Treasury/IRS checks are valid for one year.   However, my law a "U.S." bank are only required to honor checks up to six months old.

But I think a Federal Savings Bank  must accept the US Treasury check up to one year.  The six months only absolves other types of banks

Good opportunity for movie makers to get stock footage for future apocalyptic movies

Oh yeah.  So many cities around the world, landmarks, historical sites, etc.  An opportunity for something without CGI effects.  I still remember the classic The Omega Man from the 70s.  So eerie to see an empty New York City.

I seem to remember an old Tales from the Darkside, or one of those late night horror shows from the 80s.  Some experiment was making rats smart and they took over a house or a lab or something like that.  Not Ben or Willard.  But it was a really creepy episode

haha.  Herd intelligence and cooperation.  The stuff for a good Science Fiction novel.  Planet of the Apes was just the harbinger species

  5. If you do not test you do not know.  I have to list a quote from the USA state of Florida:

"Florida Health Palm Beach County Director Dr. Alina Alonso said at the Sunday news conference that an increase in testing will result in an increase in the number of positive cases in the county; this helps officials know the number of cases and does not necessarily mean the number of people with coronavirus is increasing at the same rate.

Doctors standing up to loudmouth protestors in the US. I know who I support.

Photographs captured the nurses standing in front of a number of vehicles staring back at the drivers with their arms crossed, refusing to move under a cacophony of horns and heckles

Sorry but both are probably breaking the law.  You block my free right of passage and you might not like results as my 2 ton SUV continues on its way.  Peaceful lawful protest for any reason does not give anybody the right to block a road

Despite pleas from rally organizers to wear face coverings or masks, many did not.

So if it is a lawful order, start the arrests and charges. And then, since many states are releasing prisoners to reduce the crowding and alleged spread of the virus, release them.  Catch and release, and pocket the fines.

  8. lCurrently priority is being given to health care workers, first-responders and those over the age of 65 with symptoms in Palm Beach Florida, my home city.  So I don't think testing is very wide ranging.  Similar things here in New Jersey where I am working.  To get tested, one has to get a note from their doctor, be in the risk group and supposedly assert you came in contact with somebody with the virus.  Well, few people know who had the virus as they do not release that information.

    Testing process is suspect

Even if thailand opens up and lifts quarantine it must rely on other countries doing the same.

No on is going on a holiday when upon return their home country quarantines them for 2 weeks.

Thailand can do nothing, it is in the hands of other countries.

Or even having to transit through an intermediate airport to change planes for example.  If transiting through Taiwan on the way from Bangkok to the USA or through a Chinese airport such as Pudong or if on Cathay Pacific flying through Hong Kong.  Any place along the way may either stop the traveler or, the fact the traveler touched that intermediate country may trigger something when they get home.  Just something to keep track of and be mindful of

Do you actualy know how many thai can get bank loan!? Not many % of population here!

There are much more illegal loans than bank loans!

And loan sharks want they money also! Or lender's will loose everything if not pay back!

To quote my Uncle who was always broke and while a hard worker, not a well paid one: "Banks will only lend you money if you don't need it".  And he was the type that never saved, even back in the 70s would rent things like furniture "curtis mathis works in a drawer TV" etc.  he just never got ahead

All I ask of a hotel or motel room is clean, moderate cost, aircon, big bed. A smart TV with a USB port is a bonus.

It's an advantage to have a Thai GF. Mine can find good rooms well off the tourist track, and we always inspect the room first. I defer to her when it comes to thumbs up or thumbs down.

One weird situation arose in Sukhothai, where the manager said yes he had a room available, no we could not look at it. IMO with that attitude, he'll be out of business first.

Yep.  I always see the room before I pay.  Several times find out it is right next to the loud dinging elevator bell that goes on all night long, or right over the car park and too many motorcycles come and go, or facing the street or whatever.  On my longer stays I really do like a piece of furniture chair that is comfortable.  Flipper Lodge used to have nice simple rooms with soft cushions then they remodeled and I gave up on that.

That was generous. I once went to get on the bus and found someone else in my seat. they had sold it twice. Bus lady didn't care. Luckily my GF was able to get us on a later bus.

In Pattaya I tried to book a bus in an hotel. wouldn't sell me a ticket for my Thai GF. Only farangs allowed. Ignored me when I asked why.

I have many tales of terrible trips by bus and rail in LOS, but I'd never go by air as the journey was part of the adventure.

Oh absolutely.  I loved the bus from Mo Chit in Bangkok up to Sukhothai.  About 6 1/2 hours total bus time during the day.  Had a decent stop for lunch at one of those big road stop gas stations.  Get to look out the window, see some water buffalo, etc.  That was a very enjoyable quiet peaceful time.   Took the day bus from Pattaya to Khorat or was it Khon Kaen? Darn it was a few years back so my memory is failing.  Then a few days later I took the overnight bus from there to Phuket.  That leg I do not recommend because the trip was a bit rough and would keep getting woken up as the bus driver would slam on the brakes, etc.  Even with the VIP seat for the long ride it was not comfortable.  And the stop at 6 am at some restaurant for some pre arranged breakfast/meal was <deleted> food.
