  1. I was sweating this as I overlanded from Vietnam via the Ha Tien border, didn't have any $US. Needn't have worried, they just converted the $US into Vietnam Dong which I had plent of, any paid in that. It was easy apart from all the queues / stamping rigmarole, both in and out of Cambodia as was only there for a few days.
  2. Most likely running in Sihanoukville, people are not allowed to leave these huge building and are forced to scam. One TukTuk driver pointed to one building and said, Vietnamese all in that building.
  3. With respect, I've never fancied another man, I am not bisexual to any degree, but I do recognise there is a scale - I'm just at the far (straight) extreme of it.
  4. To be honest, everyone gets bullied or singled out just for being out of the "ordinary". Pretty girls at school get bullied for being pretty, I got bullied for being small and very thin. I recently got bullied by a huge 6ft6 gay guy, just because he didn't agree with a point I made in conversation regarding politics. Sure he wouldn't have if I was a similar size. We have all got to be accepted that most of us are outside of the "normal" range somewhere in life, and accept that we will be bullied or laughed at.
  5. Go to a Gay venue then. That would be my idea of hell
  6. If only the politicians can identify males with a prostate and females as without. The prostate is too dangerous to remove, so all trans ladies can be identified as men from this fact alone
  7. Do it Singapore style
  8. Reminds me of a Thai girl I knew who was a solicitor in UK. Came from a Hi-So family in Bangkok. She was interested in world event and kept up with the news. She got quite angry at Thais in general with their lack of desire to know anything outside of Thailand and embarressed by this too.
  9. Reminds me of the Thail girlfriend in England whom I bought a car for. She was working in a restaurant, living away when I visited her. Car brakes were metal against metal and barely stopped, yet she was determined to go down the motorway to work each day as car still "worked". I had to take the keys and carefully drive it 50 meters to a brake place, I was very embarressed presenting the car in that state.
  10. Can they be eaten? I guess not otherwise this wouldn't be news
  11. I get your point and kind of agree. However, the McDonalds app is pretty good and it's nice to get a bargain sometimes, even if you can afford full price anyway.
  12. I'm always surprised by the number of married people there, lot more than I expected. Pattaya has changed a lot in the last 10 years, each year going slightly more upmarket and more appealing to a wider group of people. I've taken 2 Thai girlfriends to Pattaya for holiday, they weren't bargirls.
  13. So true. At the weekend I was at a music festival in UK, wandered into a tent with band playing, noticed a very hot chick in front of me, guessing about 18-23 with a guy I assumed to be her dad who looked late 50s. Then they started snogging!! Was a bit jealous I must admit. Can't be easy with her circle of friends (unless he is famous, maybe).
  14. Is there an app that directs you to the correct lines to your destination? I used to have one years ago when there were fewer lines, but can't seem to locate one now
  15. I think the point is, in UK and many other places, Comprehensive Insurance & Third party insurance covers all costs to other caused by yourself. For peace of mind in Thailand, when renting a motorbike or scooter, I would ideally like to think I have similar cover there too. But the original gyst of the post is that many, many foreigners on holiday rent scooters, can we assume that most are riding uninsured as most policies limit cc to 125?? I would like to thanks a couple posters above for highlighting a couple of companies who will cover me next time I ride a bike bigger than 125cc.
  16. In the UK if you damaged another vehicle or injured/killed someone, insurance would cover all costs. Admittedly, I'm not competely au-fait with the technicals of insurance in Thailand, but in the same scenario, you would be liable rather than the insurance company.
  17. You would be open to financial risk if you hit + injured someone, albeit unlikely
  18. Interesting. I've just called the company to confirm and you are absolutely correct, any size cc motorcycle. Must wear a helmet, obviously - although no cover if you injure someone else. Many thanks
  19. Ok, I remember years ago riding a Suzuki135 I think, times change. Except for insurance policies. The point is, the restiction for most Travel Insurance policies is 125cc. I'm looking for recommendations for companies who allow a larger cc. Interested (except for residents) what other renters use for insurance, or as suggested above, gofundme when it all goes wrong...
  20. Yes, I have read my policy and it states up to 125cc on my worldwide travel insurance. I should have stated: Which UK based travel insurer do you use when renting motorbikes over 125cc? I do have a full motorcycle license too. Not so easy to find.
  21. One would like to think. I used Timpsons (UK, I know), for about 3 times on the trot to change battery, then had water in watch one day, kept misting up. I was in Thailand when this happened, went to a watch stop in MBK who opened the watch to discover a broken rubber seal. Timpsons!!! I threw the watch away, did irk me - cost about £250
  22. From the UK, most travel policies cover up to 125cc, but many scooters here in Thailand are often slightly more, 135cc seems common. How do others manage this, other than rent cars instead?
  23. I suspect that these nationalities are probably lower in height than Thai. My Thai lady is 48KG and comes up to my shoulders. In Vietnam, many locals there came up to her shoulders
  24. Rubbish - I did a cruise that stopped at Phuket, had a few beers and enjoyed some proper Thai food there.
