"COVID 'most likely' leaked from Wuhan lab, social distancing 'not based on science,' select committee finds". Sadly the article does not say who or what was on the committee, what scientists, researchers or whatever were involve, etc. https://www.yahoo.com/news/covid-most-likely-leaked-wuhan-191056945.html

I agree. Heis just trying to rationalize and justify his decision.

If that is all you get out of Thai culture and buddhism then you are probably in the wrong country or website.

Especially bad since a few months earlier Joe Biden said he would not pardon him. Nobody should be allowed to get an unconditional pardon before any court has even convicted or sentenced anybody. That is way to over reaching. Oh well. The old saying in the military was "RHIP" Rank has its privileges. Pretty disgusting behavior from the office of the president who at one time when I was active duty was my commander in chief. And I served under Three different presidents.

I never knew of this wayback machine website. I am working with it. It is already returning some of the data from the site I was looking for. One direction was to a .de domain blogspot which makes sense since I recall its origins having something to do with some german folks. Thank you

In retrospect had I known more about computers I guess at the time I could have downloaded the web page and all its links? No idea how much data bytes that would have been but I didn't.

Thailand's Expats Urged to Register with TRD for Tax, Says Expert
gk10012001 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The problem is who decides what is assessable? The Thai government may drag in anybody and demand details, proof, etc. Make you file and list everything etc. Maybe it will be determined one has no assessable income, but I have doubts that one can get away by doing nothing and saying nothing is going to happen. -
There used to be a website that somebody put together that contained links and photos and information about hundred or more temples all across Thailand. The web site was chimburi dot com. The link no longer works. It was a fantastic collection of temples and was organized by region. My memory says it had some origins from a German author or traveler that had lots of help from some Thais. Anybody else ever seen this or know what happened to it? It is a shame if all those photos and the data in that website is lost. Maybe somebody had it on some archive or server somewhere?

K bank E-mail with Tax Forms attached ?
gk10012001 replied to offset's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Note that the text says they request it. While this email may be legitimate, and they may be trying to collect information, I don't see it as requiring anybody to do it, and the forms are very much USA based as those forms, the I9 and I8Ben are USA centric. -
Man busted in UK smuggling cannabis from Thailand to clear debt
gk10012001 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
the end of the article says he got a 26 month sentence. By itself that is not the end of the world. Of course the criminal record may follow him around for a long time and cause all sorts of employment, living problems etc. But the risk reward seems ridiculous. He was only going to get 10,000? Goodness. Even a low paying entry level job could earn him that. -

A USA FACTA form with Thai script on it? Don't USA citizens file FACTA online after registering and there is no form one can submit? -
Yes. That tax thing is quite a large unknown. Even if the dollars and cents become not an issue, the alleged and possible need to report income, provide tax records, argue about capital losses or net gains, or deductions etc. will stop a lot of actions by many people. I know that when i retire in February of next year I will not be spending the 180 days in thailand. Not a big deal but it will require me to sort out my living here in the USA with any long term rental in Thailand differently than i was planning. I remember back in 2004 when I was so going to buy a condo in Pattaya. It would have been OK for about a dozen years but as my work and time habits changed, then COVID, and not to mention whatever problems might have cropped up such as crazy neighbors, condo maintenance not happening, immigration paperwork for my visa, etc.. I am glad I did not buy. So many less headaches.

Pattaya beach turns into unregulated booze and kratom market
gk10012001 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Oh man I remember my first few trips starting back in 2004. Palm trees and shade trees were great. There were flower beds all along the walkway. There were metal benches one could sit on and relax and enjoy the sights. The walkway on the North end was still usable and you could walk to Won Amat beach area. It was such a pretty serene place. -

What is one thing you learned from lefties?
gk10012001 replied to Celsius's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Two of my friends were lefties growing up. They pointed out a few things. 1: Doors and the door knobs are designed more for righties to use then lefties. This was in the 70s and 80s anyway. Not so sure I agreed with them but I saw their point. 2: Those little manual can openers are easier to use by righties than lefties. 3: In the USA the cars with manual shifters on the floor and most automatic shifters require the right hand. The manual shifting if they had not driven a stick much took some getting used to -

The USA will NOT release your 1040 complete tax forms to Thailand. Now, if you yourself do end up having to report to Thailand all your tax records that is a different kettle of fish. I would not trust Thailand with such information, It will be interesting to see exactly how this tax reporting, assessing works and how Thailand will regulate or mediate it as there will be disputes over what is covered what is not covered, what is excluded, etc.. -
I think the Sabai Dee or one of those soapy massage places could help. The thai massage is kind of a combination of wrestling, massage, manipulation etc.

Where to get a blood pressure test in Pattaya
gk10012001 replied to shdmn's topic in Health and Medicine
Thanks. I would be interested in using that and keeping an eye on things when I head to Pattaya. I use the ones here in some CVS pharmacies here in the USA. I think I used one at a walmart pharmacy area also -
Pfff. Nothing new. past few decades as I have visited there at night and late the rats all along walking street running in and out of the garbage dumps, dashing down the sewer drains etc. People there years before me tell me that along the sides of Soi 7 and Soi 8 those little gutters used to contain the sewage and drainage from the hotels and bars there. Noise has gotten worse over the years. The small town atmosphere is almost gone. I remember before central plaza was built and I miss that. Still a fun city to visit but not as good as it used to be
