  1. BTW, have you been to Shanghai restaurant recently on 3rd road?

I think their cooking has improved on their non-dumpling dishes in recent months, like for example their spicy eggplant claypot. Also recently they added an entirely new menu ... mostly looking Sechuan ... but they don't seem to do Sechuan peppers.

Most people there seem to order mostly noodles and dumplings, but like I said, the rest of their menu really deserves trying.

Not in recent half a year. Sure, will try it soon !!!

  2. Can you give me some idea of the prices?

For the pic of fried rice, bean and pork, I paid 260 Baht, all S size. Others I can't remember clearly.

Normal dish is between 90 to 150 baht, S size.

S size for me alone is big enough :))))

  3. Thanks for that.

    Great find. clap2.gif

The dish pictured to the left of the beans stir fry, what is that? It looks like braised pork belly, yes?

The cold chicken dish looks like it has a ginger scallion sauce (something easy to make at home for those interested).

Yes, that is the braised pork belly. But most of the westerners won't like it much :)))))))

The sauce on chicken is made of ginger/garlic/scallion stir fried in oil. It looks simple but tastes so amazing. I ate up all the sauce !

  4. Looks good, I might try this tonight.

Yesterday, I suggested the boss to prepare some small salt bottles on table.

    Salt=盐=Yan

That chicken dish is typical Shanghai style, me and mom love it very much. But some people maybe prefer it tastes salter.

Hub likes the spicy stir fried bean a lot, as most westerners do :))))

  5. For those who might be interested....

This one is just open for a few weeks. Yun Nan/Si Chuan style Chinese food--sorry, no north food like Peking Duck and Jiao Zi!!!

I've tried several dishes and I love them. Price is reasonable. Staff are humble. Menu in multiple languages, and in S, M, L portions.

The air-con will be ready in a few days, but you can drink ice water for cooling. And they are ordering new chairs. My husband sat broken one chair yesterday. He is not heavy, but the plastic chair is risky if you move too much on it. So for the moment, they put every 2 chairs together to make it firmer :)))

They have both spicy and non spicy dishes. I like it more than the one on Soi 53 Sukhumvit road.

Very easy to find. It locates at the Sukhumvit end of soi Phortisan, on the corner of the side-soi leading to BPH, .

    Cheers

    Susan

  6. Yes, till Dec 2015, did the same time when my hub renewed his working permit, in Rayong

So, did you also do the theory test and driving test there ?

    Thanks a lot !

As I said, only reaction/colour tests. No theory or driving test since you already passed that threshold when you got the first 1-year.

Don't forget to photocopy everything, including your expiring licence, both sides. They do a document check anyway upstairs. Copy shop outside across the road from the Banglamung DLT.

Oh, I still have one more question:

If I arrive at the DLT at 2PM, do you think I can finish all the procedure and get my new motorbike drying license within the same day?

Because as of my baby, it would be better if I can leave in the afternoon.

  7. Hello !

My motorbike driving license (valid for 1 year) will expire on Feb 15. For the renewal application:

    1. Must I get health certificate ?

    2. Do I need to do those physical tests (eye, reaction, etc) and also the motor bike riding test and theory test again?

Mr. Admin, please don't delete my post. I'm asking these to estimate how long time will I need there, as I have a baby to look after at home (las time, it took me a whole day!!!). I know there are similar posts in this Forum. But all of them have many pages and my eyes really hurt so much.

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Susan

  8. Weekend is soon over. Another terribly busy week ahead. I won't have time to read and "defend" here......

Before I leave this post, I would like to say to some of the guys who posted nasty about China: you can think and talk whatever you like, but please don't pretend you "know " about China. It's painful to act, even more painful to watch.

Wish you all a nice week ahead

  9. Reply to THAKKAR. No defence, i don't feel i need to defend myself against the PC mob, attack yes. My vitriol, as you describe it, wasn't directed against the Chinese but against the ultra-liberal people like yourself which is turning parts of my country into something like a suburb of Bangladesh.

A good friend of mine (Chinese) who i met in the design department of a firm in Germany where i once worked invited me to his home in China. I stayed 3 weeks ( i fancied his sister like mad) It was OK (they were/are Hi-So's ) What i disliked was having to wipe of/brush of the dried phlegm from my trouser bottoms and shoes every evening, i was always scared of getting TB.

The Chinese don't need defending, they feel themselves superior to anything and everything on Gods earth.

If you only meet lousy Chinese and go to lousy places in China, it is your own luck.

"The Chinese don't need defending, they feel themselves superior to anything and everything on Gods earth."---- this was written by YOURSELF.

  10. You choose what you like to read from my post. And you add your illusion. You don't need to represent others' opinion. I also don't represent other Chinese. Just my personal view.

From where you can see I am "racist " to westerners ? Can't I just list the facts?!?!?!? I'm not annoyed when you say SOME Chinese have slant eyes and SOME are extremely rude and vulgar and stupid. It is a solid fact.

Oh, you lived in China for one year. Does it matter ? I know many who lived there for over 10 years but still don't know much about China and its people. Same as many poor Chinese smuggled in to the west and live there for decades but still know little about the local society.

Communism ruined China for many generations and it has serious problems now. Takes time to cure. But this is NO excuse for SOME your guys to be racists against China.

Your post is shameful and stubborn and stiff.

  11. It's time for me to say something.

FOR ME, this is just an ad. How people comprehend it, it's another story.
But, some people's posts , are incredibly rude, stupid, narrow minded, ignorant, and yes, racist.
I'm a Chinese, I state again. And a mainland Chinese too.
Although I hate the communism in China, I love China. From the past , into the future.
For those racist foreigners, I can only say they have ill education about history and politics of other countries.
It's not rare that China was ruled by other races, like the Yuan Dynasty (Mongolians), Qing Dynasty (Mandarin), and the People's Republic of China (once controlled by the communist Russians....)
Look at the things with a long term view, not narrowly for only a few decades, eh?
Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, are full of Chinese. And in Thailand, most rich people and top management people are from Chinese families. In the international Olympics for Maths, Physics, Chemistry, always the Chinese students win the medals.
Chinese are able to master the western things, like classic music (Lang Lang, Yo Yo Ma, etc) and technology; But how many westerners can master Chinese things like Yi Jing, TCM...... I can write here in English (German, Japanese too), can you write back in Chinese to show your racism ?!?!?!
This is an old race. I like to be a Chinese, for its rich culture and intelligence and wisdom.
Bad luck that China is often destroyed by savage powers (buts still lucky, it did not disappear like other ancient civilisations ......).As Ying and Yang theory goes, situation always changes from time to time. My generation, and the next generations, will change China into a better country, and correct the mistakes done by our stupid and brutal ex-generations.
And how about you, racist farangs? You are lying on the achievements from your great-great-granapa generations and think you are the number one. Fine, keep dreaming.
  12. We just inspected it a few weeks ago, and there have some to rent even now in high season. Surely they have apt available in low seasons like Aug.

You can browse their website and call them. They have price for daily/weekly/monthly.

As for cot, that seems a problem. Maybe you can prepare in advance. Like using the Pattaya Little Monkeys group on Facebook to ask if you can rent from someone for a short period.

  13. I gave up, ok ? thumbsup.gif

If some of you think being late, not keeping promise, beating around the bush etc is the normal attitude of working, then I will not reply to this kind of posts anymore.

Why so many big companies in Rayong use Bangkok agents for relocation of their expats/families ? Chance favours the prepared mind. High end market can't tolerate low class mistakes.

Used to work 3 years as regional sales manager in Bosch. Criticism was never something bad for me. If it was right, I must improve; It wrong, then why would customer have this wrong impression? What could I do to avoid it ?

I never say agents are rubbish. If a lawyer does a lousy job, he is also rubbish. Rubbish exist in all kinds of trade. The only difference is they always remain at the bottom.

  14. With regard to the OP's comment about having to pay a fee each subsequent year a Tenant renews their Tenancy Agreement, this is perfectly

    You are right.

If problems occur, North Point management office can handle nicely. And we can also contact tenant & his company HR department directly. Agent has nothing do with these at all. (I've heard some people complain that their agent helps nothing since they moved in)

Yup, if we rent at 100K/M, that is not a cheap commission to pay each year.

  15. No, you wrong me.

I always communicate with them precisely, clearly and politely. Even "I rejected her firmly", I did in a polite way. I myself hate arrogance and egoists.

It's true that until now, 70% of the agents I met left me a bad impression. I know there are good ones too.

We lived in rented apt for 7 years in the previous country before we moved to Thailand. I know what is a professional and efficient agent is, specially in the high end property market.

If no improvement is done, cutomers will lose patience easily and change to other agents.

  16. Only the 9th and already the first agent bashing thread of the year rears its ugly head. OP, if you dont want to deal with agents do it yourselfe, collect rent, do contracts, take calls at 4am when there is no electric etc etc etc...your choice

No, this will not happen in North Point. Management fee is high, but the service is also good. Plus the professional support form tenant's company HR/Admin.

  17. With regard to the OP's comment about having to pay a fee each subsequent year a Tenant renews their Tenancy Agreement, this is perfectly standard in my home country. If the owner gets the benefit of a rental income from a good tenant each year, then why shouldn't they pay a small commission for this benefit ? No one ever stops to think that an agent has expenses to pay and needs to make a living like everyone else. Whilst I cannot comment on the unprofessionalism of some agents, please don't bracket all agents under the same umbrella. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Sorry, I didn't mean to say all agents are bad. Just some.

That agent I mentioned wants to sign a one year contract (before she said the client will stay long years, so we offered cheap price ). And she wanted to show her customer to our home to have a look tomorrow. (Did not even ask if we will have time). Of course, I rejected her firmly this time.

Isn't this a waste of time on both sides?

  18. Am I missing something? Why would you put a property for rent up a year ahead of time? So even if someone wants it they have to wait until next year? Seems ridiculous. Also is 30 minutes late really that late? Do you ever think the people looking for the place are late and that is why or they took longer to look at a place before yours or traffic? I have done hundreds of rentals back home. People will cancel with a five minute notice and none at all. Other people just walk into an office and want to see something right away ( but not for a year from now). I know agents have a bad reputation here and elsewhere but often the general public are completely to blame. I screen potential renters very carefully before they ever get into my office/car. The people who find it annoying when I ask about their price range, why they are moving, who will live in the property, what they are doing for work, length of stay etc. I simply just put off and often won't bother to get back to. As others have said you don't have to pay a second fee at all. One last note. The fixed time of your sleeping baby sometimes has to be upset. Is the door of the bedroom being opened for a quick peek at the room really such a big deal? I also have known many a baby going to sleep often an hour later than the " fixed time" every once in awhile look at both sides. Yes many agents suck and many people looking for places suck.

In international companies, for expat contract , normally the new assignment negotiation will start 6 months before the old contract terminates; and it's also common that the staff will start the new assignment before the old contract ends (as new offer normally is better than the old one). Plus everything takes longer in Thailand. We like to give us enough lead time to sort out someone we like to rent to. And we also need time to sell car, motorbike later on. Never too early.

.......We already checked many condo/hotels near our home. Once we find the right tenant, we can move right away. We always do things in a organised way.

Client may be unfamiliar with the road. But agents know it well. Being on time is politeness.

For an apt that no one lives, sure client can come to look at/cancel at any time. But we live in the apt now and have our agenda.

Some agents just drag in anyone they can get, although we've told them clearly what kine of tenant we want........
