So you're saying that you should check that there is no idiot driving the wrong way. When turning right, position yourself on the crown of the road and give way to ONCOMING traffic. The car should not have been overtaking, and not so fast, and certainly not where there is a right turn (junction albeit a minor one). Apart from the safety issue (no helmets and 3 riders), the bike was being driven correctly.
I wonder where some posters learned to drive!
Probably learnt to drive in Thailand,,,,

I don't think the OAP meets the financial requirements anyway.
I'd suggest most of the Aussies would have more than just the pension.
The OAP is $849,au a fortnight in Thailand.

4 weeks in Chiang Mai - I've just picked one up. Haven't heard from anyone applying for one in the last few days, so perhaps it's improved. The office hours certainly have - 6am to 8pm now.
As an aside, last time I got one it was 2 weeks; not about 2 weeks, they told you to come back in 14 days. This time I got a slip to return in 30 days at 5pm when I declined the 'express service'. Perhaps there weren't enough people willing to pay for the sake of 2 weeks, but whatever the reason for it, it has doubled.
At ,east you get one ,Kanchanaburi dont issue them period, same they refuse to do 90 day reports on line

And we wonder why these clowns cant make money when its run by idiots,,,

If not resolved soon I can see a big hole in the Thai economy from all the expats leaving. Having a beer with a mate the other day he uses pension + super top up to live a decent lifestyle but to put 800,000 in Thai bank, no siree I'll just go back to Oz
Have to agree, why would anyone pull 800,000 baht out of a super fund usually getting 7% plus and put it in a thai bank and get what 1 1/2---2% interest..

A low-cost foodcourt and a few restaurants that weren't in Pattaya before are the highlights I've spotted so far. All else seems to be standard mall stuff.
So the foodcourt will be full of Russians and Chinese, great, just like Central plaza.

Can’t even get all Thai immigration offices to sing from the same hymn sheet, and play by the rules. What does that take? a few phone calls now that is a big joke.
Agree like trying to do 90 days reports on line, that some IO refuse to do and getting a certificate of residence that they also refuse to do,

Well most other Airlines are flying A320’s or B737’s o these short routes to Guangzhou or similar distances.
B 747’s where built for long haul flights and not little hops.
I remember a pilot friend of mine once explained to me when he saw that Thai was using B747’s between BKK and CNX - 55 minutes flying time - what enormous strain every take off and landing puts on these huge planes.
And it makes a huge difference on the lifespan / maintenance cost / insurance of these planes if they did 1000’s when used long haul or 10000’s of take off’s and landings when used short haul.
I remember the days when you got on a flight and you had 3 or 4 seats to yourself to stretch out - just does not happen anymore with all the code sharing - a 747 with 97 pax that sounds like the 80’s!
Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile appThey carry 45,000 ltres of fuel and use 1/4 of it on takeoff, bit of a waste on short haul.
