Have to renew my extension this coming week and I can't remember this one:

No.3. Passport and copy passport (since you have entered in Kingdom until the current stamp).

Does this mean copy all passport pages since original Non. O five years ago? That's a lot of pages with all my coming and goings from Thailand.

Or does it mean since my last entry? November 21. In which case it's nothing.

I don't see any significant change from their list from early 2021, and No. 3 was there in the same words.  The only difference I see in the new list is that the earlier one had at the bottom an item about the medical insurance requirement for non-OAs and I don't see that here.

I read as since last entry stamp, which I did in October (2021), plus the name page. The lady at the counter however walked to the copy machine, and copied all other used pages in the passport; i.e. all pages until your last stamp in the passport...:whistling:

Last year (my first extending in Samui) I only brought copies of:  main page,  first visa (actually the transfer stamp with the visa info because my first visa was in an old passport), last extension, last entry stamp. I got my extension and I don't recall them copying more, but maybe they did.  It seems strange if they want the whole book since first entry on our retirement visa, because for people like me whose visa is in an old passport, the logic ought to extend to copying the old one too, which neither Samui nor BKK has ever asked me to do.   And even in the current passport, why would they want intervening pages with stamps from unrelated travel?  However, one never knows!

Mid October, almost same procedure as every year...????

Don't forget that you now can book appointment time in advance for extension of stay in the Kingdom, including Samui, link HERE...

Thanks I wasn't aware of it.  Did you use it?  I just checked the separate thread on this topic and it seems that sometimes it just doesn't work or you get an appointment but when you arrive at the office they don't give it any acknowledgement, you just wait in line as usual (2 people in Phuket reported this) and some offices are outright saying they don't use the system.

I think - unfortunately "think", as it I'm on non-O so it was not important for me - that it's for new approved visas from 1st October 2021.

A quick Google-search only reveals this...

    Source link HERE.

Thanks, that may be right.  How recently did you go for your extension, was it October?  Any new wrinkles or surprises that you noticed?

Thanks!  As far as I can see, the only change from last year is the addition at the bottom of the Non-OA insurance certificate requirement.   Correct?

Regarding that insurance, it says 40K/400K but I've seen news reports that it has been recently upped to 40K/3M.  Is that not the case or have they just not properly updated this list?

  6. Hi All,

Please update the Samui requirements for extension of stay based on retirement non-OA visa.   I will be going next month.  Attached is the list I have from last year, which for some reason omits the medical insurance certificate (I believe the current coverage requirement, since this fall, is B3 million and B40K OPD, and I assume B100K Covid coverage - please confirm if you know).  I also expect they may ask for a Covid vaccination certificate.

So:  Apart from the insurance certificate, is anything missing from this list?

I have never read a report of anybody not being able to a report as a tenant with proof they are one.

Good to hear!  If I can trouble you with another follow-up,  do you think it would work to bring the form and docs at the same time as applying for extension of stay or does the TM30 have to make its way into the database first (in which case I might need 2 visits to Immigration).

  8. 8 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

    The immigration act states this.

"Section 38 : The house – master , the owner or the possessor of the residence,"

And this of from section 4.

“House Master ” means any persons who is the chief possessor of a house , whether in the capacity of owner , tenant , or in any other capacity whatsoever , in accordance with the law on people act."

Thanks - certainly  seems clear that a tenant is included.  I just have this gnawing feeling that the Immigration office might insist the owner (the same person whose name is in the house book and on the ID card) also sign the TM30.  Is that out of the question?  My concern is because living on another island it’s an overnight trip to get to Koh Samui Immigration and I hate to waste it.

  9. 52 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

Thanks!   So will Imm accept this if I (the tenant) sign as housemaster?  I know there’s some difference of view in this forum about whether we tenants really are, within the meaning of the statute, but as long as the officer will accept it that’s all that matters.

  10. 3 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

Most hotels would of already done it online since immigration has been enforcing it for them for a long time and even set up the online for them to do it. You would need to ask them about and they should be able to give you screenshot of it.

The landlord should do it but you as a tenant are also responsible for them being done. You would need proof of the address for the report such a copy of a rental agreement and they want singed copies of the owners house book and ID card.

OK but having those documents, how would I actually file the TM30?   I once tried online years ago with no luck.  Is there a form we can print and fill out and simply bring to the Imm Office with the other documents?

From a landlord‘s point of view:

the TM30 is filed by the „house master“.  Not the owner of the property.  Once the tenant signs a lease and is handed the keys, the tenant is the „house master“.   How is a landlord supposed to know when a tenant comes and goes and who sleeps over?

I tell tenants to do it themselves. Oftentimes their agent will handle it. Never me.  Hotels and short term accommodation with checkin and checkout procedures. are a different story.

Can you please explain how a tenant can register a form TM30?  The Koh Samui Immigration Office does require it for extensions of stay and the landlords sometimes don't do it.   Even the hotels sometimes fail to because they have trouble with the online system.

I cannot add anything to I wrote in topic you quoted.

Trying the mobile app might answer your questions. A link for Android and Apple apps is posted in the first post of this topic.

Thanks, I downloaded the app now and tried it, same result except the error message is a bit more informative:  "Arrival information not found .... contact the Immigration Branch ..."  I suspect the problem is that when I arrived back in the Phuket Sandbox in August my TM6 was not processed properly.  The whole procedure was very rushed.  I'll have to drop by my IB and see if they can straighten it out.

Have you applied for a extension of stay since your last successful online report?

Whether or not the online report is successful  is dependent upon the system your local office is using.

The mobile app for online report has more than one message on it. If you have applied for a new extension at some offices it will give you a message you are on a overstay.

You may have seen my post of today, I couldn't get past p. 1 of the online submission and yes, I got an extension of stay since my last online report - although I filed an in-person 90 day at the same time as my extension, both using my current address, so I expected the online now would work perfectly.   Any idea why not?

  14. Just tried to file 90 day online as usual, got this after submitting the first page:  "For further information regarding The 90-day Notification Report Service, please contact the Immigration Branch Office in your residence area."  Refreshed the captcha, tried again, same result.

    Any idea why?

Background:  I live in Koh Phangan.  Did my retirement extension in January at Samui Immigration.  At the same time filed a 90-day in person there.  Then went back to Canada in March, and returned this past August to Phuket for the sandbox, then back to Koh Phangan, same address as notified in January.  (The 90-day I filed before last was online in Nov. 2020 while living in BKK, different address - but that seems irrelevant since as stated I filed one in person with my current address, in Jan. 2021).

Thanks now I read it.  Two things that seem unclear both from the news articles and the letter you received from your insurer are:  1. is the outpatient requirement (currently B40K) changing or does the new B3M requirement only apply to the inpatient requirement (currently B400K)?  2.  Does the policy have to expressly say that the new B3M coverage covers treatment for Covid-19?

Nothing new really. It was proposed and approved by the cabinet in principle months ago.

It will only affect new OA visas issued after the 1st of September.

So it won't affect extensions of existing OA visas?  That would be nice.  But what I don't get is that the article (in today's BKK  Post, 21 October) calls this "perks" for foreigners and says it's to promote health tourism - in other words, they make it sound as if some new benefit is being given, whereas in fact it seems to be an increase in the burden on the applicant.  Am I missing something?

On a retirement O/A. Extensions done at Chonburi.

For clarity, I am talking about the reverse side of the TM6, not the front. It's necessary to provide a copy of the front of the TM6 but never been asked for a copy of the reverse which bares the date stamp from the airport immigration officer upon your arrival. In fact my TM6 is now not even in my passport when I go for extensions because the two times I lost them was while my passport was in the hands of the IO overnight.  Probably a Chinese staple or more likely a dog-eared passport page from a thousand stapled documents being removed over the years.

    Muppets.

So what I have after arriving in Phuket is the Departure Card portion of the TM6, blank, with the reverse side ("For Official Use") unstamped.  In short, a completely blank half of the form.  I can now fill in the front (name, date of birth, etc.) although not the "Flight no./Vehicle no." since of course I don't know what that will be until I depart.  Is that all I have to do and then provide a copy of that to Immigration when I go for my extension?  If so it's easy but I must say it seems quite pointless since all the information is already in my passport.

  18. 36 minutes ago, skatewash said:

I don't think the OP has to worry about an unstamped TM-6 Departure Card as long as he has an entry stamp in his passport with the correct permission to stay until date.  My own TM-6 Departure Card is also unstamped and I have received two retirement extensions since then and it has never been mentioned.  I actually used to find it strange that they stamped your departure card with the same permission to stay date that they stamped your passport -- seemed redundant to me.

Good to hear.  But as you know it always depends on the specific Immigration office, they are very inconsistent in their requirements.  Which office do you use?

In 12 years I have never been asked for a copy of the reverse side of the departure card (bearing  a date-stamp), nor have I seen any officer of any immigration office or airport staff even look at the back of the card.  Twice I have lost my card and when departing BKK, simply grabbed a blank arrivals/departures card and completed the necessary section.  Never had a problem.

What kind of visa or extension are you on?  It may be that for some kinds they want to see this.  I know it's on the list I have for a retirement extension done at the Samui immigration office.

  20. I'm on a retirement extension of stay based on a non-OA visa.  I arrived back this week at the Phuket Sandbox.   Immigration procedures were totally different than usual.  They took my Form T6 but did not return it stamped to me as in past, they just tore off the Arrival portion, kept it and handed me back the blank Departure stub (I hadn't completed it yet), unstamped.  I was too exhausted to take note.  So now I have no stamped TM6.  As I recall, in past I've needed it when I apply for my extension/multiple re-entry permit and file my 90 day report.  What should I do?

@TerraplaneGuy, ubonjoe is correct re PCR test for transit flights through Abu Dhabi.

The Etihad web site is quite specific re PCR test requirements for transit flights to Phuket.

Not more than 72 hours from point of origin..

Thanks I saw that and it does seem very clear but then there is another place where it says "You must have a Covid-19 PCR test before every Etihad Airways flight, even if you are just transiting.  Take your test 72 or 48 hours before your flight, depending on where you're flying to."  This could be read to mean that your test must be no more than 72 hours before the transit flight, not just the flight from point of origin.  HOWEVER, I called Etihad and after over 3 hours on hold got a lady who confirmed that in the case of my flight, anyway, it is only the flight from point of origin that matters here.  Hopefully she is correct ????

You might be right. But do the officials, who check that certificate, know all that? Or could they possibly interpret the way they think it's right or should be.

I don't want to say that this will happen. But it is not unusual in Thailand that official interpret the rules differently from the way they are.

OK guess what I just got through to Etihad Airways after 3 hours on hold, and asked them (because I'm flying from Toronto to Phuket soon with them) and they agree with you!  They say the 72 hours relates to the time of the test, not the certificate.  They said that's what they were told by the Thai government.   What exactly they got in writing I don't know but this interpretation is reflected on the Etihad website.
