  1. Nice ideas and maybe newer ones do have some or all of those features but I doubt it.
  2. Interesting options, especially the Philippines. Wonder how long one must stay in the PI if one say were to visit Thailand for much of the year while maintaining some sort of residence or whatever the UK would require to be considered in the PI
  3. I don't see how decriminalizing adult behavior would contribute to child exploitation. Laws about that exploitation should still be enforced . Same for trafficking. If things were monitored or licensed wouldn't that make it harder to exploit?
  4. Having been there many times, it is obvious to the casual observer the walks are built on top of just sand. No underlying structural integrity. I have seen Pattaya Klang several meters deep of a hole and not surprising not stable. Any water flow, flooding from storm rain, or even drainage pipes and water just moves the sand.
  5. Interesting note about flammables. Remember Apollo 1 fire on the launch pad. Three dead
  6. Was it really that long a trip? Gosh. And all those kids were unattended with no adult chaperone accompanying them on the bus?
  7. Wow. Thank you for that very informative post. For that much power usage, one might think they were crypto mining
  8. Yes. Totally agree. By all accounts he was a very talented person and could have made great deal of money legitimately in the computer world by forming his own company or working for one. He chose to go for the accolades. How did that work out? His prime earning ears now used up.
  9. Just ran away instead of helping. Was plenty of time to open the rear door, the roof top hatch which I assume was there. Push out the side emergency windows which the kids probably had no idea they could do or were too small or weak to do.
  10. The school busses I rode on here in the USA as a kid were right in the middle of the baby boom in the 1960s and early 1970s. Big old yellow school busses. No seat belts. No padding on the back of the set in front of you. Made us sit three in each of the seats meaning our little arses were half on the seat half off the seat if you were the last one in that seat. I don't recall the side windows being emergency push out like newer busses have. I am pretty sure there was no roof egress hatch either. Not that any of us could have reached that roof hatch anyway just like the children on that Thailand bus probably were too young and short to reach either.
  11. Personal privacy going going going just about gone. This technology and information exchange is not good .
  12. Assange the hero? Pulllleeeeze. He did the crime he should do the time.
  13. Still can't clear notifications. Today is September 28 2024
  14. On a wild guess I would think the stuff they use for PVC pipe house plumbing installation or repair might work? EZ Weld PVC Cement, or any similar type of products?
  15. Mister Spock the original Star Trek. Loyal, efficient, unbiased, etc. The kind of person you want on your team backing you up.
  16. Guy Williams as Zorro. Then as John Robinson on Lost in Space. Really appreciatedPatrick Mcgoohan as the Prisoner but not sure I considered him an idol. Gomez Adams as an eccentric but loyal to the bone person. Major Tony Nelson on I dream of Genie. Funny thing is later in Life I did join the Air Force. I did become a Captain and did work on aerospace things out of Cape Canaveral, Florida.
  17. In my experience some of the older girls can tell if you have been around, heard things etc..
  18. Etrade, now Morgan Stanley Premium Savings account is 4.5 %.
  19. While I love Olive Oil, it is not good for high temperatures. Peanut Oil is commonly used in Chinese food and does well in high temperature frying. It is very under rated.
  20. so assuming somebody owes some taxes.. does thailand penalize you if you owed too much just as the USA IRS does? The IRS in general expects taxes to be paid contemporaneously and penalizes a person if too much is owed at the end of the year. Any of you that have filed Thailand income taxes? I ask because assuming the Thai authorities start going after all expats or visitors that have been in the country for 182 days, how would the process even begin? With the revenu department search the immigration databases and try to contact any body that they count as being in country for 182 days? What happens if the person was in for over 182 days but then left and say.. returned the next year? All variations on a theme but more to the point is are there late penalties and how will Thailand and will thailand query every visitor's stay record?
  21. Yes I know about the status of things in the USA. I was asking about Thailand thanks
  22. so a new arrival wants to start the non imm O visa process and then do extensions due to retirement over 55. I decide to put 800 k baht on deposit instead of the monthly transfer method. (USA citizen). So now Thailand would want to tax that fairly large amount of money that I put on deposit just for visa purposes!
  23. I only travel with a very modest and light carry on. I enjoy a bus ride and looking out the window. Been doing it there since 2004. It works for me. I am not a cheap charlie but I prefer a bus over a tax driver who drives as if he is trying to test his beliefs of the after life
  24. the tax rules I have read do not detail what is considered assessible, they just repeat the word. So I am free to say none of my income is assessible?
