Long hair every time, for women at least in Thailand. One of the good things that Taskin has done is to get rid of the hair cut rules for girls attending school. I was nearly in tears when my niece had to get her hair cut to attend school a few years ago. There’s a plus point for him. I think middle aged Thai women with short hair look like their counterparts in the west and ages them, but that’s just a matter of status.

P.S. There are lots of couples that come to Thailand to enjoy sex with other partners. In the west they are called swingers I believe.

It is just speculation what happen at the moment. My wife has been translating the Thai new reports for me and her first comment was "Oh dear, Thai police have done bad again" but then I'm not supprised. Her best friends husband who was a prominant Thai government minister got shot a few years ago. the Thai newspapers will perort thier side of the story and the western ones another. Although the police man involved has been in contact with the police, reported in todays Thai newspapers i have my doubts whether this will ever come to trial.

I suspect that you will have to apply for a settlement visa again but check with the embassy. I think the guide lines for re entry are 2 years but there is some discretion allowed by the immigration officer.

The idea of the bus stops in the middle of the road intrigues me. I suppose if it has taken too long to get where you want it is easy to get the bus back.

We'll just have to wait to find the real story, if it ever comes out. The Thai newspapers will push the point that the victims were of low character while the western ones will play the angle that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Violence and gun crime has always been a big problem in Thailand but it is usually confined to corrupt politicians and the Thai mafia. Now some of the mafia are turning themselves into whiter than white politicians it might stop but I doubt it.

I think it will depend on how much you push it. I would send an E. mail to the emassy stating that you want the visa urgently. Get your girl friend to take or post her passport to the embassy and they should return it stamped within a few days. Your visa has already been granted by the tribunual and just needs a stamp in the passport. They might try to fob you off by saying the paper work is still in London but just push them and even E mail your M.P. if things are starting to drag.

I thought the custom in Thailand was to only leave small change unless the service was exceptional.

My wife got stopped for not wearing a seat belt butshe refused to pay the fine and went to the Police Station later to pay it. That night we went out for a drink and I suggested that we get a Tuk Tuk but she insited on driving. I asked what happens if you get stopped again, she replied you can only get one ticket a day. You could have a hardware problem. Download a memory checker from the internet and check the memory. I think memcheck will do it.

I just have one comment. The rates are way above what they should be already and any ex-pat should lobby his/her MP in all of the areas they have ever lived in. It is legislation by stealth which is not acceptable in any country.

A long time ago I had a flat, or condo, in Bangkok. I also had a girl friend. One night we had a party and invited lots of people from the Beer Garden on Soi 7. One of my saddest moments in my life was to watch one girl crying, she had not got a man and she thought that she was too old to get one again. It turned out that my girl friend was married and lived in Victoria, Canada. At the end of the day the person I respect is the girl who cried. The good thing is that we are still in contact and help each other out when needed. I’ve still not gone to bed with her..

Yes you are right but don't forget that all electronic messages are monitored in the Europe and the states, all of them whether its telephone or e mail. Yes the Thais have a new computer system that is linked to others around the world, it’s as easy to do as I’m talking to you.

If they are your children you will not have a problem with the embassy. If you have not already applied for entry clearance for your wife you will have to sit tight and wait a while. If you can think of an urgent reason to go to the UK procedures can be bypassed.
