Soutpeel is wrong with respect to your tax liability in UK, you are almost certainly not liable for income tax there but he is right that you will be working here illegally (judging from what you have said on this thread anyway).
Agree with your comments about WP, this is the first thing I will do when or If I commit to work in Thailand. Currently on long term holiday in Thailand

You also have to be out the UK for a whole tax year to become tax exempt. I don't know if Thailand has a double tax treaty, so you might need to pay both.
Saying that though - if you are working online/remotely - I doubt the Thai tax office would ever find out about it.
Edit:
Also - what I would do if I was you, is setup an offshore bank account on the Isle of Man - but register it totally with your Thai details. Isle of Man accounts still accept BACS payments, so UK companies can still pay you easily - but it's not going to be registered to your UK persona.
Under the tax rules, the OP is liable for UK tax:
Non-residents (as opposed to domiciled non-residents, who are now subject to slightly different rules) are generally speaking only liable to UK income tax on income derived from:
-
Property situated in the UK
-
Any trade or profession carried on through a branch or agency in the UK
-
Any employment the duties of which are performed in the UK
I know, I filled in the forms and told HMRC that I work in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and now Thailand all remotely on an Ad Hoc basis for a UK Company. HMRC have now classed me as non UK resident. This is where i'm up to...what next ?
How long have you been out the UK ?
Been out of the UK 4 years and have arrived in Thailand on holiday one month ago. Currently weighing up my options. Not to happy with the costs of schools Fees for my Western daughter nor the Medical Fees.
I need advising on the following
What's the rate of income Taxes in Thailand?
What are deductible from income tax? School Fees, Medical Fees, car costs Etc
Please note, I want to understand how i will financially benefit from coming to Thailand before I commit to staying here.
thx in advance

Excellent. First job tomorrow.

You are going to have h*ll of time convincing HMRC that you are non-resident in the UK for tax purposes if you are being paid in the UK by a UK company, and in fact you should be paying tax at source in the UK... so there is your first problem, before dealing with any Thai tax issues
Appreciate you quick answer. Already sorted. Been give a 3 year rebate yesterday now working on National insurance

HI All
I have recently left the UK to come and work in Thailand. My question is as follows if I'm paid in the UK by a UK company and register as a non UK Tax Payer what taxes do I pay in Thailand and most of all whats deductible. Example Childcare costs, School costs, Medical Costs ?
Any advice would be helpful because ive looked at HMRC and it isn't very clear for me to continue the job in Thailand or go back to the UK because living in Thailand thus far with a western Family is very expensive
cheers

When will people finally learn...
You stole my thunder. It reminds me of a song at primary school we used to sing
Where have all the young girls gone? Gone to young men, every one! When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn

NOTE- not to op but others- dont do business with people you see nude!
I do business with ppl I see nude all the time, and so do most of my male friends. Except for a few odd experiences it generally seems to work out just fine for everyone involved. In fact I seem to have more luck doing business with ppl I see nude, than with ppl I don't see nude!
Me to, I do my Business every Wednesday after 22.00 near Azoke Soi 23 :-)

There's a small (6 floors) hotel on Sukhumvit soi 39 in a Japanese area.
Price 1200 baht per night with continental breakfast included. Fresh Thai fruit for breakfast in mornings.
Hotel is non smoking (and they enforce that).
Less than 50 meters down soi 39 from Sukhumvit road
Disadvantages:
Very small rooms.
No place to unpack your bags and put clothes.
Near construction and very noisy until very late at night.
Difficult to find. look for a sign that says "Recycle biasto and Spa" (whatever that means)
Staff is friendly but speaks little English, so be prepared to carefully explain exactly what you want.
Advantages:
New and very clean.
Nice area, Japanese and Korean restaurants near by.
Many carts selling fresh Thai food/fruit near hotel.
Japanese shop just across the soi will do you a Japanese Rice and Sushi packed dinner, Order in the morning when you go out and pick up Sushi/Rice meal in afternoon when you return.
A Thai massage/massage school in same area less than 20 meters from hotel entrance.
They advertise "outside service available".
32 inch LCD television with sattelite channels in room. (only 3 in English, however)
Not sure if advantage or disadvantage:
Caters mainly to Asian tourists (Japan, China, Korean) so think Tokyo style.
Most rooms have double beds only so if you are sharing room with a partner, hope you are "friendly".
Can't tell you the name (rules say can't plug commercial places on this forum) but the name begins with Nan and ends with tra.
I liked it, but I can see where others wouldn't like it.
Forgot to add....very close to Emporium (opposite side of Sukhumvit road)
Very Noisy till late at night, That sounds really good :-(. Cant imagine western
people could put up with that regardless of prices

Let's see. Tsunami hits Thailand. USA collects donations to help Thais affected by the disaster. Hurricane hits USA, Thais estimate how much revenue will be lost on local tourism. Thailand, Hub of "I only care about me"

in my experience of "warranties" in general, they usually refer you to someone else, who then has to send it off, and they tell you it will take about 3 months to do knowing dam_n well you wont wait that long. So, in my experience, dont even bother with a warranty, get it sorted yourself and keep that in mind when purchasing anything. There will in most cases be absolutely no real back-up.
Couldn't agree more...Well said.

You get what you pay for in Thailand normally means the following.
Rooms look very nice on the website, so why your last comment?duiter You can do a website search on Summer Mansion Apartment. The apartment is located near HuayKwang MRT Station. Just remember that you'll get what you paid for.1) Neighbours having parties at all hours and total disregard for noise control.
2) Noddle stands outside playing heavy base music that penetrates the 1 cm think walls
3) Soi dogs fighting at 3AM in the morning
4) If a problem arises with the utilities (Air con, Electric and Internet )nobody speaks a word of English in the apartment
5) Up country Thais eating smelly foods in the apartment block that leaves a strong stench around the building
Been there and worn that tshirt 4 years ago when I came to Thailand
Good luck :-)

A few years ago arrived behind a 747 load of Chinese tourist none spoke English or wrote it. They hadn't filled out their cards arriving at immigration backing up the line to over an hour.
This is very true. Though I hate to generalize about a nation/cultural group, I have to agree that the Chinese are the rudest, most inconsiderate people on the planet...and NOW they have MONEY! You neglected to mention how they brazenly cut into immigration lines...one has to be alert and use one's elbows judiciously to avoid being pushed back by them.
Unfortunately, within 50 years they will--quite literally--rule the world. We are doomed.
Couldn't agree more. Had 2 Chinese sat aside me on a flight to Singapore last year. Both of them where eating noodles and burping aloud and eating like 2 Soi starved Soi dogs....no disrespect Mr Soi dog....I really wanted to vomit.
Now I have a rule anybody who resembles Chinese on any flight on Emirates I asked to be moved, if that fails I get the Airmiles out and book Business Class.
A horrible bunch of peasants who really need to learn some human manors and Etiquette.

Got the same problems with True blocking the box. Started Using the DTAC 3G dongle and have downloaded the BBC news from last night. Note in the Rampkanpeng Area for reference

They have certainly thought this one through well.
So there you are - at the airport having just been scammed by the taxi drivers, jewellers, jet-ski owners, time share sellers etc etc. You have two hours to catch your flight. You go to the 'Tourist Centre' to report all of your problems and ......
.....there is a lot of paperwork to produce, details to be collected, names, descriptions etc etc. Your two hours are quickly gobbled up before you even get to the head of the queue. Even if you get to make your case, before you get to 'yes he is the one who did it'? you will be on a plane long before then.
and dont forget. When you say do you speak English??? They look at you like you asked them for a Million dollars

Well i'm taking no chances just relocating to the 35 floor from the 3rd. should be safe until Xmas

Driving standards are not that bad in Thailand are they...
thx
Ray Charles
You have got to be JOKING!!!!
Tongue and Cheek. The main reason I will be leaving my Expat Job and Thailand next year is because its simply not safe to transport my 3 year old girl around in Thailand.

I do agree they are an improvement but walking around shopping centers being followed and harrased by Thai sales staff aint my cup of Tea either.
Would you like it better if it were western sales staff ?
Just curious.
Yermanee
No, just wish the Thai Staff had more training than a Samutprakarn Zoo monkey and didn't stand there staring at you or following you around the shop.
Maybe then it would be a little more enjoyable.
-
Woppeee, lets go to a crowded market or shopping center.
Yeah, I used to hold similar opinions but more recent malls are worth at least one visit like Terminal 21 and even Mega Bang Na. They have quite unique shops and are quite thoughtfully designed, especially the free play areas if you have kids.
