  2. Interesting...Not had any surgery here in Thailand but had Cateracts..done about 5-15 years ago in UK but unfortunately ...then needed a Corneal Transplant which was identified at of all places McCormicks Hospital,Chiang Mai. Eventually had that procedure carried at the Western (imperial College) in London...but feel might still need a follow up assessment...This c19 has messed up any impending consultations so considering maybe a visit when/if possible to the Rutnin....Not much fun eh...????️????

  3. No we are both still here...and have been contacted by the NHS to come in whenever and get our vac..same GP...Holding back due to new 1 year extension..due in next week...then go for a multi re ent...Recently bought a new flat in both Scotland and London so no problem with self isolation(Tescos on ground floor) and since Thailand is still amber as well as UAE got choices We usually fly Emirates or Etihad. Coming back...yes ...bit of a begger but must remain optimistic.Just heard from one of wifes friends of a certain Hospital with Moderna....things change quickly...so...lets see...chai..

  4. I have a IHG Gold elite status so 10 days racking up double points would be a Bonus.Did you book the 2 and 8 day jabs or did HI arrange it?..Also meal dosnt look bad especially if complimented  with a pint of lager or a glass or 3 of red...

The government guidance can be quite confusing, in many instances they use the term "quarantine" on its own so you have to determine from the context if they are referring to mandatory or self isolation.

Again with vaccination there is confusion over recognition and all about context. Currently, if you been vaccinated anywhere other than UK,EU or US your vaccination status is of little benefit. The main problem appears to be the inability to confirm status.

That does not mean to say your vaccination is not recognised. Public Health England issue guidance on the vaccination of people that have initially been vaccinated abroad and all vaccines are included, even sinovac and sputnik. Where the same vaccine is not available a list of acceptable alternatives is provided.

As far as self isolation is concerned that can be in a private residence or in a hotel. I am currently on Day 3 of self isolation at a hotel near Gatwick, did the Day 2 test on Day 1 and got negative result last night. Will do the Day 5 on Friday and hopefully go north on Saturday.

Now that T-land is classified "Amber"been considering the Holiday Inn at gatwick and the St Giles over by Heathrow..for self isolation...Will decide in a couple of weeks if things stay stagnant here...

I believe it's supposed to be "quarantine at home", but I guess self-isolate is much the same.

Believe the terms are "Self Isolation/Quarantine " which means own home or can be a hotel....whereas... "Managed Isolation/Quarantine."..refers to a Government approved Hotel ...detention where you must pay ...New prices now around 2,300 Pounds for the duration...

The upshot is if you're planning to travel from Thailand to the UK any time within the next few months, don't get your vaccine here in Thailand but wait and get it done in the UK. Hopefully some kind of international certification system will be here next year but don't hold your breath.

Would sus that you would not have a problem with one.or.2 of the Big 4.on entry to UK...Pfizer, Astra, Moderna and J&J with a UK pp...but must agree with above.ie..home jabs..dee makk ..however.. things change quickly

Reason I have refused Sino-anything is the US is about to invoke a vaccine requirement and Sino-whatever will not be on the list as an acceptable vaccine.  Have to be there every year for 3 months.

....whatever one wishes for I hope this does NOT Happen...????‍♂️..Thailand, Georgia and Iran are likely candidates to be Moved to the UK government’s red list of “high risk” countries at the upcoming review of International Travel rules, according to "experts"?.

The next announcement is expected to take place on 5 August as part of the Department for Transport’s tri-weekly update of the travel traffic light lists.

Independent data flagged the three destinations as potential red list additions due to soaring Covid-19 infections, with Thailand and Iran both surpassing their previous records for total new daily cases.

There are already 60 countries on the Red list, with government guidance stating that people “should Not travel to red list countries or territories”.

Looks like Thailand is still on UKs Amber list..good..Also Bahrain,UAE and India...now  Amber (from red)...so Gulf Air,Etihad and Emirates are a go....dee mak..

This is incorrect. As it happened my name was NOT on that first check-in sheet. I dont know why. I had registered online, which was confirmed, and had received a text Sunday notifying me of the appointment. Not being on the list caused some delay and confusion but they eventual wrote my name by hand at the end of the list (I noticed there were  5 or 6 other hand written names). They let me go through. There was more delay at the office window but they sorted it out eventually and let me go get the shot. The moral here is: be sure to take that 13 digit number they attached to your registration. I stupidly forgot to bring it. If I had that there probably would not have been a delay.

Now have 4 x 13 Digit numbers...assume one cancels out the previous...?
