  1. That light at the end of the tunnel may be the pig flu express coming straight at us. Today Bloomberg reports "The swine flu strain that has sickened people in 30 countries rivals the severity of the 1957 “Asian flu” pandemic that killed 2 million people, scientists said. ... A “moderate” pandemic like the 1957 Asian flu could kill 14.2 million people and shave 2 percent from the global economy in the first year, the World Bank said in October."

Just when I thought this flu was going to be like any other flu this article pops up so now I wonder....

  2. Sleep safe America......NOT! There is an Inspector General staff paid to evaluate and report on activities at the Federal Reserve. They don't even know anything about the $2 trillion the Fed lent out or the probable $11+ trillion that includes off-book entries asserted by reporters. Inquiring Representatives want to know but the IG apparently prefers the mushroom approach....to be kept in the dark and fed a lot of BS. :)

  3. I not only move over to let them pass but I also monitor my rear view mirror for quickly approaching cars and get over when its safe before they tailgate. It makes no sense to make someone in a hurry tailgate you before you will move out of the way.

  4. Done. Longer than I guessed it would be.

Thank you for your valuable time in helping on my studies. It will really help me a lot

Would you mine helping advise where are the best places to find foreign tourists to help fill out on a hard copy?

So far I have gone to burger shop, Night Bazaar, Sunday Walking Street Market. Leave the survey box at one guesthouse.

    Again, appreciated your kindness! :)

Your welcome. As a tourist, my two favorite places were Doi Suthep and San Kamphaeng Road (the handicraft highway) where they make lacquer ware, silver ware, sa-paper umbrella paintings, etc. Maybe some tourists there will help.

  5. It really depends on the business and their duties but it sounds like you may have some flexibility. Some businesses use flex time but still their times need to be scheduled in advance. Since they all have cell phones, you could have a rule that they must call you if they will be more than 15 minutes late and you can tell them no...its a problem... I need you here now because we are slammed with business or ok but you will need to work early or late on whatever day the boss chooses to make up for this. I wouldn't let it go even if you are flexible... or the expectation is there are no real regular hours of work.

  6. The collateralized debt securities that were based on fraud are such a small percentage of the total investment universe that it cannot account for the 50%+ decreases in many benchmarks. The market meltdown is just the same old fear and greed cycle of investors that was exaggerated by the misapplication of mark to market accounting and some shocking fraud as a catalyst for the decline that should have been avoided if the companies and regulators were doing their jobs. The fraudsters ought to be relentlessly pursued and punished.

To me, the problem assets are being blown out of proportion by the shorts collecting on terrorizing investors but markets are now recovering and they are covering their shorts. Investors are regaining confidence enough to get back in, but a 50% decline takes a 100% increase to get back to the same money level. A pull back can always become yet another retest of the November 2007 lows (March 6 was lower but volume was lighter so that's a successful retest)....no guarantees as a fat tail event like 9/11 could occur... but the risk reward ratio is a lot better here than at Dow 14,000.

  7. "In the U.S., out-of-state students often pay more tuition and fees than in-state students."

That is because U.S. taxpayers pay income, property and sales taxes that among other things pay most of the costs of University and College education costs in the U.S. Since foreign students come here for an education and then should return home, they usually don't pay their fair share of the costs of their education. Many are even able to avoid the higher foreign student rate by getting a discount to the in-state rate by taking a part time job with the University such as a lab assistant in a sophomore class. About half of the electrical engineering students at University of Texas are from India. If the taxpayer only knew their students are rejected from admission and part time jobs at the University because of the Indian student clique they would probably revolt.

As a tourist, I don't mind paying extra at Thai national parks etc. for what Thais have preserved or paid for through taxes etc. but Dream World? Probably not subsidized by the Thai government.

Dream World sells happiness but happiness is probably better achieved through lowered expectations.
