  1. How many people remember that DARLIE TOOTHPASTE was before the name change DARKIE TOOTHPASTE ? The name was sued here in Thailand up until about 2000.Ofcourse I had to buy several and give them to my black friends back in Texas.

Don't forget to take a couple of these with you to keep the maids happy.wink.png

When I first saw those mops in the store I was like what the <deleted> is this s?

  2. A shame that this happens so openly without care or concern for their own self esteem. Getting that new Samsung and fashion clothes are more important to thai girls now. Parents should be arrested as well as this happens due to their incompetence as parents and their unregulated control of their child. They are just as much to blame as that ladyboy.

They were doing it for new clothes and phones? What part of the article was that? I must have missed it. For all we know the 15 year old could have been an orphan and they were doing it for food and shelter.

  3. So sad for the deceased to have his life snuffed out by an irresponsible dirtbag. ID, of course, will get a slap on the wrist by the police after he apologizes to the family, and will be back on the road being an ID again pretty soon.

Yes one of those scumbags that drives against the traffic flow without regards of others. They really get to me at times, rather then going a bit further and take a U turn they drive against traffic. Real dangerous an other reason not to drive on the most left lane.

Just like yesterday when I went to make a left turn and there were vehicles parked on the corner that I could not see around. I made the left turn and lo and behold some young girl was driving the wrong way next to the parked vehicles. Luckily I was paying attention and was able to avoid a crash.

  4. Yet another one come all the way here to commit suicide,if he wanted to top himself why would the table be upside down, and also does he smoke? i think if he wanted to die he would have stayed in Sweden, much cheaper than a flight all the way here.

If he plans to kill himself then why would he need to worry about the cost of a flight? He won't have a use for the money after he does it.
  5. I am from Georgia USA and the gasoline here is more expensive than South Carolina USA and way cheaper than New York USA. The same reason why the same brand of French Cognac costs more in France than it does in the USA. You already said it: tax.

On the plus side, I bought a new Samsung phone from Tukcom a few months back for 3500 baht ($96). The next week when I went to my trusted computer store Microcenter in the USA the same phone was $149 (5300 baht).

  6. I know an American guy. He has a PhD. One would think he was pretty sharp.

Happened about 4 years ago that he fell for a Nigerian phishing scam. I only met him about 2 years ago.

He lost his house in the US somehow. Something about a 2nd mortgage so he could deposit a little bit of $$ to get a lot of $$$.

I just have fuzzy details, but that's the story I heard.

Not any of my business really, so I never pressed for full details.

Thing is that book smart and street smart are two different kind of smarts. For reference see Dr. Ben Carson.

  7. One born every day.

How can so many fall for a scam like this?

Another Nigerian slime bag. Why does Thailand let them in? Vietnam had the same problem for a few years when they came in under the guise of soccer players and ultimately they learned the hard way about their drug and prostitution rackets. They fixed it by rounding them all up and sending them packing never to return. Thailand never seems to learn from experience about anything.

Should they do the same with the Thai "slime bags"?

  8. A hurricane (CBR) for a 67 year old? You guys have got to be joking. Those bikes are for racing. I am 43 years old and have been riding for the last 30 years. I just got rid of my Ninja in the States for a Yamaha 1100 cruiser. Sports bikes are for young guys. They are hard on your back and your legs. I am talking about 20km of riding and ready to give up and rather walk kind of hard. At this age I want to sit back and relax, not have all kinds of cramps and aches from bending over. In Pattaya I have a simple Suzuki 125. There is no reason to have a lot of speed and power in a traffic-filled city. Plus because the bike is smaller, I am able to easily go around stopped traffic. If I was rich and had to do much highway driving like the OP stated, then I would go for the Honda PCX 150. Although super comfortable, I am not sure that bike would be as agile as the one I have now.

  9. Copy your passport, white entry card, and entrance stamp (maybe this step is only needed for driver's license, but I do it all at the same time every year). Get a copy of your lease or letter from place you are staying. Get 2 passport photos. Go to immigration and fill out the residency paperwork. When they call your number, give the guy your documents and pay the fee. I think 200 baht for each copy. Come back later to pick up. I do not know what city you are in, but I am in Pattaya. Go to the Department of Land and Transportation. Across there is an inspection station where you get the vehicle inspected for like 80 baht. Take that paper along with the green book (ownership papers) back across to DLT and go pay the insurance...

Come to think of it, whenever I register mine I never need any of this. I only go to the window with my green book and pay the insurance lady the fee (like 120 baht) and she gives me the receipt. I go to the other window with my greenbook and pay the guy for the registration. He gives me the paper and I walk upstairs to do my driver's license.

When I originally bought my bike at the auction the auction broker handled the initial registration and changing over paperwork. That was over 5 years ago. But the place you are buying the bike from should know what to do. Unless maybe you are buying from a private seller. I think you do need that residency thing to do the initial one though because I remember there being a box to check on the paperwork at immigration if you needed the certificate because you were buying a car or motorbike.

  10. When I attended burglary school, they taught us that you always check to see if someone is home before trying to break into a house. They said it was even better to case out a house prior to breaking in, to avoid getting killed. Guess this guy never attended the course. Who knows what would have happened once he landed, with the house occupants already there. Do burglars get any dumber? Hard to drum up much sympathy.

When was that, the 1920s? Talk about the old way of doing things. The new way is doing it while people are home.

  11. Well I am American (Black) and have been to over 100 countries. I usually do not get into the political thing. I think for the most part that works on a large governmental scale independent of individual citizens.

Only once have I experienced adversity because I was American. Back when Bush was president some friends and I were riding in a taxi down Suk Soi 3 in Bangkok. We happened to stop next to a tuktuk with some Arab ladies wearing burkas as passengers and they guessed that we were Americans. They threw jeers our way in the form of F George Bush and you guys suck. We looked at each other in confusion because, hell, frankly we did not like Bush either. But I guess for the fact that we were Americans, they assumed that we stood for and agreed with everything our government does.

Any other time when meeting people on a personal level is always cool. I always ask people where they are from and I really enjoy meeting people that come from countries that are considered adversaries to my country's government (ie. Iran, Cuba). Because it just goes to show that they are regular cool ass people who are just trying to feed their families and enjoy life the same as me and have about as much to do with what their government does as I have to do with what mine does. And for some reason they always want to take pictures together!
