  1. I dont really see any big :Welcome to Thailand" signboard in this 10 year visa for the average "good"  person that just want to relax in Thailand on a normal retirement budget and still spend good money for the benefit of Thailand. Also the 90 day rule without a chance for internet based check-in instead of wasting a day in some Immigration office is very old fashioned.

I have stayed and been running a business in Thailand for over 7 years now with Work permit and Visa done and its still more difficult for me to get the papers done and approved than getting a Schengen visa for my Thai girlfriend when we go to Denmark to visit family. If the Thai immigration had a nationwide Computer system and  a internet self service they would be very much in control like in the EU and it would be great for us people that have chosen Thailand as a long term destination.

So If Thailand really want to benefit from long stay tourists and business people and companies that want to open subsidiaries there is only one way: Make it easier for us !

  2. Finally a good job, what any European police force would have done within the first week of such events being pulled of on public road. In my dreams I could see the laws of traffic being in forced in the same way on all roads in Thailand now matter if you are speeding in an overloaded truck or an expensive Benz.... Ohh I just woke up and realize that I was indeed dreaming

And by the way my advice as a lifetime motorcycle enthusiast driving everyone crazy when I was a teenager: Give the youngest with gasoline in the blood somewhere to do what they love in a safe way (at least for the public). Many of them are good kids but need somewhere to go where some adults with the same interest can guide them a bit in a way they understand.

  3. Running a branch of a forighn company in Thailand is too complicated and the uncertainty in legal matters are a showstopper for many companies to start operation in Thailand.

Thailand would gain considerably it they:

1: Gave the right to a foreign company to own a branch in Thailand.

    2. Gave foreign companies proper legal protection of their Intellectual property rights.

In for example the renewable energy sector Thai university's are doing reverse engineering on forighn technology and as a foreigner your odds in the legal system are easy to overlook.

  4. This is not on a problem only related to VW. Fact is that EU and California standards requires engines to Run so lean in fuel/air ratio that they do not perform probably. It is very common for cars and motorcycles to have a special lean = low pollution setting in the ECU (fuel injection controller) at the load or rpm range where they are tested on the different markets. That's also why there is a big market for aftermarket ECU's that changes the fuel/ air ratio and make cars and motorcycles much more smooth in power delivery. So the issue is that the good old engine technologies are pushes to the limit to fulfill increasing demands for low emissions.
