Well, you know, me too. I haven't been to Pattaya for a year or more, and it's only a 30 hour drive. I haven't been to any bar for very long time. It's boring now.
I'm talking about what happens to the guys ... and yes, this also happened to me when I came here for the first time.
The next new guy coming here for the first time might experience the same thing ... big chance.
Indeed. Switzerland guy I know had never seen a pair of naked boobs in a bar before Thailand. He lost himself in young puzzy, still going now after 50 years of age. Very intelligent guy, but stupid when it comes to puzzy.
You can't tell Newbs anything, they must learn for themselves. Even when they know, they do the same stupid s**t over and over again.

You're getting better, though. At least you didn't feign bewilderment.

Does seem like a change. Usually could deposit or w/d without an ID, but mine was a small branch, and I was one of only a handful of foreigners around. Always made a copy of my PP for over-the-counter withdrawals using foreign debit card, which was understandable.
Bright side is many of us rarely step foot in a branch. On-line, App and using ATMs is banking for me 99% of the time.

Yup, you'll likely get it eventually. At least it's only 800 Baht but I know, it's the feeling of falling into a black hole. Similar to the on-line "Pay and Pray" ordering things through Facebook sellers and the like. I just got done, thankfully only 500 Baht. Payment on delivery is preferred if possible.

It isn't worth it. Specifically, Thailand simply isn't worth it.
It is amazing to me what people put up with, and the extent to which they allow themselves to be abused.
Different perspective when you reach a certain point in life, and "this is it". It's not that those who continue to downplay and rationalize the creeping reality of tightening of policy in the past 2 years, can't see it or feel it. Some may not have an option, or they do but it would wipe them out financially or at this piont, it's just logistically unpalletable. And so it just easier and cheaper to stay. Still, IMO, it's not "that" bad if you don't dwell on it. Could be worse. Majority "Good guys" usually suffer in a government's effort to corner a relative minority of Bad Guys. Big hammer, small nail.
The ones who can be annoying AF are the Dr. Phil Life Coaches. Contrarians professing their unwavering happiness to anyone who'll listen, usually with a string of repetative emojies 'fore and aft. Nothing wrong with trying really hard to maintain a healthy, positive outlook but jeez, if it takes THAT much constant effort projecting it, then there might be more going on behind the curtain. Ticking time bombs, perhaps.

Not sure about that, approaching 64, and the years after 60 haven't been that great.
Nothing in particular to complain about, just nothing left I want to do, and I can feel illness and infirmity approaching.
I'm just 50. The niggly things are setting in. Still have time to go, of course, but fer fuke's sake, is this the trajectory? ???? (rhetorical question).

Sorry @Morch, get a bit carried away with the internet drama queens.
Otherwise, did I get something wrong? Obama pulling troops out of Iraq and AFG. One down, then got way-laid into a surge. And here we are. Still. Just my 5,000' level recollection.

People talked about AIDS. But how many heterosexuals were infected? As far as I know very few.
It was still the "gay" disease in the 80s. By the 90s, it was becoming equal opportunity.
Late 80s, Kenya, we were given sheepskin condoms. A few years later, we heard they were ineffective at preventing transmission of AIDS. I never dipped my s**t in Africa, but guys I know did, and then we went to Thailand. Meh. Wrap it up, boys.....

Wouldn't have thought of that at the beach, but makes sense, I guess. At least he didn't kill it.

Internet, taxi apps, availability of western food, less paranoia about AIDS.
AIDS was in full swing 20 years ago, 1999.
I know, that seems like last week, not 20 years ago. ????

The document is not closed. Because Trump will want to spin it with his personal stamp, so he can boast and steal credit for the deal. Think he'll give credit to anyone else, this King Narcissistic President.?
President Obama was on the right track before he let himself get hi-jacked, I presume by the Hawks, MIC, and the line of Afghanis at the trough.
I presume getting US (and other) troops out of Afghanistan is a higher priority than your petty parrot's rhetoric. If he gets the job done, great. If not, then internet tough guys can return to crushing him. You go, gurl! ????????

If it's just 1 valve to control water on/off, and that worked normally, until recently, then that's where I would focus my troubleshooting.

Ok, now I know what kind of a poster you are! You just love to stir stuff around ????
It's an R ... RRRRoooon .... Ro Ruea. Only the low class, lazy or uneducated say Lon .... Lo Ling. But they all know it.
You have been here for 20 years?
I know Coffee is not a Thai word ... but it's pretty international and if you work in a coffee shop with a huge sign Coffee Shop and you only
sell coffee, oh well. Not going to argue this with you further ???? Too silly really
Wai'ing little kids and soi dogs in the Makro car park. They go all in, which can wind up in this disdain for farangs, and whinging about Thai-bashing.
These odd-balls have convinced themselves they are right. They're not wrong, not entirely anyway, but the passive aggressive hypocrisy they dish out, is where they go wrong. Ironically, they are drawn to farang-centric chat sites, like a moth to flame, because they require validation and attention. They troll their bait because negative attention is still attention, and gives them a platform. Anticipated resistance makes them feel embattled; a crusading martyr. Moderating views, flushing out his hypocrisy, bounces off his impervious ego. All the sudden he can't understand. Yeah, ok, Khun Hero.
The 60-year old Thai lady flogging noodles in front of the BigC, however, is an Oracle by birthright. Toothless grin, she stares vacantly into his hopeful farang eyes as he gazes into the glossy spot on hers - a portal to 1,000s of years of ancient Asian mysteries, knowledge and wisdom. He's swept away, the things this woman as seen and done, carrying on the ancient traditions, generation to generation.
As he oooo's and ahhhh's about her amazing Mama noodles, don't try telling him her 1,000 yard stare and that glossy spot is just cataracts. Or that she believes in ghosts, and that Tiger Balm cures pretty much everything, because a 22-year old wisened Monk told her so, for 100 Baht.

Well, it might be a false equivalency but since you brought it up..... If the "bad" farangs, meaning the ones with, as you call it, low moral standards, are the benchmark for "bad", then you can take solace in the idea that we, as a collective category, ain't got nuffin' on the Thais you put on a pedestal.
20 years here, allegedly, and OP is still baffled, rolling around on the TVF floor for days now, moaning about moaners and now, farangs who like a bit of tail before they kick their cloggs. Yeah, you're chock full of virtues, upset at being in the same "farang" basket with the rest of us. It's all about you. Poor, poor you.

I have been there with TM30, I am from time to time applying for new visa at nearby embassies, due to that I sometimes go home and need a new when I do not use the multiple entry option and my extension ends. I have been in contact numerous times with the traffic police. I am paying bills in many different places.
In other words, I have experience of most of the things seen as soo big problems on this forum. One thing, though. I do not feel the need to complain about everything in daily life. Actually makes my life more happy. You should try it. ????I'm entertaining the idea that you just enjoy being a contrarian. Taking the opposite side, weighing in with soothing advice laced with passive aggressive negativity of your own, which is ironic hypocrisy, innit. Aka: Moaning about Moaners.
Are you like this all the time IRL, or just on the internet when the opportunity to virtue signal presents itself? Is it cathartic for you?
Have you considered that "the moaners" et al, might just be blowing off some steam, making light of amusing, frustrating twists and nuances of life here? Would you allow that this might be cathartic for them? Or do you not approve of that for others, only yourself, in a way you deem appropriate.
The Thai/Buddhist approach to life, to the extent it underpins the usual fake Jai Yen Yen karma bulls**t some farangs engage in, isn't always superior. When that fake bubble pops, things can go from Jai Yen to Jai Yuck rather quickly. Another one of those inconvenient realites best left unmentioned, because, well, it ain't happy.
Anyhow, keep the good advice coming, coach. You should try it too. ????

Not for the robo-calls I've gotten here.
More clever in the US, the boiler-rooms do ping calls to see when it is answered, and build a profile for their algorithms.

You simply can't wrap your head around things that haven't impacted YOU yet. Because you're a self-absorbed t**t lacking mental elasticity, and empathy.
Soon as something DOES affect you, you'll be here, registering your outrage, and then get your panties in a twist when you are told it's no big deal, and to suck it up. Carry on Mr. Wanna Be Moderator. Next.

No.
My missus is not obliged to report me.
I have never seen a TM30 form, neither has she.
She knows nothing about it.
Neither do the local coppers who are not remotely interested in a TM30.
Then we've got the local 90 day reporters at the main immigration office in this province; nobody in the office is interested in the TM30 filled out at your home address or if you nip 3 provinces away for a long weekend hols.
It seems an over exagerated paranoid mess that obviously has implications in the tourist ghettos.
Us expats living in Bumf##k, Nakon Nowhere don't seem to be having the problem.
Right on and carry on, then.
I live on the outskirts of Nakhon Nowhere, previously on the inside of it. My Immi office is all over it, for now. Sure hope it goes away, sometime soon.

Sounds a little off to me. But don't underestimate it because it was a female I/O.
The one I had 2 weeks ago was right uppity about a very small administrative issue with me, clearly primed and ready to chop my head off with her ninja sword if I ruffled my feathers at her.
They've been on a roll for nearly 2 years now, going toe to toe with chancers who've been running roughshod for years, and even having a go with a few major foreign embassies. Immigration has regained the initiative and are feeling their oats.

I left my mod in Thailand, didn't want to deal with any potential hassle leaving Swampy, so good to read a few first hand accounts here. Thanks for posting.
Bought a Smok Nord in USA for holiday, brought it back to Thailand in my pocket. Love these little pods, my first one, very cool.

If you can maintain your property in WA, and still make a move to Thailand, do that.
Don't sell up and sink all your eggs into 1 basket. Unless you are totally sure about what you are doing, then go for it.
Maintain and/or open bank accounts and secondary ones in advance of leaving.
