Chinese tourism to Thailand lags despite lifted travel restrictions
fallup88 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It’s the same for all other countries, Chinese tourist numbers are down everywhere. Chinas economy is in the gutters, and China still controls the number of group tours going overseas. I was told n Korea this past summer, it was so empty at many tourist sites which was a nice change for once compare to the crowded tour groups in the past. -
Thailand’s food delivery drivers feel pinch as Grab, Line rack up losses
fallup88 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
40 baht is paid by grab to the driver. Grab gets a commission of 30% of food cost from restaurants, and they get the delivery fee on top. Delivery fee shown is not what driver earns. -

It is more physical than most folks think, they are walking and on their feet the whole day too. but for folks with no special skill or low education, it’s an easy job to earn decent money compare to other jobs which would have paid around 15,000 per month. The average grab makes around 25-35k per month, which is not bad. -

Yes. Majority of 7-11 workers are part time workers too and are not even paid according to minimum wage. Some are there for internship work also, I believe pay is none to almost non existent as 7-11 company has a management school for kids in order to be able to have a steady supply of workers at their stores. -

It simply down to fighting for market share and trying to squeeze out competitors to see who can last the longest. Lazada is own by alibaba in China, they have a huge money pool at their disposal whenever they need a money injection. -
Says the person who approve the application for Thaksins pardon. Can’t get more ironic than that.

Electric car fire: Week-old million baht vehicle ignites in Udon Thani mall
fallup88 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Yes it’s expensive to fix as the battery is part of the chassis. In heavy accidents, it’s usually just written off. I read on Thai forums someone had slight damage on the underside of the car, the dealer had to replace the whole battery pack costing around 300,000 baht. -
Tourist numbers are down due to the economy, it’s not just the Chinese tourist numbers. Chinese government has not been approving a lot of group travels too. Which I suspect is due to the bad economy at home, they don’t want people spending more money overseas. Lastly, there is a shortage of flights and flight numbers have not recover since Covid. Even on domestic routes, there are shortage of seats. The increase in tourist number won’t effect Thailand causing any bottlenecks, the criminal part will. There is already a surge in Chinese criminals in Thailand.

Kitchen sets from Ikea, SB Furniture, Index are made of mdf / particle boards which are treated with chemicals to deter termites. But over time the chemicals will fade and termites will eat it up. No matter if its house or condos, termites will be there – especially if its old condos. I have condo rental units in jomtiem and Bangkok and have seen termites devour closet and kitchen sets – but these are old units 20+ years and on 30+ floor too! Newer condos don’t really have termite problems but it still exists. Pros of Ikea unit is its easy / cheap to replace and change if you have damage. Cons might be if you are in pattaya, its hard to do. Like another poster said, your main problem will be water damage from leakage and drips under the sink. I have changed my rental units to boonthavorn concrete kitchen sets due to water damage problems from tenants. They are tiled inside also with quartz counter tops and tile sides. I have attached a picture. The door part is not as nice, but not bad. There is a lot of selections at the store. Even in Boonthavorn, there are at least 3 different companies offering kitchen services. Have a look and shop around.

Moral of the story, don’t be an idiot in the middle of the road if you have drugs, illegal firearm, fake license plate, and 2 lady boys in the car. -
Again! Young Man Injured After Shoe Gets Stuck In Escalator
fallup88 replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
I was referring the cover at the side, the other commenter was saying how it’s full of stains too. The stains are just oil/grease. There is suppose to be another cover with a brush guard that they took off, hence you see the stains / grease. -

The opening is because they took the cover off to repair it. That’s not how it normally is. -
Truth be told, pesticides used here are no better too. But many fruits from China are being packed to make it look like they are from Korea and Japan. Many times boxes do not say Made in China and they use Korea / Japanese text on the packing to try ti fool consumers. I think cheap imports from China will hurt more local producers than they benefit in the long run.

How do you propose a Bangkok governor fix air pollution that is caused by burning in the north and partly the weather? I think it’s a hard fix unless the the governors up north tackles the burning problem in their own provinces. Other than that, I think this current governor is the most active in public tackling big and small problems. Some things are still out of reach and his power to fix, but it seems like he is fixing what’s within his reach for the most part of it.
