  1. Check the Law firm that is Heavily Advertised here on this site. I can't refer you to anyone. but the good reputable firms are easy to find and quite "out there" to easiy see and find.

I and several expats I know have used them and are more than satisfied.

It is worth it if you can't get results yourself quickly or in good time.

Common Expat problems, such as yours are normal everyday procedures for these Law Firms.

    Best of Luck

  2. A Tourist Visa is Not a Good idea for Long Term.

You Can Not do Long Term Visa Runs in Thailand. Immigration can and does Deny Re-Entry at their Discretion.

Especially to Long Term Visa Runners.

Check with the Thai Embassy/Consulate in your area of your Home Country about Retirement Visa for "Retired over 50 years of age" and provisions for your Wife to stay in conjunction with your Retirement Visa.

Read the Visa rules on the Thai Embasssy/Consulate's Web Site.

Other sources of proper advice on Visa's would be thru a Legal Service here in Thailand. (You can find some reputable Law Firms that Advertise).

Do Not Buy a Bike at First. Rent if you need to.

Driving in Thailand is Very Dangerous. Especially on Motorcycles.

Consider Owning a Car, and possibly a Motorcycle for close in town trips.

Once you are here and take the time to properly evaluate the Chiang Rai area, Driving and your needs, then decide what is best for you.

Best to plan to rent a Car and/or a Motorcycle at first.

Be sure you and your wife both have Valid Driver Licenses from your Home Country that do not expire soon, and also a Fresh International Driver License. You will need Both to Legally Drive in Thailand. (Your License and IDL must have endorsemtns for a Motorcycle/Scooter for you to legally ride a Motorcycle here).

  3. Have a Double Entry Tourist Visa that was Extended 30 days at Chiang Rai Immigration and told I would still receive my Second Entry when Re-Entering.

i crossed the Boarder from Chiang Kong into Laos and Re-Entered at Chiang Kong.

The Immigration officer said my Visa was used up by the 30 day Extension on the First Entry.

The Officer said I must only stay 60 days, then cross the Boarder and activate my Second Entry, then Extend only ONCE.

My Visa use by date is still Valid.

Today I was only given the 2 week Entry from the Immigration Officer at Chiang Kong.

I know the Officer is incorect in his Interpretation of the rules, but we all know, it is Up To the Officer and No Point Arguing even tho Chiang Rai Immigration Office said I could re-enter and activate the Second Entry as most persons do.

BTW: I am decently dresssed, not dirty, and presenting myself as a normal human being.

    Any Options ?

  4. Sadly this Pro-Coup video has a lot of propaganda and does not tell the whole story.

The producers would have been better off to not focus so much on the Coup and Propaganda that everything now is fine without including the continued Anti-Coup Protests,

They should have included the mountains of proof and more on events and situations that lead to the Coup such as Thaksin and the PTP admitting they are in control of the Country and Controlled from Overseas and "Run by Thaksin".

  5. The Western World has said many times that Elections are not always "Free and Fair".

    Prime examples recently are:

    North Korea

    Crimea (Ukraine)

    and now Syria

The Western World needs to look at their support of other Countries where "Elections are Not Free and Fair". Syria is the example of the day where Elections took place, but are now "Criticized for being a Sham".

Thailand could very well be one of those Countries where Elections need to be "Reformed" first before having another "Sham Election".

Unfortunately it seems sometimes the end to dictatorship and mismanagement has to be tackled by other means to bring about reforms before "Sham Elections".

Thailand was hopelessly at a "Deadlock" and the Thai Government and People were being manipulated and controlled by "Outside Influences" (admitedly by the Perpetrator of this Manipulation and Control from outside the Country and by the Thai Government Party in Power).

The Threat of continued and/or Escalated Violence was a real threat without Intervention.

  6. Another fine picture of the leadership attributes of the current Government.

The Sympathy seeking Poo and her enterage of Brown Nosers doing everything except taking care of the serious problems currently facing the Country.

Several weeks in a wheelchair for a sprained ankle is pushing the envelope of recovery quite a bit. passifier.gif

Maybe she should be in a Hospital bed Recovering instead of out galavanting around doing those necessary tasks of checking on Fish Tanks etc with all those Brown Nosing Boyz from the Government who need to be seen with Poo ? emot-kiss.giflicklips.gif

  7. Thailand will not learn to respect Conservation without Abusers having Huge Fines levied for Waisting Water Resources and Incentives for Conservation.

Just take a look at the upcoming Sonkran Festival. The Thai Authorites actually promote and encourage the all out water waisting madness for several days, if not weeks in some places.

And this Promotions of waisting water during a Drought time makes no sense.

Thai people don't care unless it hits them in the wallet

  8. No big surprise.

The U Turn Pub is in the midst of that whole area that is infamous for Late Night Clubs and Bars just north-west of Central Shopping Mall in Chiang Rai.

That area is frequented by thousands of young locals nightly.

Throwing bombs seems to be a new thing for young Thai's all over Thailand. It should be no surprise it happening in Chiang Rai where the Red Shirts are very active.

The bombs probably came from militant's stashes of weapons.

Blind eyes are turned on these establishments and the whole Local late night scene while the local authorities go out of their way to over regulate on the expat bars in the tourist area.

  9. Charlem has been overbearing and made some outright outrageous statements and accusations since being let off a leash and in a position of power at the CMPO.

There are far too many reasons he should be held accountable, but maybe there are not enough grounds to do anything other than this Deportation situation with Mr. Satish.

Might be that they have Charlem on a technicality regarding Satish

  10. Anyone who still thinks the man in Dubai does not have a unsatible lust for greed and power should think again.

His sights are on Thailand. He will stop at nothing to fulfill his megalomanic, narcissist ego and then some.

All at the expense of the Thai People and Country.

  11. The number of registered gun ownership or even illegal guns has not dramaticaly changed since the last coup so why cite it?

And why have so called leaders stated setting up the current government in Chiang Mai?

Idle threats? Maybe, but points of concearn for those effected or for those responsible for the Country's Security.

They need to get their agenda and "talking points' in order to be taken seriousely and not seen as just making idle comments and threats.

To continu on this path is a dangerous road alienating both thier own support and prompting others to come to a conclusion to defend against such unsupported comments.

  12. I lived for a number of years in central Bangkok. I left there 9 years ago and am so glad I did. Especially since 2010 and now with all the violence going on right in the areas where foreigners and tourists live and visit.

If I did still live there, I would probably be leaving Bangkok or would have left already.

I hav avoided going to Bangkok since the Songkron Riots and also recently since the protests.

In late December I had to go to Bangkok at the US Embassy there. I had tried to plan my trip around all the protests schedules, but I too was caught up exiting the Embassy right into the middle of a big PDRC protest. Fortunately this was just before the major violence had started. However, I had to walk all the way from the Embassy to Soi Nana. All of Wireless and Sukhumvit was full of protesters on parade who were non-violent.

In the past, never in my wildest dreams did I consider such protests would be in these areas. I was wrong.

Now violence and confrontaions occur on a regular basis in the main areas of Bangkok where expats and tourists freequent.

And I see most expats that do live there now are in denial of everything going on around them.

Bangkok is not the happy safe place it used to be.

The 2006 coup and Airport closure were walks in the park compared to the present situation.

Things can and do suddenly and unexpectidly happen there now.

But even outside Bangkok can become a powder keg if things continue on there present course.

  13. She is just taking care of some of Poo Chai's business.

Taking care of the Drug Problems. (seen this before)

    And Pollution/Smoke/Haze.

Big Windmills for expensive electrical power all over the hills and mountain tops whose expense and profits can be exploited.

  14. The Reds hope the Military stays in their barracks and the PCRD knows the Military will come out when the Malitia absolutely has no choice.

Unfortunately the wrighting is on the wall.

The Military stands for the Thai people's lives and welfare. Albeit not their prosperity.

They will defend the Kingdom from Civil War and Destrction to the best of their ability.

They do have the weapons, soldiers, and mandate of their mission to defend the Thailand. As well as the underlying support and loyalty of the majority Thai people to protect Thailand.

Even if it means defending Thailand from Violence and Civil War by opposing groups within the Country.

Of course within all of this are those within the Militia that will have Greed for Power and Money.

The violent attacks and threats from the opposing groups only reduces the current caretaker government's ability to remain in office without being ousted by a coup.

You have your thinking way wrong.

The reds are acting on Thaksins orders and he desperately wants a coup to be able to say his proxy Govt has been overthrown.

Then he will bring the reds out to oppose the army but not directly, they will go for soft targets and the army will have no chance, look what is happening in the south and translate that to the whole country.

Yes I have posted that before but there are those who just cant get it through their heads.

PTP and the Shins do not want a coup and lose their power. They are fighting like hell to maintain it.

The Shins will have no chance of regaining power if overthrown. The members of the PTP yes, but the Shins, No.

Once the Coup is done, everything about future governments starts from scratch again. It is similar to PDRC's plan to establish a comittee, except the Military will decide who makes the decisons and also re-writes the constitution etc. That certainly will not be those opposed to the military's mandate.

If there is a coup, they will say they were undemocraticaly overthrown.

Sure there is a possability of internal conflict. No one can say for sure.

  16. I was thinking of coming to Thailaned in June. Anyone think this is a bad idea now? I've read this forum for months

and it always seems like Thailand is on the brink of civil war if you read some of the posts, but my Wife says it will

    never happen. Any thoughts?

Many expats, tourists, and business people are still here.

No one has a Crystal Ball to forsee the Future, and June is still a long way off and things could change either way in an instant.

It is unwise to think things can not get bad, but have eyes and ears open just in case.

For the most part, people are not currently fleeing the Country.

At the moment, most of us avoid protest sites and unfortunately Bangkok where daily disruptions to normal life and traffic flow is a ongoing problem.

Most of the rest of Thailand is basicaly uneffected other than previous blockages of major Highway traffic in some areas by protesting farmers.

You should not put off plans, but have a back out plan if needed.

  17. It is good that the RTP are finally confronting this problem and all the obstructions.

It is a bit too late now and especially with the Beligerant Fool of the CMPO wearing his "Red Shirt" today and spouting off threats as usual.

Hardly Diplomatic trying to resolve the issues at hand using his tactics of Threats and Heavy Handedness by having the Riot control Police armed with Assault Weapons and Shotguns.

All this probably got the attention of the Malitia and YS knew her term would be up for sure today if Mr C carried on.

As well as any future charges for excessive use of force by the Government under her Premiership.

The Government can not hope to regain control with those 2 baffoons running the show.
