Give flyer talk a look also.  In some of the threads there, there is some specific contact points to expedite the process.  I was looking there a few days ago for something else and saw a contact point where a Qatar Air rep could be contacted directly.  Sorry I can't remember the actual thread.

    https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar-airways-privilege-club-644/

I suspect I have been in contact with all qatar air reps they all agree that I should receive a refund but they seem to be reluctant to pay the money they owe me....The best way is to give them bad publicity but the media always side with big business, and an individual has to be careful because harrassment laws ie a company steals money nothing happens but if victim of said theft calls said company a bunch of thieves then he finds himself in court being accused of defamation and harrassment.

I do not have any need or intention to fly anywhere but I have let qatar know that I will consider flight tokens to the value of the money they owe me

  2. In nov 2021 we had to cancel our flight from ireland to Thailand . Qatar airways have still not given us a refund.

They continually change the goal posts concerning getting a refund. Qatar airways have a bangkok office which deals with refunds but they say they will not help us then they say they will help us then they say they will not.

When they say they will not help they give the reason that we booked in Ireland they say if we had booked in thailand they would help. They might change their minds again but at present they say we have got to do all comunications and legal dealings with their Doha qatar office.

Doha office sometimes say the reason why we have not received a refund is because we closed the bank account we used to pay for the ticket and they want papers from the bank where we closed the account. Said bank ignores my requests for said papers supposibly because my account is closed  and so the problem is nothing to do with them. I have told Qatar airways that my ex bank refuse to supply papers/info. After telling Qatar airways of the non co-operation on the part of my ex bank   qatar airways say it is ok we do not need said papers...

Then a few weeks later Qatat airways change their minds and say they do need the papers.........my problem is qatar airways main office is in Doha qatar and hence it is pointless starting legal action against them . However Qatar do have a large office in bangkok can I use said office to serve legal papers in order to try to get back the 100,000 baht qatatar airways owe me

  3. I have a few problems qatar airways do not want to refund the money they owe me. The flight which was cancelled was from dublin to bangkok. I have consulted an irish lawyer and he says he cannot do much because the airline is based qatar and therefore legal proceedings have to be instigated in Qatar hence said legal proceedings have very little chance

I suspect qatar airways will be less awkward if i ask for a replacement flight rather than the money. The money owed is 2600 euro (business class) so the problem is finding a destination which will allow my thai wife entry and will have a fare simmillar to the 2600 euro debt

  4. we are buying a new house which has a flat (slight slop ) roof ie there is no loft....it also has four lights to each room all lights being in the corners of the room.

I want a ceiling fan to be fitted in the centre of the lounge ceiling downstairs and in the centre of the main bedroom upstairs....of course in said locations there are no brackets to fit the new fan to, and no wires present which can be used for the fan  and there are no spare switches.

obviously it will be more difficult than normal ,,,,but is the job very difficult for a good electrical fitter

the people selling the house/s say there will be no problems but i do not believe them

What visa do you have that allows a 3 month stay?

If you have a valid visa a return or onward ticket is not required.

You seem to be an expert on most things thailand so let us have another go ...my wife is thai and we are intending to buy a condo ...how much will we save if we buy a thai registered condo in my wife's name

The covid 19 insurance must cover $100,000 for treatment if infected.

Hello again I have tickets leaving ireland to thailand 10 nov and return 6 feb this matches the 3 month visa which i have, but chances are the return ticket will not be used because I will get a marriage or retirement visa when I arrive. Now my flights are with qatar who will let me change the date for nothing or near to nothing. If I bring forward dep to 2 nov then my return will be after the 3 month deadline ...will immigration worry about a couple of days...ie should i change the date of the return trip even though i suspect it will not be used

  7. On thai visa own insurance policy it states covid 19 covered

I am still in ireland if I apply and pay for said insurance before I travel to Thailand will the policy count as acceptable to enter the country??  Or will I have to obtain another policy just for covid 19 cover

Before purchasing a condo, request a copy of the association's CC&Rs. You can make review and acceptance of the condo governing documents a condition of buying the unit, also known as a contingency. You or the seller usually must pay for a copy of the CC&Rs. Analyse the association's operating budget to ensure the condo is fiscally sound. If the condo is losing money due to current owners not keeping up with the dues, you may face special assessments as a future owner. Also, if you don't understand your responsibilities regarding the roof, or any other aspect of owning a particular condo, consult an attorney.

Should be careful with terms of lease in England barratt had a system that the top floor paid for the roof repairs and ground floor paid for drain repairs which was good for the people not on the top or bottom floor. Of course people will say it is a lawyers job to find these bad terms, but lawyers are very bad readers...best read the lease yourself

Why don't you talk to the committee member and also the building manager, and ask about any upcoming repairs, including paint and crack filling, etc.

do not ask the seller these because they will not tell the truth

I am thinking about buying a nordic condo in pattaya, but have seen a document with headline cracks in wall. I have asked for more details but have not received anything, the condo is one sep bedroom top floor 47 sq m for 1.8 m so the price is ok and looking at the pictures good tiles, good laminate good fixtures ...it does look well built

  10. I intend to transfer a few million baht soon but as a test i transfered 50 euro from ireland to my thailand bangkok bank ac and received only 1500 baht

The instruction to my irish bank was to transfer in euros so it was not european fex rates to blame, also i paid the irish bank fees in advance

The exchange rate was 38 baht to the euro which means i should have received 1900

I suspect bangkok bank have an extra add on fee of about 500 baht, which stays the same if you transfer 50 euro or 50,000 euro ...of course a charge of 500 baht when transferring 50 euro is a lot, but not a lot if you transfer  50,000 euro......please confirm

Not true. Have just been on vacation in Greece. For vaccinated no test and mostly open and normal everywhere. Many tourists at the tourist places.

have my visa ect ect and I have sold my house, but I want to delay my return to thailand. I was considering going on a greek island cruise with my wife 4-14 oct, but I believe if I do the cruise then when I return I will have to stay in Ireland for a few weeks as there are restrictions stopping people going to thailand if they have been on other travels in the previous few weeks.....have you heard of said rule

You can buy a condo in your name only but you cannot buy land in your name.

To buy a condo you have to prove that money was transferred from abroad. I suggest you look on this forum for info or do a post there. https://aseannow.com/forum/59-real-estate-housing-house-and-land-ownership/

Think it is about location in my area i can easily get 1.5 the value of what i paid for it originally. But then again a big shopping center and a sky train were build. Those were not there 15 years ago. Now its a far more desirable place. I think its often the luck of a draw how an area develops.

There is skill you can look at plans to extend the sky train and buy something which will have sky train service in a few years. Be careful though I bought a house in Hang Dong because an electric railway was planed ...but it was cancelled

    Enter visa exempt.

Your married to a Thai and over 50 so when in Thailand obtain a non O based on marriage or retirement at immigration.

That will give you 90 day stay. In that time organize financials for 12 month extension.

If you can afford it, personally I would stick 800k in Thai bank account in your name only never touch it and go the retirement route.

    Very simple for ongoing extensions.

Not a bad attempt however the best methodology would have been to answer the points in my original post. If I had not obtained contact with the embassy then I would have rejected the proper methodology and used yours instead. The Embassy (if contact is established) will do as I requested in my OP they will give clues as to how to make the process easier than what it seems when you read their guidelines

There have been reports on her that certain land offices refuse to issue usufructs  to foreigners  so  please check carefully at your land office before buying.

The person serving us in the land office did not know what an escro or a usufruct was I have to show them in a book and then they translated the pages into english and gave me a usufruct

Sure but did they say you did not have to do it?

But you said in the OP that you had sold your house so if it is done it is done and not an issue.

Only a damn fool would tell somebody else how much money they have.

    I am kii neow

No I do not consider it inappropriate but your attitude is.

Selling a house has nothing to do with your visa.

Completing all requested paperwork has everything to do with a visa. But you want to debate it instead of doing it.

How much money you have is irrelevant except that you have funds to qualify for the visa you want.

Choosing one of the several clear good options makes things easy but you prefer to focus on what you are unable to do.

The Thai Embassy has agreed with me that the requested paperwork was excessive especially as some of the requested items did not take into account possible tightening or relaxing of covid restrictions

selling my house has a lot to do with my visa if I get a visa immediately and do not sell my house for 3 months then the visa will expire before i am ready to go

The man at the thai embassy said the amount of money one has should be used to calculate the most suitable visa.

My attitude is not inappropriate is is appropriate but it is different from yours

You have the choice to apply for a single entry non-o visa based upon marriage to a Thai at the embassy. You would need to show the equivalent of 20k baht in a bank. No need for medical insurance to do the application.

Or you could enter visa exempt and then apply for non-o visa based upon marriage or retirement. For marriage you need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only and for retirement 800k baht on the day you apply.

You wife will not need the covid 19 insurance.

The Thai Embassy finally contacted me and it seems that I will be getting a 90 day non imm by way of being married to a thai. So now we come to another problem I have money and I intend to transfer most of it by way of a specialized currency exchange company. Now when I first went to Thailand said companies were not so common and bangkok bank gave a very good exchange rate. Now I will lose .2 baht for every euro i send over if i use bangkok bank. So if i send 300000 by currency exchange company and get a rate of 38.2 thai baht to the euro i will get 11,460,000 baht, but the same amount at bangkok bank rate 38 thai baht i will get  11400,000 ie I will lose the price of a small m/bike by way of paying extra to bangkok bank.

The obvious answer is do not use bangkok bank however I intend to buy a condo and land to build a house on and it seems i need a FET to show the seller ect and to get a FET the money has to be exchanged by way of Thailand Bank.

I suspect I could give my thai wife the money and she could buy the properties...but i do not want to
