  1. Concert continues now on CBS with Fashion Rocks

David Bowie, Destiny's Child, Duran Duran, Gwen Stefani, Nelly and Tim McGraw lead the lineup for the 2005 Fashion Rocks concert, at New York's Radio City Music Hall during the city's annual Fashion Week.

Don't miss it- Turn the tube on now !!

  2. Lots of great music on all the major networks in the USA right now.

Mariah Carey is belting out her love song and she is beautiful in every respect. Man what a voice she has !! :o This concert includes musical performances by Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, Dixie Chicks, Foo Fighters, Alicia Keys, Randy Newman, Paul Simon, Rod Stewart, U2, Kanye West and Neil Young and appearances by Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Don Cheadle, Jennifer Aniston, Jack Black, Cameron Diaz, Ellen DeGeneres, Morgan Freeman, Jack Nicholson, Chris Rock, Ray Romano and Sela Ward.

  3. Nothing is more beautiful than the dark tan of Thai skin. My Thai wife has always covered up or avoided the sun but our two daughters now married and in their twenties have gone to tanning salons since their high school days to get a better tan. Just goes to show you that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Its also far more silky soft to the touch that white farang skin.

  4. New Orleans Louisiana under Mandatory Evacuation

Category 5 Hurricane Katrina the most powerful one is headed for the "Big Easy" and surrounding area. Winds from 160 to 190 miles per hour are expected. New Orleans is 12 feet below sea level protected by a 13 foot levy. Storm surge is expected to be higher than the levy plus all the rain. Oil rig workers have been evacuated. Gasoline production facilities are in danger of being destroyed. Electrocution from all the downed power lines is also a major threat. :o

  5. My first concert was the Rolling Stones, 1966 at Houston, Texas. They played Satisfaction, Paint it Black and much more that I can’t remember. A lot of people lit up despite the police and there was so much guncha in the air I felt high from second hand smoke and the greatest Rock and Roll band ever.

  6. Just had one and it hurt for a few days

The procedure itself wasn't painful after he injected the anesthetic. Afterwards I took four Advil (800mg.) before leaving his office and then every 4 hours. Dentist gave me a script for penicillin and acetaminophen/codeine to fill and take if I had some swelling and pain. So on day 2 I was in the pharmacy getting it filled. Probably should have filled it from the beginning. I also rinse with 3% hydrogen peroxide to kill off any bacteria. Here in Austin Texas they charge $500 for the root canal and $400 to put in a post in to the root and cement back the old crown.

  7. Check with Angel Travel

We got best deal on our tickets from Angel Travel dot com last year. They are currently saying Cathay Pacific has a ticket for $675 LAX to BKK. I learned about them from Thai Student Association websites. You can probably get other agent recommendations from checking out those Thai student sites.

  8. FOX News- Dr. Rosenfeld says take cinnamon for diabetes

Today on Fox News Dr. Rosenfeld said people with type 2 diabetes should add ½ to 2 teaspoons of cinnamon to what they eat or drink every day. New research demonstrates that this spice helps lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

He said on his segment on Fox New that after reading medical research on this he had his wife who has type 2 diabetes take cinnamon daily and she had a dramatic decrease in blood sugar.

A cheap natural medicine for diabetes but I don't know if it is enough to keep one off of other meds. I don't have diabetes but I am going to try it to reduce my cholesterol. I hear Thais have a high rate of diabetes.

  9. Bird Flu Vaccine Takes Step Forward

    From Reuters -Aug 7

WASHINGTON — Human tests show that an experimental vaccine stimulates the immune system to fight the bird flu strain that experts worry could spur a worldwide pandemic, a top government scientist said Saturday.

But the encouraging findings do not overcome the major hurdle: producing enough vaccine in the event of a pandemic, said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The vaccine is grown in chicken eggs, and production can take months.

Fauci said early analysis of tests in healthy adults younger than 65 showed that the vaccine produced a strong immune response.

The test results, which were first reported by the New York Times, are "an important landmark in the broader plan of how you prepare a nation for pandemic flu," Fauci said.

But he added: "One of the sobering issues is, we still haven't solved the problem that we have had for years and years, which is vaccine production capability: Are we going to be able to make enough of this stuff?"

The H5N1 strain has killed about 50 people in Asia since 2003. Public health experts said the virus was mutating and could develop the ability to spread easily from person to person and kill millions.

Officials are working with vaccine makers to find ways to hasten vaccine manufacturing.

  10. Sounds lonely- a pet may help

A dog that could live in the home may help if you get one with a good personality that she likes. Face it- the west is unfriedly compared to Thailand. Labs are good dogs but they are big. I would do some research on the internet to learn about the nature of individual breeds and their size to be sure it would do well in your living accommodations. No pit bulls or other vicious dogs or you will end up with another problem.

  11. That's terrible

But it's a lot worse across the border from Laredo, Texas. Since January, more than 100 people have been killed in Nuevo Laredo. Human rights groups say that in the past two years more than 400 people have been kidnapped, including more than 40 Americans. Authorities have said the violence is a war between Mexico's two most powerful drug gangs to control key routes.

NUEVO LAREDO, Mexico (AP) - The United States will close its consulate for one week to assess the security of its employees and consulate visitors in this Mexican border town after a shootout between drug gangs using machine guns, grenades and a rocket launcher.

  12. Cell phone sevice gives you a phone in U.S.

If you are moving back to the US from Thailand you will find that you get a phone free when you sign up for service here- usually a year or two commitment though. Its mostly CDMA over here so I wouldn't get a GSM from Thailand as it is probably not compatible. Just go to Verizon and Cingular when you get here to compare phones and plans and then signup. You will walk away with a free phone. :o

  13. Kai Yaat Sai

Wife fixes me great omelets at home far from Thailand. I did not find anyplace on our last trip to LOS that packs them with what I like- cheese, mushrooms, ground pork sausage, garlic, onions, tomatoes, bell pepper, paak chee/cilantro, and pineapple. I know that sound like too much for most of you but it is oh so good... She insist that it be called kai yaat sai so maybe if you ask for that and explain what you want in it you can find the kind of omelet you are looking for. :o
