  1. One of the lessons I learnt about Thailand over a number of years is that the intelligence of Thais is a lot higher than in western countries. Thais think differently and their values are different but at the end of the day they will run rings around us and have been doing so for years.

  2. As you've seen at the airport they have changed. The system is getting rolled out to all other entry points in Thailand. This should have been done by now but I think that they are a bit behind. They still have to enter a lot of stuff manually but it's the bar code on your passport that alerts them to problems, I don’t think changing your name will help.

At the end of the day you were in the wrong place at the wrong time and the person who dealt with you was in a bad mood.

Persist with the Thai embassy and I think all will turn out well.

If you have any other problems PM me and I will give you my e mail address.

  3. I’ve been going to Nana for years without having sex. I must admit that I’ve had my hair cut there a few times. Most of the bars in Bangkok offer sex in some form or other. I don’t like the go-go bars but only because the music is too loud but some of the bars in Nana are good to unwind and have a drink and a chat. Not all bar girls are Barbie Dolls some can hold a good conversation, perhaps more than your average disco punter in the west.

  4. I feel very sorry for you. By the time you change your name etc all immigration posts will be online to a central system with bar code readers for passports.

I think your best bet is to plead your case with the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs either directly or through the Thai embassy in London. I would try and get someone at the embassy to take your case up first.

From your post I understand that you are a victim of a visa scam and it makes me angry when I compare your situation another recent post on this forum about overstaying 2 years.

Don’t give up hope, if you persist I think you will be allowed in again. Good luck.

  5. I can’t speak about the USA but if a similar situation occurred in the UK you would have two alternatives.

    1. Get married in your own country and then apply for the residency permit. In the UK this can take up to 2 years and you can expect a lot of unpleasant interviews.

    2. Go to Thailand and marry then apply for a settlement visa from there. Again it will not be easy and the embassy is likely to put obstacles in your way but eventually they will grant the visa.

A Thai friend of mine was in a similar situation in the U.K. lived with a Brit for about 5 years and went back to Thailand to get married and obtain a settlement visa. She was able to leave the UK without any exit stamp in her passport and when she arrived in Thailand she was able to get an entry stamp backdated but she was lucky.
