The total amount is 170K. I did not check for the details on invoices, because anyway insurance company will fully pay.
.... Yes, I also know one horrible story there. Once one supervisor of my hub had serious accident. BPH refused to do operation on him because his Thai insurance could not cover the full operation cost. So the company had to do guarantee etc.
Later when he wanted to be transferred to another hospital, BPH did not allow him to leave until company solved the inpatient cost which was higher than expected.
So, always good to do preparation early in advance ... Good Luck!

The apt we bought were co-owned by a Thai lady and Farang. And the Thai lady negotiated with the agent for details. Am not sure if Thais can get more favourable terms. Just guess.
PS: The agent is called "Power Waves Estate" in Soi 5 of Beach Rd. The agent lady's name is Nan.
-
maybe you can try more agents.
When we bought our condo 2 years ago in North Pattaya, the commission fee was 1.5% or even less (can't remember very precisely), and paid by the seller. And they say, the higher the total amount, the lower the commission percentage.

1. Among my Thai friends, some tip, some don't. The tipping ones will not call the not tipping ones "Cheap Charlie". They respect others' choice.
2. Some "Farangs" tip so they look down upon those don't. I don't know from where they get this false superior feeling. Funny and silly.
3. "Meatballs" is asking "Am I a cheap charlie if I don't tip". My answer is "No". He used the service and paid what they charged. So, what did he do wrong?!?!?!?! If he goes there frequently, he is already supporting their business. He has nothing to be blamed.
4. Yes, you give tip and you feel yourself a glorious "savior" . Those don't tip also have their own ways of helping others, like charity, donations, etc. Do not think you are the only good guy ! After all, how much do you know about other people ?!?!?! Can not compare.
5. Yes, you live in Thailand for long time and maybe you know better. But again, all your detailed description is just your one side assumption. Must every customer be obliged to know how much the worker earn and her family details when he goes to use the service?!?!?! Sorry, not every one has so much energy to dig!
6. And don't misunderstand: I'm not against tipping, but against those who try to impose their values on others and call bad names.

just my personal opinion:
1.Every employee has the responsibility of giving high work performance. No matter you are a CEO or a service trade worker. No matter you get tips or not. If you are not happy with the income, then change a job. Customers don't owe you anything.
2. There are also many countries that don't have the tip habit. So, live and let live. Nothing to do with cheap charlie or blah la la.
3. Customers go massage for relaxing. If they have to wonder tip or not tip, how much etc, it is already annoying. Profit, wage, employee welfare, etc.. these are the factors that the business owner should consider when setting up prices, not the customers. Do not mess up different concepts.
4. Tips is a plus, not a must. If they reduce service quality because of no tip, then, change another shop, simple.
My hub gives tip and I don't because we are from different countries. Recently, I start to give tips when they give help for our newborn BB. But again, I wonder, isn't helping others a good and natural thing ? Will you refuse to help others if they don't tip you, eh??

Several times already, I see police stopping motorbike riders by road side.
This morning about 11AM on beach road, I was also stopped by the police. But when he noticed my big pregnant belly, he smiled and let me go
Are they checking motorbike driving license? If they find you don't have one, what will happen? How much is the penalty?

@John79: thanks so much for your info !
.....It is a pity that I can't do needle anymore now..... My baby will soon report to this lousy world in 3 weeks
Maybe you can try this acupuncture clinic in Pattaya:

Hello...susan
Yes. you must have Chinese medicine license issued by the Ministry of Health in thailand. The license examination currently applies once a year and uses Thai language. You must have your own country license in the field of Chinese Medicine and live in thailand more than three years ( for this criteria you passed i think) . good luck.
Ha, that seems mission impossible ! I can't read and write Thai and have stayed here just a bit longer than 1 year now (why it already seems 10 years to me, gasping...... )

I really need a maid also, the last one started off great then eventually didnt want to do a thing, watching the TV, eating etc hardly doing any work. The wife is fed up and I would really prefer to pay for a maid rather than hear her moaning about what needs to be cleaned. If you find a good company please let me know.
Hey!
I've been using PK cleaning company maid for 2 times till now and feel quite happy. Now she also cleans for my neighbour's condo.
Our apt is 105 SM and she cleans about 3.5 hours each time (once a week). PK quotes the price 500 baht for half a day. And I've paid 12 times ahead so I get a 10% discount. My neighbour's condo is half the size of mine, but same price 500 Baht as this is a time based price.
You can call Khun Aey 08 6314 5183 for details (or the office phone 0 3833 3233)
Tell them Susan of North Point recommends PK to you and if possible, can they also arrange the same maid to your condo. They told me she is a very good cleaner and indeed she is! The only problem is she can't speak English but I guess this is no problem for you !!
Good Luck

I use PK Cleaning Service (Pattaya) Co. Ltd. since 1 year, and their services are ok. I pay 675 Baht (prepaid for 12 times) for a maid for 1 day, one time a week. Acutally, she usually arrives around 8.30 h am and leaves 15.30 h, with 1 hour lunch time. She works slow, but ok, and I know that's almost impossible to find better ones.
What I like is the fact that I can deal with a reliable company, which can change or replace maids if demanded.
Thanks a lot! Found the website already !
Our first excellent maid also worked slowly, and I like that way. Much better than those rushing the time and leaving the furniture uncleaned or clumsily bumped.

In massage shop, she does massage for various kinds of customers. I've just talked with her, think should be no problem, unless your muscle is very big, hard and tough ....
