  1. Wise words and aligns with my thinking. There is no such buyer that wants such a thing and so it has no real value in the real world in the absence of the greater fool. That said my wife seems to think a pig's head, pineapples, assorted fruit and joss sticks may spur the land spirits to bring in a new owner.
  2. Nope, we won't my wife is divesting assets now for cash. We sold a studio condo in Hat Yai last year and the last thing we want is any more immovable difficult-to-shift assets. We are taking her there in the new year though to sort out her name on the deeds and talk to some agents. I suspect most won't be interested in bothering. Her sister will be looking probably to borrow against this as it's the only thing of value that she owns but my missus will do her usual tough love. The family bank is closed.
  3. My wife's sister has inherited about 1/3 of a rai of land near Hat Yai airport. it is reached by a dirt road of about 300m connected to a paved road and has electricity via poles but no water connection or sewerage. Looking at the Land Office map there seem to be loads of small parcels of land all in the jungle. She seems to think that land is worth about 5 million a rai in this area so would give a nominal value of around 1.5 -2 million. I can't see why anybody would want to buy this land - a big developer would be looking for large plots next to existing facilities and small pockets are of no real use to them and there is no developed neigjbour who would want to add this to their footprint. So the only value I can see is it has some value for someone rich enough to buy up cheap land for their own landbank and would only do so if it was very cheap. Am I roughly right in my thinking and what would be a very cheap 0.5 of a mill maybe? I suspect she won't want to accept a price that isn't aligned with her current thinking and so will never sell and therefore has no actual value. Or is it a bit like Bitcoin but a tangible asset in and of itself?
  4. Quite the rant isn't it with a poor grasp of capitalization - the only thing missing is green ink.
  5. The shocking news is sufficient Americans could vote him into the role of President and that ain't changing whatever the outcome. The democratic system is failing because the country is failing the people. Trump is a symptom, not the cause. There is much trouble ahead.
  6. Are you a professional troll or just someone who attracts trouble?
  7. They are mostly minding their own business and keeping themselves to themselves and hassling no one that I have seen. Good advice if you want to stay in Thailand long term. Overseas beefs are best kept there.
  8. It is the right decision but this has the potential to get nasty really quick if he weaponises his many followers to start hassling local and national representatives and legislatures which he will. Time for the deep state if it ever exists to dust off the golden trigger document for use in an emergency.
  9. No he's just a very talented freelancer who can be trusted but you would no doubt lose your service history for resale if you go off piste.
  10. I follow on X Trump History which is a humourous channel which creates AI pics of Donald intervening at important times of world history. He has become a meme now that is influencing younger voters to think that supporting him is cool.
  11. He killed Move Forward, he killed Pheu Thai and enabled the army and their followers to cling to power and he gets his freedom in return. Sounds like a good deal for them and him. Once the big family get their coming reboot it will be just like old times again until the next crisis.
  12. On Spike Milligan's grave is the inscription in Galeic I told you I was ill!
  13. Whose going to tell the Zuck about Steve Jobs !
  14. Have a spy around his property... https://www.google.com/maps/@22.213089,-159.3707699,340m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en-GB&entry=ttu
  15. Lisa is almost 112 now as far as Thais are concerned -my wife will get angry if I try to suggest she's not as good as she thinks she is! She is appearing at Siam Paragon to open a store tomorrow apparently. So avoid the area! Carabao and Milli are probably their best export hopes.
  16. We have used this guy in a mall stall near Victory Monument for years - he did a Cartier and Zenith that weren't working and restored them to full condition. He's been doing watches for 40 years and my wife has used him for 30. Expect to pay 4-6 k assuming you don't get Farang taxed. The missus always goes to see him leaving me watching from afar.
  17. Looks like Lisa will have to do a lot of heavy lifting assuming she would ever want the role.
  18. Looks like the Thai rattaban have paid some baht to international marketing consultants to produce a report on the way forward no doubt using ChatGpt to add to the word salad. That picture doesn't give me much hope that this would lead anywhere useful and is just a rehash of what is already going on.
  19. It's the hope that kills you in the end and falang thinking that it could all be sorted out. The Sea Horse Ferry has died as well. The dead hand of corruption poisons everything it touches in the end and kills innovation.
  20. I'm intersted in this as well as my wife has a lot of cash on account at the moment having sold a condo and gold and this account - stingy as it is seems to the best safe option.
  21. Pattaya just now 161 on the AQI results. We come here Dec - Feb for the 'cooler' season to our condo and have been doing so for years. But it is seemingly no longer cooler and this stinking, filthy air has finally crossed the line for me. It will never get better, the authorities will blather away but the levers that they have don't work. Europe for all it's faults dealt with air pollution decades ago - Asia never will. You would think the rich Thais who have numerous properties and lifestyles would want their "in their pockets" governments to do something about poor farmers and the like who are crapping all over their rich entitled world, but the dysfunction must run deep because it never gets solved only worse. I guess for Indian and other Asian countries they know no better so this filth is an improvement as they do their tourism stuff. So they probably neither notice nor care. Same with the 3-week 'millionaire' sex tourist. TAT's new advertising slogan should be Thailand - Cheap for a Reason
  22. There's a world that could have evolved without the bagpipes and that would have been a better world but it didn't happen. Sadly. If you must play please keep the volume low.
