  1. It was a publicity stunt for some noodles that Jay Fai is promoting. Hence Lisa did a song called Money , the national religion of Thailand. Drop some money, dropping all my money Drop some money, all this bread so yummy, yeah Drop some money, dropping all my money Drop some money, all this bread so yummy, yeah My money moves, money, I choose Celine, my shoes, walking on you My money rules My money moves, money, I choose Watch how my Wons and Yens and Dollars be dropping on you, you, you
  2. Mai bpen rai - no pboblem , only falang likes to go outdoors too much.
  3. Born of 1/2 million litres of Chang + 1000 Cheap Charlie' Big Breakfasts. Great chair though.
  4. He killed Move Forward, he killed Pheu Thai and enabled the army and their followers to cling to power and he gets his freedom in return. Sounds like a good deal for them and him. Once the big family get their coming reboot it will be just like old times again until the next crisis.
  5. On Spike Milligan's grave is the inscription in Galeic I told you I was ill!
  6. Whose going to tell the Zuck about Steve Jobs !
  7. Have a spy around his property... https://www.google.com/maps/@22.213089,-159.3707699,340m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en-GB&entry=ttu
  8. Lisa is almost 112 now as far as Thais are concerned -my wife will get angry if I try to suggest she's not as good as she thinks she is! She is appearing at Siam Paragon to open a store tomorrow apparently. So avoid the area! Carabao and Milli are probably their best export hopes.
  9. We have used this guy in a mall stall near Victory Monument for years - he did a Cartier and Zenith that weren't working and restored them to full condition. He's been doing watches for 40 years and my wife has used him for 30. Expect to pay 4-6 k assuming you don't get Farang taxed. The missus always goes to see him leaving me watching from afar.
  10. Looks like Lisa will have to do a lot of heavy lifting assuming she would ever want the role.
  11. Looks like the Thai rattaban have paid some baht to international marketing consultants to produce a report on the way forward no doubt using ChatGpt to add to the word salad. That picture doesn't give me much hope that this would lead anywhere useful and is just a rehash of what is already going on.
  12. It's the hope that kills you in the end and falang thinking that it could all be sorted out. The Sea Horse Ferry has died as well. The dead hand of corruption poisons everything it touches in the end and kills innovation.
  13. The Krunsri angle was discussed here.
  14. I'm intersted in this as well as my wife has a lot of cash on account at the moment having sold a condo and gold and this account - stingy as it is seems to the best safe option.
  15. Pattaya just now 161 on the AQI results. We come here Dec - Feb for the 'cooler' season to our condo and have been doing so for years. But it is seemingly no longer cooler and this stinking, filthy air has finally crossed the line for me. It will never get better, the authorities will blather away but the levers that they have don't work. Europe for all it's faults dealt with air pollution decades ago - Asia never will. You would think the rich Thais who have numerous properties and lifestyles would want their "in their pockets" governments to do something about poor farmers and the like who are crapping all over their rich entitled world, but the dysfunction must run deep because it never gets solved only worse. I guess for Indian and other Asian countries they know no better so this filth is an improvement as they do their tourism stuff. So they probably neither notice nor care. Same with the 3-week 'millionaire' sex tourist. TAT's new advertising slogan should be Thailand - Cheap for a Reason
  16. There's a world that could have evolved without the bagpipes and that would have been a better world but it didn't happen. Sadly. If you must play please keep the volume low.
  17. Where's the switch the country on/off button for USA? Oh yes it's civil war - just in time for the hot movie release of 2024.
  18. If it's either or in the final run-off I vote for Trump in that he might just usher in world peace and there won't be a dull moment and I'm naturally a Labour left-wing anti-Brexit liberal woke kind of guy. If we are at the end of the Empire, empires must crumble stage of Western civilisation at least go out with a bang rather than a senile rambling into nothingness whimper. this is how the great American experiment ends with a narcissistic, huckster showman who lept over the entrenched political class with a cavalcade of lies and won the vote. Ponzi on his deathbed said to a reporter "Even if they never got anything for it, it was cheap at that price. Without malice aforethought, I had given them the best show that was ever staged in their territory since the landing of the Pilgrims! It was easily worth fifteen million bucks to watch me put the thing over."
  19. Daily Telegraph has waded in for the Don - everybody likes a winner. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/12/13/only-donald-trump-can-save-the-free-world-now/ In Europe, meanwhile, Trump is primarily remembered for his constant hectoring of its leaders for not paying their fair share towards the continent’s defence, a criticism that remains as valid today as it did then. With several European countries, like Germany and France, seemingly more interested in cutting a deal with Moscow than giving Ukraine the military support it requires to defeat Russia, Trump’s return to global politics might help them to better understand where their true interests lie. Trump might not be the most appealing character in American politics, but he is not someone who is easily ignored. He might be just the person to give the West the jolt it needs to wake up to the very real threats it faces.
  20. It appears that the couriers are Thai rumoured to be connected to Chinese mafia. Back to bringing wads of cash through Heathrow. I have seen folks pulled up but you are by law allowed 10k each as long as you can prove it was legitly earned. That said on the Thai side they will be doubly alert looking for wads to seize/tax. On this trip we brought 5oz of gold we had bought back in UK a year ago from the Royal Mint - sold them at 69k an oz on Yaoworat Raod this week for nearly 350k cash. Thanks to Hamas we made a tidy profit but the transaction costs on either end are prohibitive if we hadn't had the great uplift in post prices.
  21. There is an underground money transfer service. I know it operates in London and agents go around Thai businesses on a weekly basis and take cash that appears within hours on their Thai bank accounts at close to the exchange rate. It is widely used as to how it works god only knows.
  22. If I was some pi yai in government reading this thread I would be more than satisfied that we were over the target. A previous poster who said their wife would go back to voting for the junta has a naive faith that they would reverse the direction of travel. They have found a huge amount of money untaxed and easily traceable in the digital age. Governments of whatever stripe are not going to be able to resist dipping into this pool.
  23. It's been a good run whilst it lasted. What will be will be arrange your affairs as best you can and then prepare for the hit. Will be a lot more forms and hassle though for what was painless before.
  24. Gold bars are always good as cash !
