dam_n good post. I live in the 4500 baht variety with free internet. What gets me is the tax on imports. I want to bring in a $219 office chair for my room. The airline will hit me with $175 oversize bag fee for it. And if customs stop me they will tack on an 80% tax in addition. I may be stuck with buying the same cheap arse 1200 baht Big C chair that broke on me in the first place.

Now go get a Thai girlfriend or wife with extended family and see how you do compared to Canada. In Canada the wife and family probably are self contained financially.

I wonder why the mule doesn't employ a another mule that not even the people she works for knows about to be on the plane and the first mule picks up her bag instead of her own. Must be loaded with time then. Because by the time you get to Mo Chit in a bus from DM you could have been in Pattaya by taxi. Spending an extra how many hours to save 600 baht/ Going from Australia to Israel in order to get to Bali; is it really worth it.

I guess you will have to wait until the next day and take the bus. How would you go from the new airport to Pattaya after hours? I live in Pattaya and I haven't found another way yet (apart from friends picking me up). I take Bell whenever I arrive or depart during the day and go upstairs and get a taxi for 900 baht when I arrive at night.

I'm much younger than 52 and I don't usually date women who are under 25, but I still don't think there is any special magic that happens all of a sudden when someone turns 18. I bought a motorbike at the auction in March. I am finally getting the book for it. In order to register it do I have to go back to immigration for another residency form? Do I get the bike inspected at the same place I do the registration? Is the closest place to Pattaya to do this the location that is about 20 miles down Sukhumvit towards Sattahip?

I do it in Pattaya. It just makes it easier for me seeing that I am not constantly in Thailand. Then too it is only 4500/month. I do not get any type of discount. At the place I was going to rent from before it was 5000/month and upon my inquiry the lady said she would give me a 5% discount if I paid 1 year in advance. However this lady and her farang husband were really in need. She said they owed the bank 5 million baht (Seems pretty low. Maybe she meant or said 50 million) on the 3 year old building but it was only 1/3 full.
