  1. Nice report and some good photos as well :D - I'm pretty jealous.

I think you posted a while back with another long road trip on the Wave didn't you? My original plan when I came here was to ride the entire country on a Honda Wave but the plan never materialised. Maybe when the current job finishes...

    Thanks Johnny :D

Yeah I rode the Wave from Pattaya to Chiang Mai. Also from Pattaya to Koh Chang. The biggest down side is the small fuel tank, 3.7 liters. I've run her down to where the fuel guage needle was resting on the stop pin -way below "E"- but the most I ever refilled was 3.2 liters. Maybe in a pinch I coulc do 200 kMs on a tank, but that would really be stretching it...

Thanks for sharing a wonderful story. The photos are nice too! I am lucky and have many bikes, big to small. Have rode them all, all over Thailand including many 1 day Chiang Mai to Pattay trips on wave 100's and 125's. Sure I can use my Ninja or CBR but some times the little bike is easier to use. I would rather use my Wave or PCX than the D Tracker to Pattaya, my butt is killing be after 100 km. A few weeks back I rode with a group of 75 bikes on a 320 km loop. Many were afraid of their big bikes or crassing on their 2,000,000 Bt ducati. They were amazed I could keep up or ahead of most on my HOnda PCX125. I simply said "we know my bike isn't better or more powerful, so it must be the rider!" Any bike is better than no bike. Have fun, don't be afraid, get out there and use it, what every you ride. Isn't that part of the reason we live here in Thailand is to ride more ?

  2. You should get about 70km/l for the Wave 110 and 55km/l for the Wave 125. Sorry, not sure about the Spark.

But the 110 has a tiny fuel tank so you will be topping up a lot especially if you run it at the max speed. if you are going to get one get the 125 or 135 they are also more stable at the higher speeds.

The wave 110 is rated at 3.7 L tank and honda claims 57 km/l

The wave 125 is rated at 4.0 L tank and I can not find a claim they make for fuel mileage.

So both should go about the same 200 km per tank I would hope. My wifes 2010 Mio 125 GT only gets 35 km/l and a dismal top spped of 88km/h that is why I am worried ot get another Yamaha. I was hoping someone with real life experance with one of these models could help shed some real world real life expereances on the topic

    Thanks

  3. First I would say find another Honda shop. It is a quick easy fix. 5 minutes max.

The rivets, as you say, on my CBR are little plastic snap units. you can order and do yourself

Yes you can go to Home Pro or Global house, or any of a number of aftermarket bike custom shops and get other screew and nut fasteners.

To be extra sure it never happens again, also can ad a few little spots of silicone between the wind screen and bike faring. Never rattle again, ever.

  4. I am all for riding but way too often see someone way over there head. Ninja 1000's are avalable here new but closer to 650,000 Bt. and keep that to the experts, or complete idiots.

With the Fino go down and get your motorbike license. Only takes a few hours and is aobut 160 Bt I think. A used CBR150 is a very nice bike and can be had for 30,000 Bt - 40,000 Bt. Sounds your more the sport bike type than the crusier type of rider. I have a CBR150 and it gets 45 km/l and has a top speed of about 142 km/h. I have taken mine all over Thailand 2 up. Parts and service are easy to find in any village or town. IF you really have some riding skills, new CBR150's are about 80,000 Bt while the CBR250 is a good bike and avalable for just over 100,000 Bt. The Kawasaki D Tracker 250 is a wonderful city bike, and excelent Twisty mountain road bike. Kinda tall if you are short, And if you plan any cross country trips this bike is not for you, your butt will be screaming after just 100km. The Kawasaki Ninja 250 is closest to your BAD Ninja 1000. It cost about 150,000Bt. I have taken mine all over Thailand even some 1300km days (Trat to Chiang Mai) This bike is easy to ride, quick, gets decent fuel economy and is faster than 99% of what is out there on the road.

Be smart, be safe, be careful, have fun

  5. Time to get my next new toy. Been looking at the new 2011 Honda waves as well as the Yamaha 135 of the same type

The bike will be used 95% in town daily driving. 5% road tips and I mean far 2000 - 5000 km road trips at a time

Does anyone have one of these newer Fuel injected units ? and what is the true top speed and mpg or km/l that you get

I would also maybe consider the yamaha spark 135 I think they call it with water cooling and 4 valve head I think

Thanks for any help, the shops always give you pie in the shy answers

  6. I have flipped here for over 8 years. Yes it can be done. Yes you should have a good idea about Thailand, and the Thai systems. I do much of the work myself, and started as a side job. I have never lost. When you ad in rentals while I was waiting for it to sell, I have always made a profit. Do learn before you do. I have over 30 years of construction expereance. 10 in Asia. A good place to start is most banks have forclosures for sale at low prices and you offer them even less. You can do houses to, even though they say "can not". Remember if you turn a home before 5 years you will pay and extra 5% at transfer to the government as "Investment" tax I was told.

    Good luck !

  7. I will be happy to sell you a J Costa variator and/or a J Costa exhaust.

I had Honda install a J Costa variator. Is it faster, yes and no. In some cases it is and in others not, my top end is now 119 km/h were before it was 109 km/h tops The down side is I was getting 45 - 50 km/l and now it is way down to 35. In the end it wasn't worth the cost to me, but you will have to decide.

Isn't this why most of us should "settle for Honda and Yamaha engineering"? The reason I tested my friend's stock PCX against my Yamaha Nouvo Elegance instead of renting a Costa variator equipped PCX from the owner of Nunn Massage is I had this deep seated feeling in my guts that the fuel economy of the PCX would suffer enormously and that for this reason only a very small percentage of PCX owners would want to sacrifice this kind of fuel economy for a little more power. From what you are telling us for 6 miles an hour increased top end you are reducing your fuel economy roughly 30 %.

Before I was able to top out at 109 km/h now it can at some times, very flat or down hill, go up to 119. And up hill it does not slow down quite as much, but is it worth the loss of MPG or km/l ??? not to me, not when it is this much. I live in Chiang Mai and have rode it to Nong Khai, Khon Kean, BKK, and more, I wished for a little more top end, but not at this cost. Now my Honda CBR150 that goes 142 km/h get better MPG at 45 km/l my PCX gets the same as my D tracker now. SO think twice about the J Costa. The second modifcation will be to reinstall my stock one and sell second had my J Costa Variator

  8. Actually My condo unit is in Pattaya-- in a very nice area near the beach. As I said --there are around 50% sold and completed inside--over the five years. That seems 100% better than three other new projects with in a few hundred meters of mine--that have been built nearly as long-- but don't seem to have any residents at all yet!! Maybe the sales rate is better in bangkok--but. there is no way I could live there, because of the air pollution.

As Pattaya gets more and more built or should I say over built. Why anyone thinks more and more will keep selling. In my condo in Pattaya, it is 100% sold and was from when it was completed 14 years ago. In Chiang Mai. I know of no condo with under 90% sold. Either yours and others are overpriced, or it's over priced and they made enough selling the few to make the payments.

  9. As a Condominium developer here in Chiang Mai, everyone here seems to have a part of the equation.

a.) When was it built ?

b.) Type of roofing and air space if any ?

    c.) Direction unit is facing

    d.) insulation if any

e.) window area and type of glass used

    f.) location of building

Also please note as an investment, higher floors demand higher rents and resales values

  10. I can hear some of the comments already, however I am having some

    trouble.

1.) I have a Non B visa and work permit

2.) I have been in Thailand for some time

3.) I want to marry my GF (don't worry, not bar girl nor young)

Went to the local Amphor and they say they need copy passport (no problem)

Visa, (again no problem) and a divorce decree from my country This is a big

problem since I have never been married.

Do I need to fly to Vegas have a quickie drive through wedding and get

divorced the next day and get the document needed ?

What is this "Eligibility to marry affidavit" and how do I get it ?

I want a true legal marriage so she is entitled to any benefits should I

    die.

  11. In Chiang Mai, like Pattaya, there is now alot of condo building going on. You can find some under 1m Bt. but the room size is very small in the 25 sqm - low 30's sqm As a per sqm price goes, hard to find anything new under 35,000 Bt a sq.m and most now are in the mid to upper 40's per sq.m and some even more.

  12. I think technically you are supposed to have it with you at all times.. That being said, I've found it beneficial not to have it with me. If questioned, "its at the hotel" will get you out of a problem or two.....

Agree with above but I do carry around my Thai drivers license. Some ID would be a good idea.

Thai drivers license has your Passport information on it. I have not carried my passport in years

  13. I will be happy to sell you a J Costa variator and/or a J Costa exhaust.
