  1. I taught at a Thai U for several months. In each of my seven classes, there was at least one katoy, some classes had two, one had three. I see an increasing number of young 'boys' being influenced by older kids / pee chai / TV shows, etc, and becoming effeminate. Thailand must certainly be the 'hub of effeminate men.' I'd estimate over 10% of school boys are headed that direction. Call me old-fashioned, but I don't think it's a good trend, or even liberating.

Maybe just coincidence; but every Thai college gal who screws around for extra income, has a katoy acting as an agent. Actually, it's not coincidence, but rather a natural role for effeminate men to fill.

  2. Next time try taking out your mobile and taking a picture of him and his name on his shirt then put the phone down your pants and smile. At least if you have to pay you will get a hand job out of the deal. hahhaa

i did this once hahaha (apart from the pants and hand job), they stopped me at the top of Thonglor, normally i don't stop but this one jumped in front of the car, I did what i do, I locked my doors and lowered the window about one inch, I asked why I had been stopped and he replied 'phone' I said I wasnt on my phone so we went backwards and forwards with him repeating phone and me repeating no, then he changed it to 'licence' to which I repeated no. then an older one came over and tried the same, 'phone' then 'licence. eventually he accepted i wasnt using my phone so changed it to 'u turn'. Then he went back to 'licence' so I showed it through the window opening, he asked for it and I refused, then I got my phone and took his picture so he ran to the front of his car, got his phone and took my picture, he now somewhere has my picture with my thumbs up and a big shit eating grin. i was then told off for living in Thailand a long time and not speaking to him in Thai.

anyway to cut a long story short eventually I asked if he was from Thonglor or Makasan, i picked up my phone and said i will call my friend at the station he said, gave his name and lo and behold it seemed after all no offences had been committed and I was on my merry way.

the moral of the story is to know a senior officers name, and secondly delay them as long as possible as it means other easier targets are passing them buy so its costing them money.

Before the normal 'you are dicing with death' and 'they are only doing their jobs' well i will say i have been here 7 years and never had any comebacks, I do it in a pleasant polite manner, and secondly if I was indeed on my phone or have done something wrong I will take the ticket to the station and pay the fine. if they try to stitch me up I never succumb to it. Do all this while maintaining a friendly non threatening air about you.

ok, now cue the abusive posts calling me an arsehol_e etc coffee1.gif

  3. Man, I think that the proper way of dealing with this guys is to follow the example that Myanmar is giving us right now, I mean how many childs, monks, teachers , common persons and soldiers must to get kill before somebody do something really effective, I mean , if they see themselves as malays then kick them out to the sea, nobody is forcing them to live here.

Do you find it painful on your knuckles whilst walking?

  4. 'Police patrols will be reinforced in areas most frequented by tourists such as beaches and city centers' ...........when I read this, the first thing that sprang into my mind was the memory of watching the Thai police act as negotiators/enforcers for the pond life character renting out jet ski's and scamming innocent people of their holiday money in Puket,,,,,that Big Trouble in Thailand thing .......oh, and the police execution of that Canadian guy in Pai and the attempted cover up by local cops ........anybody out there have more stories?

  5. I a test, down by Thai scientist during Mark govt (by Ministry of Science Khunying something), this devise has been proven to be 20% effective.

I.e. trusting this devise would have save 20 lives out of 100 killed by Muslim terrorist in the south.

    I say this is priceless.

There has been no other equipment which can beat this 20% record.

So i say, Thai army should buy more.

"Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban has tried to reassure MPs that the GT200 is not like the ADE651: "We use a different brand," he said. "

Pornthip Rojanasunand, Director of the Central Institute of Forensic Science, also defended the use of the GT200 devices, claiming that they were effective when searching for bombs and even nails under water. She said: "I do not feel embarrassed if the bomb detector is proven ineffective. Personally, I have never handled the device myself. But my people have used it and it is accurate every time. Long long time ago, people believed that the Earth is flat and anyone who said otherwise faced execution. Things which are not visible does not necessarily mean they do not exist. The devices are there and no one has the right to ban their use. I will continue to use it."
